Swami Satchidananda Maharaj, a world renowned Yoga Master, founder of
Integral Yoga Institutes in various parts of the world, visualised the need for
a school of par excellence. The school SATCHIDANANDA JOTHI NIKETHAN
is His brain child. To bring this into reality, Swamiji has established a trust, viz
Swami Satchidananda Foundation.
Swami Satchidananda Maharaj, known as Sri Gurudev by His disciples, was
born on 22nd December,1914 in Chettipalayam, on the outskirts of
Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. During His period of intense sadhana, He
studied under many great sages and saints of South India. In 1947 He met
His master His Holiness Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj, founder of the
Divine Life Society. On10th July,1949 in Rishikesh, He was initiated into the
Holy Order of Sanyas. In 1953, Swami Sivanandaji sent Him to Sri Lanka
where He served for the next 13 Years.
In1966, Sri Swamiji was invited to New York for an intended 2 day visit. He
was immediately surrounded by students who wanted to study yoga, Lotus Temple,
Yogaville, Virginia, USA
under His guidance. He extended his stay in the U.S. to fulfill their wishes.
He is highly respected and loved by devotees all over the world. He is the
founder of Integral Yoga Institute with centres throughout North America,
Europe and India. Sri Swamiji Himself does not belong to any one faith,
group or country. Dedicated to the principle - "Truth is one. Paths are many"
- He travelled and served wherever he was invited. He had long dream of a
permanent place where all can come together to individually realise that
one Truth behind all names and forms. The LOTUS (Light Of Truth Universal
Shrine) is such a place, opened in July 1986, the shrine, inspired and
designed by Sri Swamiji himself, is located in the U.S.A. at Satchidananda
Ashram, Yogaville in Virginia. It is dedicated to the light of all faiths and to
world peace and stands as a beautiful example of the Universal teachings of
Sri Swami Satchidananda Maharaj.

It lasts about a month in May every Year.
SUMMER CAMP
After the Final examinations are over, every year, the School
conducts a summer camp for a fortnight in sports – Hockey,
Cricket, Basket Ball, Table-tennis, Tennis, Badminton,
Swimming etc., and a Knowledge Quest Camp to make
children improve their personality. This camp includes
communication skills, drawing, debating, etc., With a slogan
“Catch them Young,” this camp has been the most sought after
one in the month of April-May every year.
SHORT BREAK
There will be a short break of 5-6 days, for Deepavali & Pongal.
Students from near by places will be permitted to go home.
Other students can stay in the school if so desired. Long week
ends calendared, help children to see their family members
and get themselves recharged.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
REGISTRATION
Every year the registration for Classes IV - IX
(admission to the forthcoming academic year) will
open in October and for std XI after the declaration of
class X results of CBSE.
ELIGIBILITY TEST
Eligibility test both in written and oral - interface - to
assess the suitability of your child's stay in hostel will
be conducted. Dates of both will be intimated well in
advance. All the students registered are to take up
the eligibility test.
RESULTS
Results of the eligibility test will be communicated
within a fortnight. Admission forms will be made
available along with the results of the eligibility test
with all the necessary instructions and formalities.
ADMISSION
Admissions will be based on the result of the
eligibility test, followed by a personal discussion.
Every student will be tested in English, Maths and
Language.
Our main intake will be in Class IV, V, VI, VII and incase
of Vacancies arising in higher standards, admissions
may be considered.
Students should have completed 8 years for class IV,
9 years for class V and 10 years for class VI and so on at
the time of joining.
