{rst to allow better access to the 2 hinge bolts and nuts, and (b) bend the
piiginal bracket open to make it easier to remove the salely wires,
Following the inspection and stop-drling of any oracks in the sper web,
Proceed as follows (refer to the assembly drawing included)
}, Dril out 1st and Srd rivets from top, both sides of the rudder. Serew
heads are ilstrated al these locations in the drawing, Oo not rernove the
2nd rivets, shown slightly above the hinge center. Plage the DW.1 Bracke
in the spar, narrow end up, and insert the 2 exiginal screws, I they wort
inearae the bracket holes with @ 0.9 dril. H that isnt enough,
elongate One or both holes. with a rata file 10 obtain a fi. (On sone
rucders the nulplate rivets were misplaced, making this adjustment
ecessary). Tighlen the screws, Salety-wiring fs unnecessary.
2. Attach the OW.1 in place with the two AN- 502 screws that atached the
orginal bracket thu the spar web, Safety wiring is not necessary. ‘The 2
Nutplates on the back of the spar are the fiction (delomed) ype, These
ger carry hinge loads, but theyre sure convenient for
locating the DW1

in he odes of the spar. and ceil the bracket flanges thu the 4 sry
Skin holes wih a # 42 dil. Cleco as you go, Enlarge the holes wih tro
F, Feirstal the rudder. Tum the nosewhee! le and right and deflect the
rudder both ways against the stops, to verty that the madification dees ma
restrict rudder travel,
ris imedfcation adds 0.04 Ibs, at fuselage station 200.5 (same station
