I. Synopsis
“Alone/Together”
College sweethearts Christine (Liza Soberano) and Raf (Enrique Gil) meet again for the first
time, eight years after their breakup. Tin is no longer the idealistic magna cum laude UP student
that she once was and Raf is no longer a biology student from UST who used to fail exams and
cut classes. Christine, who once was an over-achieving art student, has become a failure while
Raf, a guy nobody thought would be a great man, is now an esteemed doctor to the barrios. As
both now live a life different from each other, their reunion takes them back to their youth and
the dreams they shared back in the day. From then on, familiar feelings start to resurface and
they find themselves falling in love with each other again.

II. Critiquing

The film pertains to the great impact of love. It usually for those people who can relate, but all
viewers of alone/together really overcome their emotions which leads to felt the pain, the
happiness scenes, the tears which became the result after they watched the film. It indicates
about the true power of love, on how it affects people who consider as destined to each other.
In the film, both Liza and Enrique displayed the kind of maturity that they previously weren't
able to express in their rom-com films. More than just a dramatic love story, Alone/Together
reminds us of our youth, of the dreams we had in college, of the people we met and lost along the
way. This film marked specially to the generation for today because it emphasizes reality with
the sense of modernization, the generation of centennials and millennials can relate and not just
watching to joined trends or what’s popular, but they might claim many lessons and strategies or
ways that may apply to their life by watching this film.

III. Reflection

Alone/Together was a more personal experience for me than I ever thought it would be. Like
Enrique's character Raf, recently I’m studying in college and I encountering called the 'real
world' and face lot and different kinds of struggles. Raf has similarity to myself because before I
was also irresponsible, truant, and totally dependent on my partner, but now I can handle things
and conflicts independently, I’m becoming a hardworking person because I have dreams. The
film was like seeing to show what would my life can be. And when he finally became his own
person in the end, it was like seeing a reflection of who I am to the future; being hardworking
can lead to being successful.
