Final Capstone Project Reflection Questions

(Please give specific detailed answers.)

1. In the process of completing your Capstone Project, what did you learn about your subject? What did
you learn about your skill set? What did you learn about yourself?

I have learned a lot from my capstone project about myself, my skill set and Mental health in general.
Firstly, when coming to my skill set, I learned to be Creative and critical with my thinking, I learned to
manage my well-being and my self-determination, And I also learned many forms of design. I needed
to have creative and critical thinking when thinking of new fitness ideas and ways that people can
benefit from my website, even if they are just a beginner or if they are Very advanced with their
fitness. When managing my well-being, I learned How to stay motivated to continue going to the gym
and trying to go on a walk every day after school Because it helped clear my head and take care of my
stress. And I also learned how to be determined because I needed to finish my project and assignments
within certain deadlines, and I needed a lot of self-determination to get those things done. I learned
the forms of design through the website I created as I had no experience and had to start from scratch.
I feel like the skills that I used throughout my capstone helped me a lot and will help me for the rest of
my life. Some things I learned about my subject was the connection of physical and mental health. All
my research Showed me the psychological and scientific benefits and. It was helpful towards my
project. I also learned A variety of fitness options Other than just gym workouts because Some people
prefer being outside and some people can't afford a gym membership and some people feel
comfortable doing fitness at their house So, I researched those methods so my website can be inclusive
for everyone. Lastly, a few things I learned about myself was that I enjoy being around my friends
when doing physical activity because they help encourage me and we help each other stay motivated
and consistent with the fitness that we do. I also learned that the more consistent I am, the better I will
be at the things that I'm doing and the more knowledge I'll have Regarding whatever topic I'm working
on. And finally, I learned that I love being outdoors and doing fitness outdoors because the fresh air
helps clear my head and I enjoy going on daily walks Whenever I have time. overall, i learned a lot of
things while doing my capstone project that i hope i will remember for my future years during
university because they can be very helpful

2. How is your project relevant to you? How is it relevant to the school? How is it relevant to the
community?

My project is relevant to me and to whoever uses my website as a reference to their fitness and mental
health journey because it highlights 2 very important things in everyone's day to day lives. Physical
activity, and good mental health. especially for beginners who Look onto my website. It is a very good
guide to Start a fitness journey and then later move on to more difficult things once They have more
experience. Personally, it was relevant to me because it helped me Assess what level I was at for each
type of fitness and make goals on things I wanted to reach eventually through my fitness journey. The
mental health aspect of my project is relevant to me and to other users because at times we forget to
take care of our mental health and prioritize it and I believe that the first step to success is having good
mental health because without good mental health you cannot think properly or function the way you
want to. Since my capstone project. Was focused on mental health it is beneficial for people who use
it. Overall, I think my project is relevant and helpful for anyone who uses it and can be a very good
source for people who are wanting to learn and try new things while taking care of themsleves

3. What impact did your Capstone have on you?

My capstone had a big impact on my mental and physical health, and it also helped me with my self-
determination and goal setting skills. Working on my capstone project was challenging and rewarding.
The pressure to meet deadlines and have good quality work often made me stressed but, it also
pushed me to find good stress management techniques, like time management strategies. Managing
my time was important for completing my capstone and is a great skill to carry on with me for the rest
of my life. My capstone project needed long hours of focused work, which sometimes turned into
staying up late nights to finish my work, as I had other commitments like working after school. At first i
felt very drained with the workload and all my other commitments aside from school, but eventually i
made an effort to incorporate physical activity into my day, no matter how busy I was, even if it was
just a 10-minute walk. Regular exercise became a crucial part of my schedule, because it helps me
manage my stress, and improves my energy. The capstone project revolved around my self-
determination. There were many obstacles and challenges and I had to stay motivated and committed
to my goal of finishing the project. This experience taught me the importance of staying determined. I
realized that with dedication and hard work, I could overcome the challenges and achieve my goals.
One of the most valuable skills I gained from my capstone project was goal setting. My project required
breaking down a large idea, into different areas and this process helped me Learn to prioritize certain
things and adjust goals to make me more organized and productive. Overall, my capstone had a
positive impact on me and helped me form good habits to be used forever.

4. What aspects of your project are you most proud of?

Some aspects of my project that I am most proud of and enjoyed the most were creating a great
website, working on my personal growth both mentally and physically, and creating something that
will have a positive impact on anyone who uses it. I am proud of myself for creating a detailed,
informative, and aesthetic website that provides good resources and helpful tips on fitness and mental
health. I had no experience with creating websites and for my first try, i feel like it turned out good and
i am proud of it. I find that the website is easy to navigate through and the important things are bolded
and easy to read and follow. Secondly, the personal and physical growth i developed throughout the
project like self-discipline and stability with a routine is something I'm proud of because the skills i
practiced helped me build a steady start to not only my project, but for all my other classes Aswell. I
was consistent with my fitness and workouts which benefited my body really well and helped clear my
mind which is a good coping mechanism i can use in my future during stressful situations. Overall, I'm
glad i created something that will help other people help themselves, that makes me happy!

5. What was a difficulty you encountered while researching your Capstone project? How were you able to
overcome those obstacles?
Some difficulty i encountered while researching for my project was firstly, thinking of what to even
research, and secondly, finding proper and accurate sources. I knew i needed to do research on mental
health, but since that is sucha. Broad topic, i needed to narrow down exactly what kind of information i
needed for my project to include onto my website, like the overall meaning of mental health, and why
it's so important to maintain a healthy lifestyle with mental health. I wasn't very familiar with jstor so I
needed to learn how to navigate around it and what i specifically needed to search for. I read through
many articles and journals and something that helped me was looking for key words like mental health,
well-being, and fitness, while reading, because sometimes the articles would be very long so i would
need to skim through it quickly. I also needed to do some side research on what workouts i can add to
my gym page, and i found tik Tok very helpful with this area, although tik Tok isn't an academic source,
I didn't need the workouts to be from an academic source. I struggled to find workouts that would suit
beginners and experienced people, so i had to find a way to mix both into the workout i made for my
website. Overall, my capstone didn't need too much research so i didn't have too many issues with
finding what i needed, but when i did encounter any issues or had any questions i asked my teachers
for help and guidance on what to do.

6. What is the one thing you would have changed about your project if you could?

Although i am very proud of my project and happy with how it all worked out, I would change the fact
that i focused on so many different forms of fitness, and instead i would go in depth and detail for one
specific kind, like gym workouts. Originally my plan was to only focus on gym workouts and make 4-5
gym plans and demonstrations, but I decided to include other forms like outdoor and at home fitness
so that my website would have variety and so everyone could find something to do. I think doing that
made my project harder on me because there was so much more I needed to do, and they were all in
different areas. If I were to focus on just the gym workouts, I probably would've made some sort of
nutrition plan, and gotten a few people to try out my plan and record their results after a month, to see
if it's beneficial. I think doing that would target only a specific group of people, but it would be easier
on my end as I was going to the gym daily anyway, so I could get lots of work done without changing
my routine too much

7. What advice would you offer to future Capstone students to help them with their Capstone journey?

I have lots of advice I would offer to future capstone students to help them with their project. Firstly,
START EARLY! The project was introduced to us in the beginning of the course, but we were also given
many assignments that were unrelated to capstone, which I feel like students don't expect from
careers 12 (like me), so starting early and brainstorming as soon as the project is introduced can be
very helpful. The sooner i decided what i wanted to do my project on, the earlier I was able to start
working on it at home and in class during work blocks. Secondly, it's super important to stay focused
on the work and not get distracted, whether it's at school, or at home. I found myself getting easily
distracted in class when work blocks were given to us, so my friends and i started having “phone jail” to
help us focus and get work done. Alot of times i would need to miss on some hangouts with my friends,
or my daily after school nap, to be able to spend time working on my capstone from home because
that's when i had the most time to get progress done with my project. Staying focused was hard at first
but finding methods like “phone jail” and prioritizing school before fun at times was really helpful.
Thirdly, the most basic one, ask for help. I not only asked for help from my career's teacher, but also
from other teachers, friends, and adults in my life. I would constantly ask for other opinions especially
because i was trying new things which I've never done before, like creating a website, and trying at
home fitness. My friends also helped me stay motivated and complete all the workouts i needed to do
for my project. Asking for help made my project better and made my life much less stressful than it
needed to be, don't be afraid to be annoying and ask LOTS of questions, because that’s what will
ensure a strong and good final product. The last piece of advice that i would give is to try and think
outside of the vox and maybe try something that you are not very used to. Being creative and trying
new things makes the experience more fun and allows you to learn more than what you already know.
Have fun!
