Today I want to talk about a very interesting city

of Mainz. First, a little information about him.

City of Mainz (Germany)

Mainz is a city in western Germany, the capital

of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Located at the mouth of the river Main, which
flows into the Rhine. Mainz is one of the oldest
cities in Germany with a history of 2000 years.
This is one of the main cultural centers of the
country, in which Gutenberg invented printing.
The city has a small but beautiful Altstadt, and a
walk along the Rhine will give you real pleasure.
Mainz is located on the western (left) bank of
the Rhine, approximately halfway between the
North Sea and Lake Constance. The elevation
difference is from 82 meters to 249 meters
above sea level. The annual rainfall is just over
600 mm. The average annual temperature is
10.1 0C. Summers are warm and humid,
winters are mild.
Now that you already know what Mainz is, I
would like to recommend you one exciting
place in this city.
Kirschgarten area
Important tourist attractions in the Old Town
include the Cherry Orchard or Kirschgarten
Square. Despite its rather modest size,
Kirschgarten is one of the most ancient (exists
since at least 1329) and the most visited places
in Mainz.

There really is something to see here.

Surrounded by the Cherry Orchard, there are
three-story half-timbered houses painted in
bright colors. In the center rises a garden
fountain, decorated with a copy of the
legendary Harksheimer Madonna. For this, it is
often called Marian and Madonna.

For the construction of this fountain, the

decorative structures of the destroyed medieval
bridge, made of rare red sandstone, were used.
If you look at the bottom, you can see the relief,
which until 1805 was located in the now non-
existent Blasius Chapel.
