Mandate of Heaven

The land of Yu is in turmoil. The ancient Yuan dynasty, descended from the
Dragon lords of the immortal city of Kunlun, is slowly ending. The last great
Emperor Yuan Wu has died prematurely as the army he lead in the south was
unexpectedly swallowed whole by a great earthquake, on the scale never
seen before. In it’s place, dark gates to Di-Yu, the under realm, were opened.

From those maw like structures, filled with vile dark magic, emerged twisted
creatures, demons of all sorts. Dark magicians, known as Moshu Yin directed
them forth to feast on the remains of the Imperial host. That day is known as
the Harvest.

The entire region of the Shang province was devastated in the matter of
days. Many cities, villages and settlements vanished in smoke and fire. Not
many escaped the hellish horde. In the now bleak lands of cinder and smoke,
only two places stand as something akin to a town. The black cities of Xin Xin
and Xi Lao. Built on the provincial ruins, they are the testament to cruelty
and vileness of it’s masters. The dark horde is led by a demon king by the
name of Shen Dar. Who sits atop his throne of bones in the Vermillion tower
of Zhu, overlooking his black kingdom deemed „Ashlands“ by the common
folk, stretching between the twin black cities. A place so dark, not even sun
dares to show.

To the west of it lies the Tiger kingdom of the young Kung dynasty. The
borders of which are constantly besieged by demons of the Ashlands. The
vast cavalry of lord Lei Kung Wei is waging a battle after battle for survival of
the state, whose prolonged existence is a testament to Lei Kung’s martial
ability. He is the young strategic prodigy, the second of his name to stand as
a head of his own kingdom, after his late father passed early in war with the
dark forces.

The kingdom hosts two great cities, Hu Yun to the east and Wu Qing to the
west. Hu is the largest producer of quality horses and a source of power for
the Tiger army. Wu is a mountain city source of iron second only to the great
mines of Shinjing. Together, the wealth of the kingdom makes it’s army
strong and well equipped, even for it’s smaller size. The south of this land is
cut off by the Moving Sands. An endless ocean of quicksand without bottom,
always moving, making any travel through it impossible.
