Introduction
Resource levelling is a technique in project management that
overlooks resource allocation and resolves possible conflict
arising from over-allocation. When project managers undertake
a project, they need to plan their resources accordingly.
This will benefit the organization without having to face
conflicts and not being able to deliver on time. Resource
levelling is considered one of the key elements to resource
 management in the organization.
An organization starts to face problems if resources are not
allocated properly i.e., some resource may be overallocated
whilst others will be under-allocated. Both will bring about a
 financial risk to the organization.
Resource levelling is required when there is a demand for
resources more compared to the available supply.
Introduction
Resource levelling helps an organization to make use of the
available resources to the maximum. The idea behind resource
levelling is to reduce wastage of resources i.e., to stop over-
   allocation of resource.
Project manager will identify time that is unused by a resource
ang will take measures to prevent it or making an advantage
   out of it.
By resource conflicts, there are numerous disadvantages
suffered by the organization, such as:
1. Delay in certain task being completed
2. Difficulty in assigning a different resource
3. Unable to change task dependencies
4. To remove certain tasks
5. To add more tasks
6. Overall delays and budget overruns of projects

and to maximize efficiency. Resource Levelling ensures that all people
are assigned tasks to maximum capacity
                                               wherever possible.
Benefits of Levelling
 Prevent resource over-allocation
 Assists in maximizing resource utilization
 More flexible than using predecessors
Allows MS project to automatically adjust to
 changing priorities, durations, and resource
 availability.

Levelling Order
                  ID Only
Task with the lowest Id numbers are performed first
                  Standard
Task are performed based on predecessors, slack, fixed start

Preferences Select to “keep your project as short as possible”; doesn’t always
              work
              Levelling can adjust assignments
Select to adjust tasks for each resource separately
Levelling can create splits in work
Select to allow tasks to be split
Understanding
Priority
 Priority is 0-1000 in increments of 1;
 default priority is 500
Priority of 1000 means “Do not level”
 Summary task priority is ignored
Priority has no relationship to ID; tasks
can be listed in any order

Conclusion
 RESOURCE LEVELLING IS AIMED AT
 INCREASING EFFICIENCY WHEN UNDERTAKING
 PROJECTS BY UTILIZING THE RESOURCES
 AVAILABLE AT HAND. PROPER RESOURCE
LEVELLING WILL NOT RESULT IN HEAVY
 EXPENDITURE.
