About the city
• Rome is the capital city of Italy. With 2 860 009
residents, Rome is the country's most populated
commune and the 3rd most populous city in
Europe, after Berlin and Madrid.
• Rome is well known for being the home of the
Catholic Church, including its leader, the Pope,
who lives in the Vatican city.
Little history lesson
• Nothing is known for sure about the founding of ancient Rome. The myth
of Romulus and Remus is often told. They were raised by a she-wolf. The
brothers decided to build a city, but after an argument, Romulus killed Remus
and and the city took his name.
• There is no historical evidence of this, but the story is popular.

Conclusion
• Rome is a fabulous mix of history, archeology, art, religion and religious
culture and delicious food; and it certainly is the most popular place to visit
in Italy. Truth is, Rome is a city that hardly leaves you indifferent. It's the
kind of place you either love or hate – and most inevitably love it.
