Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC) is a registered charity (1140017)
providing a unique and highly effective way of helping kids with
cancer through activity and exercise

Cyclists Fighting Cancer give new bikes, tandems and specially

adapted trikes to children and young people who have been
affected by cancer throughout the UK. The effects of the disease
and its treatments in children are numerous; amputations, balance
issues, physical weakness, coordination difficulties, lack of self
esteem are just a few of the most common side effects seen in
many patients. Tyler Sansom

Exercise has been shown in numerous adult studies to be the

single most effective way of improving both physical and mental
wellness for people surviving cancer. CFC encourage cycling as the
best form of exercise based rehabilitation especially for children
because it provides all these benefits in a low impact, fun, sociable
and exciting way.

Cancer also causes massive disruption in families, therefore CFC

aims to give bikes to their siblings and in many cases their parents

CFC plan to supply another 300 awards this year which will
take their total since they started in 2006 to over 1300 bikes. In
addition CFC are funding a dedicated research study with the
University of Leeds to clearly illustrate the relationship between
physical and mental well being and physical activity in children

release clamp, this high quality wicker basket comes supplied

fits all standard and oversized handlebars and once attached,
can stay on the bike while you take the basket on and off at

RATTANBASKET
Using a synthetic Rattan material, this
basket looks great and will withstand the

WIREBASKET
Constructed using fine mesh steel, this black basket will hold

SWITCHHELMET
The Switch is a bit of a mixed breed, it was
originally designed for commuters, but, now
it’s finished, we think it would look great for
hybrid riders, or pottering around the park on

more information on what each standard relates to. You can use this as a guide for each
model’s intended use and its limitations.

BS EN14765; Bicycles for young children. (permissable total weight of rider + luggage + bicycle
= 60kg) These bicycles are intended for use by children on roads, paths and cycle tracks that are
in good condition. Paths and cycle tracks can be gravel or dirt roads with minor undulations.

BS EN14764; City and trekking bicycles. (permissable total weight of rider + luggage + bicycle =
135kg, Note 105kg for folding bicycles) These bicycles are intended for use on public roads, paths
and cycle tracks that are in good condition. Paths and cycle tracks can be gravel or dirt roads with
minor undulations and small potholes.

BS EN14766; Mountain bicycles. (permissable total weight of rider + luggage + bicycle = 135kg)
These bicycles are intended for use off-road, on rough terrain such as coarse pebble tracks
where tree roots and rocks are likely to be encountered.

BS EN14781; Road Racing Bicycles (permissable total weight of rider + luggage + bicycle = 135kg)
These bicycles are intended for high speed amateur use on public roads but are not considered
specialised racing bicycles for sanctioned competitive events.
