EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
As a part of my CSP I observed the problems in the village and then started
survey in the village. I started understanding the problems in the village day-by-day. I finally
decided to give an awareness to the people about crop rotation in the village.
• A nalyze and resolved issues in f armi ng sector and abl e to suggest the best practices.
• This technique prevents destruction of soil structure , aeration and water holding
capacity.
• Able to tackle one of the main problem such as reduction in productivity with the
practice of crop rotation .

OVERVIEW OF THE COMMUNITY
In India, the agriculture sector employs half ofcountry’s population and we are greatly
dependent on the farmers to provide us with means of sustenance.
Due to sudden changes in the climate improper usage of the fertilizers and lack of knowledge
about the organic farming farmers are getting losses in the crop yields.
Crop rotation is one of the organic way to increase crop yield and improves the soil health and
best way to save the environment
The main source of income for the villagers is agriculture lands and farming earn.
The
villagers also earn their livelihood by going to daily wages in nearby cities.
Men and wo men both started working in the vil l age. So me people also go to nearby
cities as a daily wage workers. The literacy rate of the village is 48.6%. the villagers also rear
cattle and provide dairy products to nearby vi l lages. The main agricultural commodities in the
village are paddy, cotton. The canals cover almost more of the area present in the village.

COMMUNIT Y SERVICE PART
• Communi ty service might include taking part in a graffiti clean- up project. The term
co mmuni t y service refers to any act that is performed for the benefit of the community at
large. Acts can range from a onetime.
• During the period of the co mmunity service project, we have gone through many
activities like Group discussion, poster making, making choices, communication among the
group, and interaction with the farmers
• During the interaction with the farmers, I have learnt many new things about farmers
and their life style, being a farmer is not an easy task it takes lot of patience, even though
sometimes they faces huge losses from the crop but they never stop cultivation, they always
start with a new hope.
• The thing I have learnt from farmers is never give up attitude and no matter whatever
the situations are just face them and move towards your goals.
• While interaction with the farmers I had shared my research based information about
crop rotation with them.
• Explained them about the safety measures taken to reduce crop failure and also got to
know that the old practices to protect crops still prevail in villages.
• Given power poi nt presentation on crop rotation ai mi ng as a natural and benef i ci al
practice

After knowing the detailed view of the problems in the village, I approached the grama
sarpanch of the village to get the permission to give some awareness program to farmers on the
crop rotation which can improve the health of the soil and getting large productivity. Finall y
the sarpanch granted the permission to do project.
With the help of the grama volunteer I got a detailed view about the streets and
total
number of people living in the village. She gave me the detailed view of the village.
From my detailed survey I came to conclude that the mo st of the farmers are using
chemical fertilizers to i mprove soil health and nutrition we gave lack of awareness on crop
rotation without using chemical fertilizers. They reportedly said that they are facing the problem
regarding the chemical fertilizers.
I prepared a detailed view about the problems that are faced by the villagers and I
myself
interacted with the villagers to know further more problems in the village.
It is a big village where mo st of the people mai nl y follow their early cultures and
traditions. I felt very glad to know about the age- old traditions and cultures they follow in

Objective of the Activity Done:Understanding the effects of planting the same crop
repeatedly.
Detailed Report:
A fter the detailed survey from the people in the co mmuni t y I decided to continue my
survey on the awareness on the soil health and crop rotation for the villagers. I also observed
many farmers are using chemical fertilizers and they don’t know the effect by using that
chemical Fertilizers in their land by the crop rotation we can improve the production without
using any chemical fertilizers.
In detailed survey I observed that the farmers planting the same crops repeatedly in the
vi l lages. By this process the soil will lose its nutrients and its health, by losing the nutrientsthe
production will be reduced.
I started testing the land in the village I observed that the soil having less
nutritions.by using some chemical fertilizers the land also polluted. I found that there were no
idea and encouragement to do crop rotation.
In my detailed survey I observed that the farmers doesn’t have aware about the
production reductivity caused by plating the same crop in every season and how our future will
be effected by the less productivity. So, I decided to create some basic awareness about the soil
health and crop rotation process.

they are not getting the profit.
I also observed that the main source of livelihood for the villagers is the agriculture.
they mostly depend on the farming land. It cameto my notice that supply of dairy products
to the nearby towns are also the source of income for the villagers.
The villagers are mainly following their ancestral cultures and traditions over the years
still following them.
In my detailed survey report, after communicating with the farmers I came to know that
the farmers cultivate both short term and long- term crops. T hey mainl y cultivate paddy and

problems which is the production redundancy in there village.
The sarpanch gave the permission to solve this problem. We just went to the fields and
take
a sample of soil for soil testing lab.
After getting the testing result of the soil the lab testers confirmed that the soil has the
less nutrients. So the health of the soil is purely damaged by the cause of this much damage the
production should be less. Obviously the farmer get loss.
At the last i just meet with the farmers and gave the information and process of the
crop

Q uesti onnai r e:
Q1: What is Crop Rotation?
Response: Crop rotation is the practice of growing a series of different types of crops in the
same area across a Sequence of growing seasons; it reduces reliance on one setup nutrients,
pest and weed pressure, and the probability of developing resistant pests and weeds.
Q2: What is need of crop rotation?
Response: Crop rotation planning a different crop on a particular piece of land each growing
season is required in organic crop production because it is such a useful tool in preventing soil
diseases insect Pests weed problems and for building healthy soils.
Q3: What is crop rotation in farming?
Response: Crop rotation is planned sequences of crops over time on the same field. rotating
crop Provides Productivity benefits by improving soil nutrient levels and breaking crops pest
cycles.
Q4: Why is crop rotation important?
Response: Rotating crops helps maintain or improve soil health and maintain or increases the
Productivity of the Farm over ti me. To get the mo st benef it from rotation, growers should
schedule Sequential plantings based on rotational groups of plans belonging to the same plant
fami ly.
Q5: How often should you crop rotate?
Response: An ideal rotation is every three or four years, so if you can make three to four raised
beds, you can Complete a full rotation of plant families.
Q6: What is advantage of crop rotation?
Response: Improves fertility, Controls weeds, Income is maintained throughout the year.
Response: Soil depth- large rotated crops, such as tomatoes, potatoes and corn, cannot be
grown in shallow soil. This limits the ability to rotate crops as recommended
Q8: How does crop rotation help the environment?
Response: By adding small grains and forages into rotation, less fertilizer is required and less
pollution is emitted, the addition of single small grain crop can reduce fossil fuel use, pollution
and damages by about one half,
According to the research.
Q9: What is two field crop rotation?
Response: Despite the no of papers and researches showing the benefits of alternative cropping
systems Sole cropping with the due crop rotations seems to be the dominant option applied by
farmers.

R epor t of the mini-project work done in the related subject w.r.t the
farming.
I started my survey to give awareness regarding the crop rotation and effects of using
same crops repeatedly in the vi l lages. I started my first day in the village by knowing the
detailed view of the village. I also started to study about the localities and the population of the
vi l lage. I also collected info regarding the literacy rate and the sources of i nco me for the
vi l lagers.
Through my co mmunity service project I learned the skill of interaction with the
villagers and the officials present in the village. After getting the detailed view of the village I
decided to study the problems present in the village. I made a clear note on all the problems
present in the village. The main problems that i observed in the village are:
Some of the farmers want to do crop rotation but they need some guidance.
By using of chemical f ertil izers to make large production the farmers didn’t get expected
profits.
25
I started my door-to-door survey in the village .I prepared few questionnaires to interact
with the villagers and to muc h more about their problems. I also took the help of the grama
volunteer. Interacting with them gives better experience. I began to start my survey in a better
way. I divided the total work for the 8 weeks. After surveying each house I came to know their
problems much betterly. In my survey I came to know many new problems that are faced by the
villagers. The response from thevillager’s side is also satisfying they also responded in a better
way. I felt very glad to know about the age-old cultures and traditions in the village. I learnt
about the modern solutions to the problems in the village.
Through this community service project , one can acquire knowledge not only from the
books but also from the public as we know that that the life is precious and we should protect
our health by ourselves. I started to give basic guidance about the crop rotation and the effect
of chemical fertilizers.I explained them about the uses of organic f armi ng on our day- to- day
daily life. I also observed that farmers are showing intrest to do crop rotation after knowing the
advantages of the it.
I communicated with the farmers about the importance of crop rotation. I also
communicate with the farmers regarding the crops they are cultivating and the fertilizers they
are using to get large amount of production . I decided to give an awareness to them regarding
the crop rotation. Crop rotation is helpful to the farmers to get the better yield and get the large
amount of production .
I also decided to share my views regarding the solution to the problem to farmers. I
explained about the crop rotation and it’s uses. I explained about the effects of using chemical
fertilizers to increase production. The diseases also caused with that chemical fertilizers to their
family. After knowing these things many farmers are want to do crop rotation, with that change
I too felt very happy.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS OF THE MINI
PROJ ECT
Firstly, I thank the college for this opportunity to do this community service project. I
also express my sincere gratitude to the project guide for helping me complete my project.
The problems that I identif ied in the agriculture are reduction of production and not
getting the expected profits. I also observed that many people are suffering with dif f erent
diseases because of the people using so me chemical fertilizers to get large amount of
productivity. I started my survey to work on the problems in the village. I decided to work out
on the problems that I noticed in the village. I began to interact with the villagers and I asked
them few questionnaires which helped to carry out my project very simply.
Fromthe community service project, I learned the skill of interaction with the villagers.
I will be able to know the traditions and the customs in the village. I will be able to learn the
communication skills in a better way. I will be able to develop a problem analysis skill andit’s
solving skill.
I also communicated with the students present in the school and created basic awareness
to them regarding the agriculture and crop rotation in the school premises and in their houses.
T hey interacted with me very well, they also interacted me with their doubts regarding their
career.
The vil lagers will be abl e to know about the diseases caused by using that
chemical
fertilizers and say no to fertilizers and make the crop rotation process.
