Every morning, I awaken myself from deep slumber to prepare for a new
day at university. After quickly washing up and dressing, I swiftly
dive into the first lecture or study group. Noon is often reserved for
group meetings, continued study, or relaxation at my favorite library
or café. The afternoon typically entails a heavy schedule of labs or
research projects. As evening approaches, I usually take time for
myself, socializing with friends or engaging in community activities
before winding down for bed. As a college student, each day brings
new opportunities for learning and skill development.

UNIT 9:
1. Do you want to live in a big city?
Living in a city has many advantages. Cities are multicultural areas, with people
from different backgrounds and cultures living together. They are
metropolitan and offer a wide range of activities, entertainment, shopping,
dining, and healthcare. Cities are also convenient as they are home to
educational institutions, business centers, and trade. Public transportation is
reliable and cost-effective. The people in cities are generally friendly,
welcoming, helpful, and cheerful. Finally, cities are often home to many
ancient attractions that attract tourists from all over the world. Overall,
living in a city offers many benefits that make life more enjoyable.
2. Do you want to live in the countryside?
Some people like to live in cities, some people like to live in the countryside. So
what’s the difference between city and countryside? The first is population.
Densely populated city, high population density. The countryside is the
opposite. Fewer people are here. The countryside environment is not
polluted, clean, and cool. Living here, you will not have to worry about
industrial dust, fine dust, and air pollution. In the countryside, there are also
few means of transportation, mainly bicycles and motorbikes. The city has
more vehicles, mostly cars and motorbikes. Heavy traffic leads to traffic
congestion that occurs every day. In the city, shopping malls or convenience
stores are increasing. You can easily shop for food anytime and anywhere. In
countryside areas, food is mainly sold in the market and in the morning.
However, the food is cheaper and cleaner. In the countryside, people are
veryclose. They often go to each other’s house to play and ask questions.
Contrary to the city, the street lived independently. Sometimes the neighbors
don’t even know each other. The social economy in the city is more
developed, so people here have a higher life and better income. The
countryside is less developed than the cities, but it is also worth living.
3. Your living place
I live with my family in a small house in Bac Ninh province, a place famous for Quan Ho folk
songs. My hometown is a peaceful land. I really like walking barefoot along the riverbank and
cycling on the long road next to the fields to enjoy the fresh air. Furthermore, my hometown has
many festivals, especially after Tet. Bac Ninh is a province with many industrial zones growing
up with many people from many places coming to live and work. Bac Ninh people value love
very much, everyone here always loves and helps each other. I love my homeland very much.
4. Your capital city
I live in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Life in Hanoi is vibrant and fast-paced. The city
is known for its ancient history, bustling streets, and various tourist attractions. The
climate in Hanoi is characterized by four distinct seasons, with hot and humid summers
and cool winters. The locals are cheerful and easy-going, making it easy to feel at home.
The city makes me feel alive and constantly inspired by its energetic and lively atmosphere.
However, the city is crowded and quite polluted. Despite these challenges, Hanoi is
constantly striving to improve its infrastructure and environmental initiatives. Efforts are
being made to promote sustainable transportation options and reduce air pollution.
UNIT 10:
UNIT 10:
1. Describe one of your relatives
My grandmother is 90 this year, and her age makes her become pretty weak.
There are countless wrinkles on her face, but we can still see that she used to
be a very beautiful girl when she was young. She has curly grey hair which
my mother decided to cut short. Her eyes are blurred by time, but there is
still a light in them whenever she smiles. Every morning, she will spend about
10 minutes to walk around the yard as a light exercise, and then she will
drink a hot cup of milk. She has to follow a strict diet because she has
problem with her liver, so she cannot eat the same food as other people.
Besides, she needs to take some pills in the morning and evening to maintain
her health, and I feel really sad when she needs more and more pills. Despite
her age, she is still a delightful lady who is full of love, and of course I love
her very much.
2. Your father
My dad, who is 46 years old, is a remarkable man with both strength and kindness.
He sports a few gray hairs, adding character to his warm smile. As an architect,
he pours his creativity into designing buildings, ensuring they are not just
functional but aesthetically pleasing. His meticulous attention to detail is
evident in every project he undertakes. Despite his demanding job, he always
prioritizes family time. We often engage in fun activities together, such as
fishing trips or camping adventures, where he eagerly shares his love for the
outdoors with us. His unwavering love and support are the pillars of our family,
guiding us through life's ups and downs. I am grateful for his presence and the
invaluable lessons he teaches me every day.
3. Your mother
My mother is a remarkable woman who exudes grace and warmth in every
aspect of her life. With her gentle demeanor and nurturing spirit, she has
always been the cornerstone of our family. Despite her busy schedule as a
dedicated nurse, she always finds time to shower us with love and support.
Her unwavering patience and selflessness inspire everyone around her. In her
spare moments, she enjoys gardening and cooking, pouring her heart into
every dish she creates. Her love for literature and music also shines through
as she often finds solace in a good book or loses herself in the melodies of
her favorite songs. Above all, her unconditional love and endless sacrifices
have shaped me into the person I am today. I am forever grateful to have her
as my mother.
4. One of your neighbors
Mr. Bang is a close neighbor of my family. This year he is 76 years old. He has
white hair, a slightly thin and tall figure. He often wears glasses for his eyes.
Although he is old, Mr. Bang is still agile. He loves gardening very much.
Every time I go to his house to visit, I see him wearing brown clothes, holding
scissors and a knife in his hands. He pruned the trees and weeded the garden
quickly. His garden grows many fruit trees such as: bananas, custard apples,
oranges, lemons, papayas, jackfruit, mangoes, etc., which bear fruit every
season. Every time I meet my grandfather, I get a gift, sometimes three peach
guavas, sometimes a huge custard apple or papaya. Mr. Bang often asks me
about studying and having fun with friends in class. He taught again and
again: "Students must be good, must be obedient...". I love Mr. Bang very
much and hope he is always healthy and loves life.
5. One of your favorite teachers
I have come across many teachers in my student life and my favorite one is Mrs.
Thuy. She was my English teacher when I was in grade 8. I still remember
that she has a feminine round face with distinctive facial features, which
easily catch the eyes of the passers-by. She is the most delightful and friendly
teacher I have ever met. She is an extremely attentive, caring and patient
person. She took time out to listen to our struggles in studying English and
she actually tried to figure out a learning method that could suit each of us.
The lessons became happier and more comfortable. I appreciate her efforts
to help me be this good at English. I do hope that she’s been doing well and
wish her all the best in whatever she tries to achieve.
UNIT 11:
1. Your future travel plans
On the upcoming summer vacation, I will travel to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
with my family. We have been there once and it was so fun that we want to go
there again. It will be a three-week trip. We will go to Ben Thanh Market,
Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office, Saigon Opera House, Mekong
Delta… As for food, we will explore more of Saigon’s cuisine diversity. We
still haven’t had the opportunity to try bun mam, hu tieu, banh khot,…
People say that Saigon is a sleepless city, so we will experience a few sleepless
night outs together. I feel really happy when I think about our upcoming trip
to Saigon.
2. Your plans for this weekend
i'll tell you about my weekend .I am a high school student I go to school every
day from Monday to Saturday. I am very busy with my studies. Sunday is my
holiday. On Sunday morning, I get up later than usual. After breakfast, I visit
my close friends and we often go shopping downtown. Sometimes we go for a
picnic in the countryside. In the afternoon, I prefer having a rest in my room,
reading books or listening to pop music. Then after dinner, I prepare my
lessons for the following week and go to bed early. Sunday is a good time for
me. It refreshes my mind › after a week’s hard work. It's great !
3. Your last holiday
The weekend is an occasion that everyone is looking forward to. A tiring
working week always needs a weekend to relax. On weekends I will wake up
later than usual. The feeling of getting enough sleep helps me feel well. After
waking up I will play music. Music is on and I will do the housework. I clean
the bedroom and fold my clothes to tidy. I have a couple of flowers on the
balcony. I love the feeling of free time standing watering the flowers. Seeing
the flowers bloom, I am very excited. In order not to be boring, I will invite a
few friends over to my room. We will eat fruit while watching movies and
chatting. From time to time, I also spend time on weekends going out to shop
and eat. I love my job very much but I also love myself
UNIT 12:
1. Your English class
I go to school every day to study. The classroom is like my second home. I have a
lot of memories in my class. My classroom is about 20 square meters. There
are 4 windows and two doors. On the windows we hang curtains so that the
summer does not get hot. Each student will have their own desk and chair. I
also have my own desk. I chose to sit at the first table so that I could listen to
the lecture better. My class has 30 students. My homeroom teacher is a very
funny person. She cares a lot about us. The teacher will have a large table
placed on the podium. On the table was a beautiful vase of flowers. We also
put a potted plant near the doors to help keep the classroom fresh. Every day
when I come to class, I feel happy. Thanks to my teachers and friends, I have
grown more and more every day. I will be very sad to leave this place.
2. Your favorite transport
For a student going to university to study, we are all familiar with the image of the bus.
This is a large form of transportation. The bus can carry many people at the same time. To
be able to travel by bus you need to go to the bus stop. Here people will wait for the bus to
have the right destination for their needs. Buses have doors to get on and off. When
traveling by bus during rush hours, you will sometimes have to stand. When standing,
there will be a handle at the top for you to hold as a support. The bus has lots of windows.
On rainy days, riding a bus, listening to music you love and watching the raindrops
through the glass window are wonderful. I often take the bus to go to school, to work and to
hang out. I can go anywhere by bus. I really like the convenience of it.
3. The weather in yourWeather is an indispensable part of our lives. Every
day has its own weather. The weather that I love the most is the weather of
summer. Summer is a season with relatively high average temperatures.
Bright rays of sunshine and blue skies are features that no season can enjoy.
The sun is hot, but showers can come at any time. In my hometown, we were
very familiar with running from summer storms. As long as there is a
thunderstorm in the distance, we need to hurry home. Because soon, a
thunderstorm will make the sky darken. The summer is hot so we can go
swimming. I love to swim. My friends and I will play in the pool together.
Summer air is usually quite humid. Summer climatic conditions are very well
suited to the growth of many fruit trees. One thing that I don’t like about
summer is storms. Storms knocked down trees and homes. This does great
damage to everyone. In recent years, summer temperatures have been higher
than normal. The main cause is probably global warming. We need to work
together to protect the environment in order to stabilize the weather.
4. A festival
The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional holiday in my country. Mid-
Autumn festival is celebrated not only in Vietnam but also in some other parts of
Asia as well, such as China, Japan or Korea. And it is often celebrated on the 15th
day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night. In the past, on
this day the moon was brightest and roundest which represented the family reunion
or gatherings. Therefore, families and friends often came together or harvested
crops for the festival. Nowadays, Mid Autumn Festival is mainly for young
children in Vietnam to enjoy the best time of the year. But not only can children
celebrate this day but also adults can, adults who wish to have a chance to remind
their their childhood and feel young again.
