71-70: ENGINE DRAINS

1. General

This section describes those components and manifold assemblies which are used to drain
excess fluids from the powerplant and its accessories. This includes the fuel and oil system drain
hoses, and the engine drain manifold.

2. Maintenance Practices

A. Powerplant System Drains

(See Figure 71-70-1)

(1) Removal - Powerplant System Drains

(a) Remove access panel FB6R. (Refer to 6-00)

(b) Loosen clamps securing drain tube to bracket or standoff.
(c) Loosen drain fittings.
(d) Remove drain from airplane.

(2) Installation - Powerplant System Drains

(a) Install drain fittings.

• CAUTION •
Use backup wrench on elbow fittings when torquing line to
avoid damage to engine fittings.
(b) If installing elbow fittings, torque from 90 to 100 in-lb (10.17 to 11.30 Nm).
(c) Position drain tube to bracket or standoff and secure with clamps.
(d) Install access panel FB6R. (Refer to 6-00)

B. Engine Drain Mast

(See Figure 71-70-1)

(1) Removal - Engine Drain Mast

(a) Remove access panel FB6R. (Refer to 6-00)

(b) Loosen hose clamps securing hoses to drain mast.

(c) Loosen nuts securing drain tubes to drain mast.

(d) Remove screws securing drain mast to wing body fairing. Remove drain mast
from airplane.

(2) Installation - Engine Drain Mast

(a) Position drain mast to engine mount and secure with screws.
(b) Position drain tubes to drain mast and secure with nut.
(c) Position hoses to drain mast and secure with hose clamps.
(d) Install access panel FB6R. (Refer to 6-00)
