I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the discussion, the learners should be able to:
a. identify the common preposition (in, on, to, and from);
b. distinguish difference in the kinds of prepositions (in, on, to, and from); and
c. use prepositions in a sentences.

Prepositions
- Are words that are used to link a
noun or phrase to another part of the
sentence. (Listening)
- It shows where something or
someone is.

Examples:
- in
- on
- from
- To

“These words can be used in showing place,


direction, time, relation, or to introduce an
object”

“Again, those are examples of?” “In, on, from, and to are examples of
preposition”
“Good!”

IN – We use in to tell that a thing is inside of


something.

Examples:

The cat is in the box.


“Where is the cat?” “It is inside the box”

“Absolutely!”
The clothes are in the cabinet.

“Where are the clothes?” “The clothes are inside the cabinet”

“Good!”

ON – We use on when something is touching


the surface of something. (Listening)

Examples:

The cat is on the box.

“Where is the cat?” “The cat is touching the surface of the

“On and in can be used in pointing out day


and time”

In – Can be more general

- We use this to refer to the place

Examples:

- We use this to describe the direction (Listening)
of movement toward a destination.

Examples:
- I ran to the store.
