Introduction

For our Rural Community Engagement assessment, village named Sawangi was
assigned to us. During our visits to the village, we have identified a significant
problem of abundance of street lights. We have planned to solve this problem to our
best efforts.

Problem Identified
“Addressing Lack of street lights in the village.”

In the village of Sawangi, a pressing issue has been identified regarding the lack of
proper street lighting infrastructure. Currently, the village relies solely on small electric
bulbs mounted on each electric pole, which falls short of providing adequate
illumination for the roads. This deficiency in street lights poses significant challenges,
especially during the night, as it compromises safety and increases the risk of accidents
and crime. Additionally, limited lighting inhibits the villagers' mobility and access to
essential services at night, impacting their overall quality of life. Addressing this issue
is crucial to enhance safety, improve accessibility, and promote community well-being
in Sawangi.
Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)
SDG 9 : Industry Innovation and Infrastructure

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

(SDG 9) aims to build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable
industrialization, and foster innovation. This goal emphasizes the importance of
developing reliable and sustainable infrastructure, supporting technological innovation,
and enhancing access to essential services for all. Providing street lights in rural areas
aligns with SDG 9 by contributing to the development of resilient infrastructure. Street
lights improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity in rural communities, supporting
economic activities and social interactions. Moreover, implementing energy-efficient
or solar-powered street lighting solutions promotes innovation in the infrastructure
sector, aligning with the goal's objective of fostering sustainable practices and resource
efficiency. Overall, addressing the lack of street lights in rural areas is a vital
component of achieving SDG 9's targets related to industry, innovation, and
infrastructure development.

Project Plan

We decided that the village Sawangi Relies only on small LED bulbs, so we decided to
provide them with street lights in necessary areas.
Implementation

After identifying the problem of inadequate street lighting in Sawangi village, our first
step was to conduct a thorough tour of the village to pinpoint areas where street lights
were most needed. Through this survey, we identified four main parts of the village
that required immediate attention in terms of lighting. Subsequently, we met with the
Surpanch of Sawangi to discuss our project and gain official permission to proceed.
With the Surpanch's approval, we delved into the process of sourcing street lights from
various companies.

Given our initial uncertainty about the project's cost, we sought guidance from Mr.
Goyal, an expert from the Engineering Department, who provided valuable insights
into cost estimation and project management. Additionally, we consulted Mr. Rajiv Sir
from the incubation department, who offered advice on approaching companies for
funding and crafting an effective pitch. Armed with this knowledge, we approached
several major companies located near the Kalmeshwar Industrial Area.

ongoing efforts are focused on securing the necessary funds to bring much-needed
street lighting to Sawangi village and improve the quality of life for its residents .
Future Plans

Our plan entails gathering funds to address the critical issue of inadequate street
lighting in Sawangi village. By installing street lights, we aim to enhance safety,
improve accessibility, and promote community well-being. This initiative not only
addresses immediate concerns but also contributes to sustainable development and
inclusive growth in the village.
