Police car

You will need:


Schachenmayr Catania
Ca 50 g bleu (nr. 201)
Ca 15 g light grey (nr. 172)
Ca 15 g dark grey (nr. 242)
Small quantity of white (nr. 106)
Small quantity of black (nr. 110)
Small quantity of light blue (nr. 173)
Small quantity of orange (nr. 281)

Stitches used:
st = stitch
ch = chain stitch
sl = slip stitch
sc = single crochet

Start with the roof. The roof will be made in back and forth going rounds. Ch 1 after each round and
turn around.
Ch 13 with white.
1. 12 sc
2. 2 sc into the 1st sc, 10 sc, 2 sc into the last sc (= 14 sc)
3 - 16. 14 sc
17. sc 2 st together, 10 sc, sc 2 st together (= 12 sc)
18. 12 sc
19. Continue crocheting a round of sc along the roof as follows: 16 sc along the side, 2 sc at the
corner, 10 sc along the bottom, 2 sc at the corner, 16 sc along the side, 2 sc at the corner, 10 sc along
the top, 2 sc at the corner (= 60 sc).
Continue crocheting in rounds with blue.
20. 60 sc, into the back loops only.
21. 15 sc, 2 times (2 sc into the next sc), 11 sc, 2 times (2 sc into the next sc), repeat one more time
from the start (= 68sc)
22 - 30. 68 sc
31. 21 sc, 4 times (2 sc into the next sc, 3 sc), 17 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked.
32. ch 1, turn around, 56 sc
33. ch 1, turn around, 20 sc, ch 28 , 1 sc into the 17th sc, 19 sc, ch 32
34. 1 sc into the 1. sc of the next round, continue crocheting in rounds, 19 sc, 28 sc into the ch, 20 sc,
32 sc into the ch (= 100 sc)

35. 46 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked


36. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 20 sc, sc 2 st together (= 22 sc)
37. ch 1 ,turn around, sc 2 st together, 18 sc, sc 2 st together (= 20 sc)
38 and 39. ch 1, turn around, 20 sc.
Fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn onto the 7th sc left from the last crocheted part.
1. 14 sc
2. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 10 sc, sc 2 st together (= 12 sc)
3. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 8 sc, sc 2 st together (= 10 sc)
4 and 5. ch 1 ,turn around, 10 sc
Fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn onto the 7th sc left from the last crocheted part.
1. 24 sc
2. ch 1 ,turn around, sc 2 st together, 20 sc, sc 2 st together (= 22 sc)
3. ch 1 ,turn around, sc 2 st together, 18 sc, sc 2 st together (= 20 sc)
4 and 5. ch 1 ,turn around, 20 sc
Fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn onto the 7th sc left from the last crocheted part.
1. 14 sc
2. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 10 sc, sc 2 st together (= 12 sc)
3. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 8 sc, sc 2 st together (= 10 sc)
4 and 5. ch 1, turn around, 10 sc
Don’t fasten off. Continue crocheting a round of sc along the bottom as follows: 16 sc along the
wheel part, 20 sc along the top, 16 sc along the wheel part, 10 sc along the top, repeat one more
time from the start. End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.

Back:
Attach the blue yarn onto the 1st remaining loop of round 33 (the side with the smallest opening).

1. 16 sc along the sc
2 - 6. ch 1o turn around, 16 sc
Fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn onto the side of the 1st round.

Make 5 sc along the side, 2 sc at the corner, 14 sc along the front side, 2 sc at the corner, 5 sc along
the side (= 28 sc). Ch 1, turn around and sc the st together with the remaining loops of the ch. Work
at the inside of the car.

Engine hood:
Attach the blue yarn onto the 12th loop from the opening at the front side, counting from the left.
1. 10 sc into the loops.
2 - 7. ch 1, turn around, 10 sc
8. Sc the st of the engine hood together with the middle 10 st of the front (at the side of the front
window). Work at the inside of the car.
Fasten off.

Hood side:
Start at the back, next to the higher part of the car. Attach the blue yarn onto the 1st loop.
1. 6 sc into the loops.
2 and 3. ch 1, turn around, 6 sc
4. ch 1, turn around, 4 sc, sc 2 st together (= 5 sc)
5. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 3 sc (= 4 sc)
6. ch 1, turn around, 2 sc, sc 2 st together (= 3 sc)
7. ch 1, turn around , sc 2 st together, 1 sc (= 2 sc)
8. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together (= 1 sc)
9. 7 sc along the side down.
Fasten off.
Attach the blue yarn onto the side of the 1st sc of round 8.

1. 7 sc along the side down, 5 sc into the loops at the front, 6 sc along the side of the engine hood up
(= 18 sc)
Continue crocheting in rounds. Start at the 1st sc of round 1.

2. Sc every 2nd and 3rd st together (= 12 sc)


3. Sc every 1st and 2nd st together (= 6 sc)
Fasten off. Close the whole and weave in the end. Sew the upper part and the side onto the hood.
Make the other side of the hood at the same way. Start for the last 3 rounds at the side of the hood,
make 6 sc along the hood down, 5 sc along the loops at the front, 7 sc along the side up.

Top wheel hole:


Ch 17 with blue.
1. 16 sc
2 and 3. ch 1 ,turn around, 16 sc
4. Ch 1 and sc the st together with the inner loops of the wheel part, working from the inside of the
car.
Fasten off. Make three more parts like this.
Inside wheel hole:
Ch 7 l with blue.
1. 6 sc
2. ch 1, turn around, 2 sc into the 1st sc, 4 sc, 2 sc into the last sc (= 8 sc)
3. ch 1, turn around, 2 sc into the 1st sc, 6 sc, 2 sc into the last sc (= 10 sc)
4 and 5. ch 1, turn around, 10 sc
6. Continue crocheting a round of sc along the round side as follows: 5 sc along the side, 6 sc along
the upper side, 5 sc along the side, ch 1, turn around, sc the st together with the sc of the top wheel
hole, working from the inside of the car.

Attach the blue yarn onto the 1st sc at the front and make a round of sc along the whole bottom as
follows: 20 sc along the front, 3 sc along the side of the wheel hole, 10 sc along the inside of the
wheel hole, 3 sc along the side of the wheel hole, 10 sc into the back loops of the side, (3 sc, 10 sc, 3
sc) along the wheel hole, 20 sc along the back, (3 sc, 10 sc ,3 sc) along the wheel hole, 10 sc into the
back loops of the side, (3 sc, 10 sc, 3 sc) along the wheel hole, 1 sl into the 1st sc. Fasten off.
Bottom:
The bottom is made in back and forth going rounds, ch 1 after each round and turn around.
Ch 17 with dark grey.
1 and 2. 16 sc
3. 13 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked.
4. 10 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked.
5 - 12. 10 sc
13. 10 sc, ch 4
14. 3 sc, crochet back along the ch, 10 sc, ch 4
15. 3 sc, crochet back along the ch, 13 sc (= 16 sc)
16 - 24. 16 sc
25. 13 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked.
26. 10 sc, leave the rest of the st unworked.
27 - 34. 10 sc
35. 10 sc, ch 4
36. 3 sc, crochet back along the ch, 10 sc, ch 4
37. 3 sc, crochet back along the ch, 13 sc (= 16 sc)
38. 16 sc
39. Continue crocheting a round of sc along the bottom as follows: 2 sc along the side, (3 sc, 10 sc, 3
sc) along the wheel hole, 10 sc along the side, (3 sc, 10 sc, 3 sc) along the wheel hole, 2 sc along the
side, 16 sc along the back, repeat from the beginning 1 more time, end with 1 sl into the 1st sc and
fasten off.
Crochet the sc from the bottom together with the sc of the car with a round of sc. Stuff the car while
crocheting.
Crochet the sc from the bottom together with the sc of the car with a round of sc. Stuff the car while
crocheting.

Attach the white yarn onto the 1st remaining loop of round 20, make 15 sc, 2 times (2 sc into the
next sc), 11 sc, 2 times (2 sc into the next sc), 15 sc, 2 times (2 sc into the next sc), 11 sc, 2 times (2 sc
into the next sc), 1 sl into the 1st sc. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Bumper:
Ch 23 with light grey.
1. 22 sc
2 - 6. ch 1, turn around, 22 sc
Fold the work in half and sc the st together with the remaining loops of round 1.
Fasten off. Sew the bumper onto the front of the car, with the last round at the bottom.
Make another bumper and sew it onto the back of the car.

Grill:
Ch 16 with black.
1. 15 sc
2. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 11 sc, sc 2 st together (= 13 sc)
3. ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 9 sc, sc 2 st together (= 11 sc)
Continue with light grey.
4. Make 3 sc along the side down, 15 sc at the bottom, 3 sc along the side up, 11 sc along the top.
End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.
Embroider with light grey stripes between round 1 and round 2 and between round 2 and round 3.
Sew the grill onto the front of the car.

Lamp:
Ch 2 with light grey.
1. 6 sc into the 1 ch, 1 sl into the 1st sc to make a circle (= 6 sc)
2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)
Continue with dark grey.
3. 12 sl
Fasten off. Make another lamp and sew the lamps onto the front of the car.

Tail light:
Ch 4 with orange.
1. 2 sc, 3 sc into the last ch, continue crocheting at the atoher side the ch; 2 sc, 3 sc into the last ch
(= 10 sc)
Continue with gray.
2. 1 sl in every sc
Fasten off.
Make another tail light and sew the tail lights onto the back of the car.

Front window:
Ch 17 with light blue.
1. 16 sc
2 and 3. Ch 1, turn around, 16 sc
4. Ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 12 sc, sc 2 st together (= 14 sc)
5. Ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 10 sc, sc 2 st together (= 12 sc)
Continue with light grey.
6. Make a round of sc along the hole window as follows: 4 sc along the side down, 3 sc at the corner,
14 sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 4 sc along the side up, 12 sc along the upper side.
End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.
Sew the window onto the front of the car.

Back window:
Make the back window the same way as the front window and sew it onto the back of the car.

Side window front right/ behind left :


Ch 8 with light blue.
1. 7 sc
2 and 3. Ch 1, turn around, 7 sc
4. Ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 5 sc (= 6 sc)
5. Ch 1, turn around, 4 sc, sc 2 st together (= 5 sc)
Continue with light grey.
6. Make a round of sc around the window as follows: 4 sc along the side down, 3 sc at the corner, 5
sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 4 sc along the side up, 5 sc along the upper side.
End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.
Make another window like this.

Side window behind right/ front left:


Ch 8 with light blue.
1. 7 sc
2 and 3. Ch 1, turn around, 7 sc
4. Ch 1, turn around, 5 sc, sc 2 st together (= 6 sc)
5. Ch 1, turn around, sc 2 st together, 4 sc (= 5 sc)
Continue with light grey.
6. Make a round of sc around the window as follows: 4 sc along the side down, 3 sc at the corner, 5
sc along the bottom, 3 sc at the corner, 4 sc along the side up, 5 sc along the upper side.
End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.
Make another window like this. Sew all the windows onto the car.

Wheels.
Ch 2 with light grey.
1. 6 sc into the 1st ch, 1 sl into the 1st sc to make a circle (= 6 sc)
2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)
3. 2 sc in every 2nd sc (= 18 sc)
Continue with black.
4. 6 times (1 sc, 2 sc into the next st, 1 sc) (= 24 sc)
5. 2 sc in every 4th sc (= 30 sc)
6 and 7. 30 sc
8. Sc every 4th and 5th sc together (= 24 sc)
9. 6 times (1 sc, sc 2 st together, 1 sc) (= 18 sc)
Stuff the wheel.
10. Sc every 2nd and 3rd sc together (= 12 sc)
11. Sc every 1st and 2nd st together (= 6 sc)
Fasten off. Close the hole.
Make 3 more wheels and sew the wheels into the wheel holes.

Lamp:
Ch 2 with red.
1. 6 sc into the1st ch, 1 sl into the 1st sc to make a circle (= 6 sc)
2. 2 sc in every sc (= 12 sc)
3 - 5. 12 sc
Continue with light grey.
6. 12 sc
End with 1 sl into the 1st sc and fasten off.
Stuff the light and sew it onto the top of the car.

Finishing:
Embroider with white the word ‘POLICE’ at both sides of the car (use pictures as a guide).
