1.1 Introduction
This manual describes the proper ways of installation, use and maintenance of the instrument ED640.
This instrument is the expression of the most advanced electronic technology applied to control the amount of
product to be dosed in the plant for concrete production. Designed using the experience gained through many
years of production of control equipment, the instrument was designed to solve the problems that continued
evolution of technology suggests. The realization of the instrument conforms to the type of use, considering
the harsh environments in which it operates. To allow this, and at the same time achieve high quality
assurance, reliability and immediate retrieval of parts, has introduced a new concept for developing the system
very innovative for this type of application. In the event of damage or accidental alteration of data they can be
recharged in minutes via an automatic installation procedure. Using the above techniques you can make
changes to the operation of the instrument, update the program with new versions automatically without having
to intervene in any electrical part of the plant. In this way the tool can use the work programs are constantly
updated according to developments in the technology sector, without changing the mode of operation of
employees, saving for acquiring new work methods.
Considering the great potential of the instrument is possible to implement with programs or other
electromechanical provided by third parties. The instrument can be installed on newly installed power plants
that exist in the latter case without any intervention in the control cabinet. Furthermore the instrument is
capable of recording (for purposes of production control) everything is determined by the product it is
connected.

The FILTER parameter has the purpose to stabilize the values read in input onto the 9-pin connector but the
data output values are provided continuously.

Must be ABSOLUTLY set a minimum filter necessary to obtain the indication of weight stable when the
amount on the balance does not change.

The stabilization is achieved by increasing the number of samples before making available the weight stable,
on the analog output, on serial, on Ethernet and to the display. Spite of the delays due to the acquisition of
samples for the mean, providing continuous readings allows to turn off the LED of the Stable Weight when the
weight (filtered) changes.

The setting values for this parameter are between 1 and 6.

Examples: Response time before release the STABLE WEIGHT value is as per the table below.

NAME NUM. SAMPLE DELAY(s)

5.4.11 CAL-A
SERIAL ADDRESS
To operate with the serial line at the instrument should be assigned a serial identification number or unique
serial address. For a single instrument, connected to the serial line will be given the number 01, if the
instruments are more than one, the number will be assigned progressively starting from that number. For links,
see CONNECTIONS.
It is not possible to coexist instruments with same number on the same serial line.

5.4.12 CAL-B
PEAK
The peak parameter displays the largest value reached up to that point, from the measured quantity in input
onto the 9-pin connector of the instrument. Entering this parameter is activated the threshold of maximum .
At any moment you can reset the peak reached by acting on the ESC key, the indication is brought to the
value currently present at the input. With the function peak actived is available ONLY the minimum threshold
, which is closely related to the indication provided by the instrument. If the value exceeds the threshold
value of the minimum set, the Led turns off and the relay contact opens, if at the contrary the view would
lead to a value below the threshold value set (eg. due to a cancellation with ESC key), the Led goes on
and the contact closes. If you reset an input signal with a peak below the tare value, display remains 000000,
so are no longer displayed negatives values. If during the operation should be less the Power Supply, the
instrument at restore displays the value currently present at the input. Please note that the analog output is
closely linked to the indication (and thus at the peak) and not the value actually present in input onto the 9-pin
connector. Until remains active the function of peak remains also turned on the F Led for indication that is a
FUNCTION, so not a measured quantity but a generic numeric value.

5.4.13 CAL-C
MANUAL TARE VALUE
The MANUAL TARE VALUE parameter is only visualization and is designed to verify the indication of Tara
entered by pressing the TARA key (down arrow) for three seconds or by FUN-4. If it is not set any manual
tare, the instrument visualize 0 (zero). The indication varies depending on the setting of the decimal point. This
indication remains until you press ESC key, so remains also turned on the F Led for indication that is a
FUNCTION, so not a measured quantity but a generic numeric value.

5.4.14 CAL-F
LINEARIZATION POINTS
You can insert 4 LINEARIZATION POINTS within the calibration curve of the instrument, if the input signal
does not correspond to the value given by the system to be evaluated. If the first value is set to 0 keeps the
original curve. By entering this parameter is turned on the threshold of maximum . If a linearization is
already existent, it will visualized in the menu READ. Linearization is obtained by changing the points of the
curve calculated between tare and full scale. You must charge physically, a sample quantity and correct the
display by entering the correct value by selecting one of the coefficients of linearization:
The only constraint imposed by the instrument is that the sequence of values must be uniform:
The value for LIN1 must be between that of Tare and to LIN2
The value for LIN2 must be between that of LIN1 and that of LIN3
The value for LIN3 must be between that of LIN2 and that of LIN4
The value for LIN4 must be between that of LIN3 and the one used for Full Scale.
Remain unchanged values tare and full scale. If a coefficient of linearization is set to 0 is disabled and can not
add more values later. To perform a proper linearization is necessary to know the points of the curve to
change and possibly the analog input to which they are associated.

PROCEDURES TO PERFORMING THE INSTRUMENT CALIBRATION
Should be perform the calibration sequence after 15-20 minutes that the instrument is turned on, so as
to enable electronic components to reach thermal equilibrium.

GAIN
Permit to calibrate the instrument with a sample quantity. To have a good accuracy of the calibration is
recommended to use a sample quantity equivalent to the next full scale set. Calibrations performed with
samples of less than 50% of full scale produce a degradation of accuracy. At the start-up that function should
be performed only after using the TARE function. In a second step can be performed individually to perform
subsequent adjustments of the indication, if they should be required (change of inclination of the straight line
calibration).

Proceed as follows:
- access the eCAL-5 function and press (Enter).
- appears 000000.
- put the sample quantity on the system to be evaluated.
- press (Enter), it moves the selection on the display to the right, to select the digit to modify and with the
(up arrow) and (arrow down) keys set the correct value and press (Enter) till the end of the digits, press
(Enter) again to confirm the value setted. The ESC key moves the selection on the digit to the left, if it arrived
at the digit units, subsequent press ESC exits from the setup without saving the data.
- If there are not errors, it comes back to eCAL-0, now you should go to eCAL-6 function to terminate the
eCalibration, otherwise refer to MESSAGES and repeat the procedure.

TARE
Ensure that the system to be evaluated is empty and in the instrument were set Full Scale and decimal point
parameters.

Proceed as follows:
- access the eCAL-6 function and press (Enter).
- appears the eZERO message, press (Enter) key to confirm the empty condition or of 0 (zero) on the
measure scale.

Calibration 37

- access the CAL-6 function and press (Enter).
- appears 000000.
- put the sample quantity on the system to be evaluated, near to F.S.
- press (Enter), it moves the selection on the display to the right, to select the digit to modify and with the
(up arrow) and (arrow down) keys set the correct value and press (Enter) till the end of the digits, press
(Enter) again to confirm the value setted. The ESC key moves the selection on the digit to the left. If it arrives
at the digit units, next press the ESC key exits from the setup without saving the data.
- If there are not errors, the instrument will go into display indicating the sample value, otherwise refer to
MESSAGES and repeat the procedure.

At calibration occurred is possible to stabilize the indication by acting on the FILTER function.
Note: In the condition in which you want to tweak the tare for the presence, for example, of residues of
material fixed in the system to evaluate, you can rerun the function of TARE mind that this merely refers to the
entire range of calibration function of the new value (the straight line calibration slide up or down without
changing slope).
Where changes are made to the system which cause significant changes on the input signal (eg, replacement
of the load cells) is necessary to rerun the entire calibration sequence (TARE + GAIN).

7.1 Thresholds
SETUP AND OPERATION OF THE THRESHOLDS

7.2 Stable weight

This instrument is not considered capable of providing a reliable reading if it can not turn on the LED of
STABLE WEIGHT, so it can not use any of the following functions:
Manual tare
Memorization in Alibi Memory
Semi-Automatic Zero-Setting
Zero-tracking
Suppression of negative

In this regard, the FILTER has been modified and this parameter is fixed at 1 division:
a) with time of 1 second to FIL-1, 2,3
b) with 2 seconds to FIL-4, 5,6
c) with time of 4 seconds to FIL-7
d) with time of 8 seconds to FIL-8.
While presenting the same delays as before, providing continuous readings allows the LEDs go out when the
weight stable weight (filtered) changes without having to wait for the time average filter.
If you can not get the weight stable during the reading of the quantity to be stored in ALIBI MEMORY
intervenes automatically the raising of FILTER to store the data valid, at the end of that this value back to the
previous setting.

positioned in the vicinity of power cables, can be entered in the sensitive cables of the instrument such as
serial cable and load cells cable, some ferrites.

"REPOR.TECH.PERS."
For requesting these components contact the service SUPPORT.
Take a cable at a time and make it run around the ferrite once or twice depending on the possibilities of the
case. It is recommended where possible to make it run around twice. Reconnect the connectors: 8-pin orange
(where is the serial) and 9-pin female (where is the load cell), and last the VDE for the power supply.

The picture shows an example of the result of the intervention.

56 ED640 Instrument

15 Counter Function
To use the COUNTER to follow the steps below.

TECHNICAL DATA

This mode of operation involves the use of:

Two opto-coupled digital inputs in screw terminal. Operating voltage 24VDC.

MAXIMUM PULSE COUNTING: 80 AT SECOND
Two relay contact outputs max 230Vac, with single common.
Analog output 0-10 VDC (2-10 VDC optional) or 0-20 mA (4-20 mA optional).
The serial connection.
The Ethernet connection.

CONNECTIONS

To use the analog output connect the following pins on the connector 9pin:

PIN 4 EXC-; Analog output negative signal.

PIN 6 AOUT; Analog output positive signal.

If you do not want to use the analog output shall be used the SERIAL or ETHERNET link.

To use the COUNTER connect the following screw terminals:

SCREW TERMINAL 6 gnd; common ground signal for opto-coupled inputs.

SCREW TERMINAL 7 Encoder; for 24VDC input signal pulses.
SCREW TERMINAL 8 Start; to reset the counter by the 24VDC external signal.

The minimum and maximum thresholds are also used.

PARAMETERS

To use the COUNTER function correctly set the Operating Modes.

- FUN-E TYPE OF INSTRUMENT INPUT PAS = E IN IN = F

The F value refers to counter input when the digital inputs are enabled.

The value resulting on the anolog output depends from the OUT parameter and on the procedure in Annex A.
Remains proportional to the value set in Full Scale. Example: if set in 100.0Kg F.S. with analogue output 0-
10V, each pulse corresponds to 0.1 kg and output, then 1mV.

To reset the counter you can also use FUN-2.

Note: When programmed correctly, the instrument you should write down the parameters for easy recovery of
the same. A table in Annex B to report the parameters.

OPERATION

The start of counting has to the arrival of pulses up to the quantity to dose or until it reaches the full scale set.
The view in the display follows as described in the Display visualizations. The analog output is proportional
to the full scale and not to the quantity to dose. To reset the counter you can use the external contact or FUN-2
. Pressing the (up arrow) and (down arrow) keys and (enter) you enter the FUN-0 menu, with the (up
arrow) key seek FUN-2 and press (enter). When you reset the counter, the display and analog output will
return to zero.
