LANDING SUB

The LANDING SUB* acts as a “no-go” for landing and activating a multifunction circulating
tool or other devices. Typically, this operation occurs on a liner-top polished-bore receptacle or
on another similar internal-diameter restriction.

The unit is manufactured from one piece with box-up/pin-down drillpipe connections and
comprises a central set of large, tapered, fluted outer lugs.

Features

• Landing on liner top, polished-bore receptacle or other suitable shoulder

• One-piece, rugged construction
• No restriction in internal diameter

Advantages

• Design to be run below a multifunction circulating tool and act as a “no-go” device for
activating the tool
• Fluted body for generous fluid bypass

UBHO Subs
• Description

The Universal Bottom Hole Orientation (UBHO) sub is

used in a directional drilling BHA. Sometimes referred
to as a mule shoe sub, this device is typically run directly
below a drill collar and contains a landing sleeve for
directional survey equipment. This sub is used to
establish the "high side of the tool" which is essential for
knowing the tool's orientation in the wellbore.
