mathematics, and various fields that rely on numerical data. From its early mechanical versions
to today's sophisticated electronic models, the calculator's evolution reflects significant

The concept of the calculator can be traced back to ancient times with the abacus, a simple
counting device used by various civilizations, including the Chinese and Greeks. However, the
journey towards the modern calculator began in earnest during the 17th century. The invention
of logarithms by John Napier and the slide rule by William Oughtred were significant
milestones, enabling more complex calculations than simple addition and subtraction.
