showers of blessings throughout my research work to complete the

research instructor/ adviser WENDELL CATAM-ISAN for giving me the

this research.

conduct my study at Libertad Elementary School.

Elementary School for their participation as the respondents of my

7. Abstract:
7.1 Summary
This study was designed to determine the reading skills in Grade 2
pupils in Libertad Elementary School. In the context the study sought to

answer the following aspects of the problem. The reading skills in English
of Grade 2 pupils using the Phil-IRI (Philippine Informal Reading
Inventory).
7.2 Findings
The findings of the study are summarized as follows:
1. With using the Philippine Informal Reading Inventory out of the 50
respondents the highest post- test result of the word recognition
percentage got 62% instructional and, in the comprehension,
percentage got 54% and the reading level percentage got 58%.
7.3 Conclusion
Therefore, according to the research findings, most respondents in
Grade 2 Libertad Elementary School are satisfied with their students'
reading skills. This could be because of the pandemic, which is the
covid 19. During the pandemic, the students lack reading practice and
interest.
Furthermore, only some parents/guardians can teach their children due
to a lack of education.
7.4 Recommendation
The following recommendations are given based from the findings and
conclusions.

1.The researcher suggest that to assist the pupils in reading problems,
introduce the words using basic sight words.
2.Let the pupils familiarized the word by telling the meaning.
3.Let them do spelling very morning and afternoon.
4.Explore children’s interest by including a range of reading materials
in the classroom.
