LEARNING UNIT: Unit 10 – “The mystery agency”
LESSON: Telling the time (lesson 4)
TYPE: Acquisition of new knowledge

PURPOSE: The purpose of this lesson is to develop pupils’ ability to communicate the time in English while using the
right English Tenses
GENERAL COMPETENCES:
1. Receptarea de mesaje orale simple;
2. Exprimarea orală în situaţii de comunicare uzuală;
3. Receptarea de mesaje scrise simple.
SPECIFIC COMPETENCES:
1.1. Identificarea semnificației globale a unui mesaj oral clar articulat în contexte familiare;
1.2. Identificarea orei și a cantității exprimate numeric (prețuri, numere) în cadrul unui mesaj audiat articulat clar și rar;
1.3. Manifestarea disponibilității pentru receptarea de mesaje orale simple adecvate vârstei.
2.1. Cererea și oferirea de informații referitoare la numere, la prețuri, la exprimarea orei;
2.2. Participarea la interacțiuni în contexte de necesitate imediată/ pe teme familiare.
3.2. Identificarea semnificației globale a unui text simplu pe teme familiare.
LESSON AIMS:
a) Cognitive:
A1: to develop the ability to read the clock (regardless of format: analog/digital)
A2: to read a short text;
A3: to develop the confidence necessary for speaking in class;
A4: to develop their speaking skills;
A5: to use the right English Tenses (Present Simple / Present Continuous) within certain spoken or written contexts;
A6: to have a dialogue with their deskmate.

b) Psychomotor:
A1: to maintain an upright position during the activity;
A2: to hold their writing instruments correctly.

c) Affective:
A1: to maintain their interest throughout the activity.

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS:


★ Students may not be familiar with the meaning of some words.
Solution: use prompts/ mother tongue translation to convey meaning.
★ They may have difficulties in pronouncing some words.
Solution: the teacher helps them with pronunciation.

DIDACTIC STRATEGIES:
1. Methods and procedures: observation, simple description on visual or written support, conversation, exercise,
explanation, role-play;
