NETWORK ENGINEERING CLUB (NEC)

1. Clubs background
Network Engineering Club, also known as NEC, a club founded in AASTU by
two HCIA certified students Abenezer Desalegn and Tomas Birhanu. As its
name indicates, the club engages its members in activities related to network
engineering, an interesting area of study which is not yet provided in any
university curriculum.
We founded the club because of seeing the huge differences between students'
preparation during their stay in university and what the market wants from them.
To bridge the gaps observed in this regard and bring the changes we want to see,
the club was officially launched on November 1, 2023 G.C.

2.Experience (our achievement/ activities & services)


Before founding the club, the leaders had an opportunity to work as a network
engineer at IPCOM Technologies Solution in network designing and
implementation team for Cooperative bank of Oromia (COOP) HQ data center
project.
Collaborating with university lectures and ICT staff to share their expertise with
fellow students.
We (club) have able to work with Universities ICT department. Also, able to create
an opportunity for our club members to take Huawei Datacom exam and Huawei
ICT competition. By doing so, most of our members have got career certificates
and participating in this year's Huawei ICT national competition.
We also arranged an internship opportunities that lasts during student’s stay in
university to participate in any maintenance and new installation of network
devices in our university in collaboration with ICT department.

3. Activities
Although we have many plans in regarding to the club’s future activities, here are
some tasks performed in the club currently:
NEC

》Participation in any networking related job in our university


》Huawei course trainings
》simulation and design training
》network device configuration trainings

For the future, we want to create an opportunity for our club to try and work in
multi vendor products and we want to have qualified members in the field of
network engineering.

3. Expectation
For the proper functioning of this club, we demand help and support from well-
established companies. That is why we are reaching to IE Network Solutions.
After hearing about your company’s great support from some of our members
who had internship opportunity with you and after we had contacted you in person
and saw good hospitality from your company’s team, We now provide some of our
demands we want to achieve and expectations we have by discussing with your
company as follows: -
 To be notified in advance when your company hosts a campaign or any
related activities that benefit the club and its members.
 To cooperatively host training and brand awareness programs to club
members and to our university.
 To get instructors from your company to mentor our club members with
their valuable knowledge and experience.
 Internship and project participation opportunities for club members
 In advance notification of job opportunities for soon to be graduated club
members.
We clearly want to get into further discussion related to those things mentioned
above and really look forward for our interaction to be fruitful.
