from plants; they look for small insects to eat.
Ostriches ______________________________
Honey bees and common wasps, called yellow
jackets, live in colonies. 5
Bees make their colonies from wax, but wasps
make theirs out of small pieces of wood. They put
the wood in their mouths to make it wet and then
they use it to build the colony. Young bees and
wasps live inside the colony. Bees feed their young
with pollen and nectar, and wasps feed theirs with
the insects they catch. Both insects are useful
because bees make honey and wasps kill small
insects that eat plants. They use their sting to kill
the insects, and they sometimes sting people, too. A
wasp can sting a person many times, but a bee can
use its sting only once, and then it dies.
