Writing an Opinion Essay
Steps to Follow
   1. State Your Opinion: Clearly present your viewpoint on the topic.
   2. Provide Supporting Reasons: Offer three reasons to back up your opinion.
   3. Conclude: Summarize your arguments and restate your opinion in different words.
Planning Your Ideas
   ●   Decide Your Stance: Agree or disagree with the topic.
   ●   List Reasons: Provide two or three reasons with supporting facts or examples.
Example:
   ●   Topic: Top sports players are paid too much.
   ●   Opinion: Disagree.
          ○ Reason 1: Careers are very short.
                 ■ Fact: Careers usually end in their 30s, sometimes earlier due to
                    injuries.
          ○ Reason 2: Loss of privacy.
                 ■ Fact: Constantly followed by journalists and fans, and everyone can
                    take photos with phones.
Organizing Your Text
Introduction (Paragraph 1)
   ●   Introduce the topic and state your opinion.
   ●   Example: "Top sports players earn huge salaries, but I believe they deserve it due to
       their short careers and loss of privacy."
Arguments (Paragraph 2 and 3)
   ●   First Argument: Present your first reason with facts.
           ○ Example: "Despite earning a lot, sports careers are short, usually ending in
              their 30s or earlier due to injuries."
   ●   Second Argument: Present additional reasons with examples.
           ○ Example: "Sports stars lose their privacy, constantly followed by journalists
              and fans, and are always at risk of having their photos published on social
              media."
Conclusion (Paragraph 4)
   ●   Summarize your arguments and restate your opinion.
         ○ Example: "To sum up, top sports players deserve their salaries due to their
            short careers and the significant loss of privacy they endure."
Useful Language
