Baseline and Need Assessment

Major problems in the villages included lack of resources, jobs, and access to health, education, and stable livelihoods, forcing many to migrate. The project targeted 40 villages and 11,500 households to address issues in energy, agriculture, livelihoods, sanitation, and computer education. Coal India Limited partnered with TERI to provide solar power systems, clean cookstoves, and other resources. This improved access to clean energy, enabled work and study at night, reduced indoor air pollution for women, and benefited society.
