❶ PRONUNCIATION
Ending sound ed (Âm đuôi ed)
Âm đuôi ed với động từ có 3 cách phát âm:
- Phát âm là /ıd/ khi động từ tận cùng bằng hai phụ âm /t/, /d/. (Chúng ta có thể ghi nhớ /t/ và /d/ là TÀI
và ĐỨC cho dễ nhớ).
- Phát âm là /t/ khi động từ tận cùng bằng các phụ âm vô thanh /ch/, /p/, /f/, /s/, /k/, /th/, /ʃ/ /tʃ/.
- Phát âm là /d/ đối với các trường hợp còn lại.

❸ GRAMMAR
1. “ed” and “ing” adjectives (Tính từ đuôi -ed và đuôi -ing)
Tính từ có thể được thành lập bằng cách thêm ed hoặc ing vào sau một số động từ.
Ví dụ:
Verb Adj-ing Adj-ed
amaze amazing amazed

- Ta sử dụng tính từ dạng “V-ed” khi muốn diễn tả cảm xúc của một ai đó. Tính từ dạng “V-ed” thường
dùng cho người.
Ví dụ:
I was surprised a lot when I got ten for the examination.
- Ta sử dụng tính từ dạng “V-ing” khi muốn miêu tả tính chất người, tính chất này là nguyên nhân gây
ra xúc cảm. Tính từ thường được dùng cho vật.
Ví dụ:
The film is so boring.
I was bored by the film.
2. Although, in spite of, despite (Cụm từ và mệnh đề chỉ sự tương phản)
- Ta sử dụng although, in spite of, despite với nghĩa “mặc dù”
Although được theo sau bởi một mệnh đề gồm cả chủ ngữ và vị ngữ.
Although + S + V, S + V
Ví dụ:
Although the sky is full of cloud, it does not rain.
Mặc dù trời nhiều mây, trời không mưa.
Although his leg was broken, he didn’t cry.
Mặc dù bị gãy chân, anh ấy không khóc.
In spite of và despite được theo sau bởi danh từ hoặc cụm danh từ.
In spite of/ despite + Noun/ Noun phrase/ V-ing, S + V
Ví dụ:
In spite of being full of cloud, it does not rain.
Mặc dù trời nhiều mây, trời không mưa.
Despite his broken leg, he didn’t cry.
Mặc dù bị gãy chân, anh ấy không khóc.
