ABOUT SHASUN COLLEGE
Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College for Women has been
recognized as a premier institution of higher learning for women. A centre for
academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions
for Sciences, Humanities and Commerce affiliated to the University of Madras.
Established in 2005, the college has a rich legacy with a generous contribution
made by Smt. Sundarbai Shankarlal Charitable Trust, T. Nagar, Chennai of the
SHASUN Family and Group.
The institution provides a unique opportunity for young women by
promoting quality higher education. The college is accredited with A++ Grade

DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES (SHIFT I & SHIFT II)
Language is an integral part of human life. It plays a vital role in the
learning process and knowledge enhancement of students. The Department of
Languages comprising of English, Tamil, Hindi, French and Sanskrit of Shri
Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College was established to ensure that the
students of the college are adequately prepared to meet the ever- changing needs
of today’s fast-paced world. The department association encourage the talents
and enhance leadership qualities in students. The department has a team of
highly qualified faculty. They extend their services to the college and other
bodies of the institution as members of IQAC, research co-ordination
committees, editors and editorial board members, external auditors and
inspection commission members. They act as resource persons and moderators
in various programs and participate in International and National Conferences,
FDPs, Seminars,Workshops organized at various levels.
What is ideathon?
An ideathon is an inter-collegiate competition, where team of 2
participants is challenged to generate innovative ideas or solutions pertaining to
the topics mentioned below within the limited timeframe.
Ideathon aims to
➢ Foster innovation and creativity
➢ Encourage collaboration and networking
➢ Develop problem solving and entrepreneurial skills
➢ Provide a platform for showcasing ideas and talents
Topics:-
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship relating to Indian Knowledge
System
• (to explore the vast potential of India’s knowledge systems, combining
1 tradition and modernity to create impactful solution).
• Taste the change: Innovate to reduce food wastage
2 • (to explore different ways to reduce food loss and waste management).
• Safety revolution: Innovate for a Zero-accident culture
• (to explore innovative solution to eliminate accident and create a safer
3 living environment).
• Resilient Chennai: Innovate for Flood-Proof Future
4 • (to explore solutions to mitigate impacts of flood in Chennai).
• Her Shield: Innovate for Women’s Safety and Protection
• (To explore solutions to protect women from violence, mental & physical
5 abuse and ensure safety in various aspects of life).

❖ The documents must answer the following questions
➢ What is your idea to solve the specified problem?
➢ How is your solution different from the prevailing ones?
➢ Who are the target beneficiaries?
➢ What changes do you think your idea will bring to the society?
➢ What is the tentative cost and duration needed to implement the same?
➢ Any other information that you need to convey:
❖ You can also attach working model drawing, flowchart or picture of your idea
along with your document. However, it is optional.
❖ The best of 10 entries will be called for offline presentation in the college on
26th of September. The selected teams will be intimated on or before 23rd of
September. Those students have to deliver their ideas in front of the judges
within 5 minutes either using PPT or making Oral Presentation.
❖ Any form of piracy, stealing, copying an idea by the participating team may
lead to direct disqualification.
