Gearing up for the last rotation of the semester.
Emotions are all over, happy to be ending the
internship despite all the challenges emotionally, financially, and academically. Worried to be thinking
about the upcoming CA for the last four subjects. Anxious about the idea of taking the last round of
examinations before the big day, nauseated for the fact that all of these will or will not end next month
which will absolutely make or break every one of us.
My first week in clinical microscopy was smooth. I am still getting comfortable in the workflow and being
friend again with the microscope after months of not being able to manipulate one. So far, things that I
was able to identify were RBCs, WBCs, bacteria, mucus thread, epithelial cells, calcium oxalate, and fat
globules. I haven’t seen any parasites yet but I’m looking forward to see some before the rotation ends
to complete the experience. There are times that I still get confused of which is which but I am trying my
best to master the basics that I need to recognize just in one look. I am also working on my microscopy
skill as well because it makes feel so unskilled since I spend a lot of time during microscopic examination.
The routine in clinical microscopy is out and about, easy to understand and follow it is just a matter of
commitment in doing the task effectively.
So many things going on personally as of the moment. I just want to extend my outmost gratitude to
you Ma’am for giving me all the chances and opportunities despite of me disappointing you so many
times, for not being able to deliver, for not making it, for my shortcomings as your intern. After all, I just
want to do better to ease my burden. So many thanks Ma’am Yam.
