TAIZE PRAYER June 9, 2023
(Bell rings three times)
PROCESSIONAL MARCH
Chant (Jesus Remember me when you come into your kingdom.
Jesus Remember me when you come into your kingdom )
INTRODUCTION
The spirit of faith enables one to trust in God’s benevolent “presence and
providence.” It signifies faith and denotes confidence in God’s will. God is always present
in our midst, despite the chaos of the place we lived in. Even if we are going through an
arduous time in our lives, He always sends his instrument to aid us.
Today, Jesus invites us to travel lightly and not to be burdened with our weights.
He wants us to journey with our comrades and carry out the mission to bring those who are
astray.
(Bell rings three times)
Leader: We pray to you, O Lord, God of life and God of those who hope! Listen to our
prayer for the whole world: For peace among all people, for prosperity in all lands. We
pray to you that evil may be overcome and that all wars may end. We pray to You
especially for the members of our Franciscan Family, who suffer from war, injustice and
intolerance, and for children and young people who are poor and neglected.
We pray too, God, for peace in our lives, in our towns, in our schools, in our
families and in our own hearts. We pray for peace that the world cannot give us. We pray
for peace that will make us whole and transform us to be ambassadors of justice for
Your sake. Amen.
OPENING RESPONSES
(make the sign of the cross: In the name of the Father……)
Leader: O God, make speed to save us.
All: O Lord, make haste to help us.
Leader: Reveal among us the light of your presence.
All: That we may behold your power and glory.
TAIZE PRAYER June 9, 2023
OPENING PRAYER
Leader: God of heavenly wisdom, you have given us Mary, Mother of Jesus, to be our guide
and counselor. Grant that we may always seek her motherly help in this life and so enjoy her
blessed presence in the life to come. O Mother of Good Counsel, Patroness of the National Council
of Catholic Women, intercede for us, that we may be wise, courageous and loving leaders of the
Church. Help us, dear mother, to know the mind of Jesus, your son. May the Holy Spirit fill us
with reverence for God’s creation, and compassion for all God’s Children. May our labors of love
on earth enhance the reign of God and may God’s gifts of faith and living hope prepare us for the
fullness of the world to come.
Father, as we gather here together in this Holy place, bless us. Be with us here in the power
of your spirit. Pour out that spirit once more upon us to enlighten our hearts and minds to reflect
your messages to us in this TAIZE prayer. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
All: Amen
Chant (Veni Sancte Spiritus
Come Holy Spirit)
Leader: Lord, grant that we may always allow ourselves to be guided by You, always follow
Your plans, and perfectly accomplish Your holy Will. Grant that in all things, great and small,
today and all the days of our life, We may do that which Your sweet pleasure, Your holy Will,
may require of us.
Help us to respond to the slightest prompting of Your grace, that we may become a
trustworthy instrument for Your honor, and that Your holy Will may be done in time and eternity
by us, in us, and through us.
All: By Your will, grant us.
Chant (Adoramus Te Domine
We Adore Thee)

TAIZE PRAYER June 9, 2023
Gospel Reading (Luke 10:1-9)
Leader: A Holy Gospel according to St. Luke
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him
to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the
workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do
not greet anyone on the road. “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone
who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there,
eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move
around from house to house. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to
you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
This is the Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ
Chant (Tui Amoris Ignem
Holy Spirit Come to Us Instrumental)
Meditation: All Sit
Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples for the purpose of helping people to hear and accept
His teachings. Their assistance was needed, not for some future date after Jesus had ascended into
heaven but during the time He was there in flesh. They worked in pairs to give support and
companionship to each other. Imagine what tremendous results could be achieved if our churches,
each day would send out seventy-two Christian believers to work in the community. These teams
of disciples could show the poor how they can be spiritually rich and convey to those in the inner
city that there is hope. Our thirty-six pairs of disciples could comfort the dying with the message
that in other world they will have another opportunity to live. The public, in general, could find
encouragement in the wonderful messages from Psalms. How happy some would be to hear
modern-day disciples speak of God’s law refreshing the soul? The world could be led to understand
that God’s wisdom comes to those with open minds and that lasting joy can be found in right living
where millions of Christian people out in society each day, but the world does not seem to be
improving.

INTERCESSIONS
Leader: Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Let us pray in communion with all the saints
on earth and heaven, with the martyrs and the faithful in all ages, and in the name of the Lamb
who was slain, who alone is worthy of worship. We bring before you all our needs, trusting that
you will hear them. God of Saints, make your church a holy church, a praying church, a giving
church, a serving church. We pray,
Let our response be: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (1): God of Peace, we pray that those in authority may follow the example of
our Patron Saint, Francis, who worked for peace and love. Guide the leaders of all nations that
justice may prevail throughout the world. Let not the needy be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor
be taken away. Make us instruments of your peace and let your glory be over all the earth. We
pray,
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (2): God of Compassion, bring healing and hope to those who grieve, suffer pain
or have been affected in any way by the effects of COVID 19. We remember those who have died
and we pray for those who mourn for them. May we all be aware of your compassion, which
calms our troubled hearts and shelters our anxious souls.. We pray.

O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (3): God of Justice, keep us from being preoccupied with money and worldly
goods, and with trying to increase them at the expense of justice. Help us not to be ruthless with
one another, and to eliminate the discord and violence that exists around us. Let us not be impatient
under our own burdens and unconcerned about the burdens of others. Make us thirst for you and
actively spread your influence in our private lives and in society. Grant that we may be quick to
forgive and slow to condemn. Aid us to make peace in our families, in our country, and in the
world. We pray.
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (4): God of Healing, we bring to you those whose lives are darkened by pain,
fear or weariness. Come to our aid; help us to bear what must be carried, and take from us all
resentment and bitterness, replacing it with the abundance of peace. We remember the elderly, the
housebound, and the lonely. And we pray for all those who selflessly minister to the needs of
others. We pray.
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (5): God of Fellowship, we pray for our families and friends, that you will keep
and give them what they deeply needed. We thank you for the fellowship of your people here on
earth. May we as a family of your people be rooted and established in your love and come to know
the extent of your grace as you dwell in us. We pray
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader (6): God of Eternity, we thank you for all the saints – those recognised by the
Church and those known only to a few, and to you. We praise you for their example and rejoice
that they live in heaven with every tear wiped away. In your mercy may all who have died in your
friendship know your lasting peace. We pray
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
TAIZE PRAYER June 9, 2023
Leader (7): Watch over those who are leaders in your Church. Keep them faithful to
their vocation and to the proclamation of your message. Teach them to recognize and interpret
the signs of the times. Strengthen them with the gifts of the Spirit, and help them to serve their
subjects, especially the poor and lowly. Give them a vivid sense of your presence in the world
and a knowledge of how to show it to others. We pray
All: O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; when I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer; come and listen to me.
Leader: Gathered around the wooden cross of God’s love, we stand on holy ground. And
so we pray to the father as our savior has taught us.
(Joining hands and praying the Lord’s prayer…. Our Father………)
In silence we make our private prayers to God.
Leader: God our Father, You free those who live in darkness with the light of your truth.
Speak your life-giving word to us again, that we may live in the wisdom that is yours alone. We
ask this through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
All: Amen
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC (LOW): (Setting up for Adoration of The Cross)
ADORATION OF THE CROSS
(All gathered around in semi-circle)
Leader: We are all sinners. God’s love for us continues, in spite of our unworthiness.
Since God’s love for us never fails- we should represent this very important
fact by bringing the wooden cross into the center of this place.
My dear brothers and sisters, we are here gathered around the symbol of
God’s constant love for us….. The Wooden cross, prayer around the cross
is a way of expressing an invisible communion not only with the crucified
Jesus but also with all who suffer: all victims of abandonment, abuse,
discrimination or torture. Those who wish come up to the cross to pray: you
can place your forehead on the Cross, as a sign of entrusting silently to
Christ all the burdens as well as the difficulties of your parents, relatives
and friends.
