Our school organized a street play on june 26 in observance of the International Day Against
Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of
drug abuse and promote a drug-free society. The students of Class 12 participated
enthusiastically, delivering a powerful performance that highlighted the physical, emotional,
and social consequences of drug addiction.

The play held at the school premises. The play attracted a large audience, including parents,

Guwahati: March 20, 2022: Plastic bags are a major cause of environment pollution. It is a
product made up of such substance which is non- biodegradable and a threat to the planet.
Although state govt has imposed a ban on the usage of plastic bags but people had no
effect. Shopkeepers alleged that customers refuse to purchase items if plastic bags are not
provided to them. But people don’t care how plastic is slowly consuming our planet. It has
become a threat to the life of animals living on earth as well as in water. Chemicals released
by waste plastic bags enter the soil and make it infertile. Plastic bags are having a negative
impact on human health and also leads to the drainage problem.

Besides all of these people keep using bags due to their convenience. But now everyone
has to completely stop using the plastic bag to save our environment and earth.
3. Your school has recently organized a function to felicitate Lovlina Borgohain, the Olympic
bronze medalist. Prepare a report on that event in 100-125 words to be published in your

Popular Academy had the honor of felicitating Lovlina Borgohain, the Olympic bronze
medalist on 12th October in a grand event held at the school auditorium. The program
commenced at 9.00 am with a traditional welcome, followed by a cultural presentation
showcasing Assam's rich heritage. Lovlina Borgohain was welcomed by the Principal and
faculty, who presented her with a traditional Assamese 'gamosa' and a memento.

After felicitation, many programmes were performed. Then the school had arranged lunch for
everyone at dining hall.

Atlast, a session of discussion went on where students interacted with Lovlina Borgohain
and asked about her experiences, training, food habits, dedication and role model.

During her speech, Lovlina inspired students by sharing her journey, emphasising the
importance of hard work and perseverance. She encouraged the students to pursue their
dreams with dedication. The event ended with a vote of thanks, leaving the students
motivated and proud to have met such an inspiring figure.

Last week local college students started a campaign on 'Say No to Plastic'. The main
objective of the campaign was to make people aware about the bad effect of polythene bags
on the environment, humans and animals.

The campaign was led by the Principal of the college. Apart from this, there were many such
teachers who came to give tremendous support to the program. The campaign carried out
several activities starting with the principal's speech. He apprised the students about the
harmful effects of using polythene. The principal, along with other teachers, loved to suggest
alternatives to plastic.

Then he swore an oath to the people that he would not use poly bags.
The students took out a rally in the city carrying placards with various slogans. They were
enthusiastic and it seemed to be a very successful campaign.

The students and the teachers of Popular Academy organised a Swacha Bharat Abhiyan/
Cleanliness Week and drove around the school campus. The programme started on 13th
February at 9 am,and ended on 15th February 2017 at 4 pm. More than two hundred
students and sixteen teachers had participated the Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan/ Cleanliness
Week. All the students and teachers took brooms in hands and cleaned the whole school
campus. There were several dustbins installed in different places and collected the garbage
there. Some programs and competitions like 'best cleaner', beautiful natural picture's art
competitions, best natural quotes competition', etc. were performed or participated by the
students. All the students and teachers were praised by the local people and guardians for
their valuable programmes, works and ideals.

The programmes were so attractive and the teachers gave more similar drive promised in
future time. All other visitors were also encouraged to do like this work.

Guwahati, 12 Feb 2016: Now a day traffic is increasing in this big city. For this reason, many
road accidents take place in day to day life. Today, another horrible road accident took place
in Zoo Road between a school bus and a passenger bus at about 2.30 pm.

According to the eyewitnesses, The school bus was returning from the school and at that
time an over speeding passengers' bus crossed in front of the school bus. The bus driver
tried to take a sharp turn to save the accident/struck, but unfortunately collided with a traffic
point. Many passengers of the bus were injured in the heavy jolting and a school-going boy
died instantly. The injurious passengers were brought to G.M.C.H. by 108 Service
immediately and the School boy was forwarded for post-mortem. Both drivers were arrested
by the police. The police are inquiring and investigating for more informations. Now, a
sorrowful moment is affecting this place.

Guwahati, 16 Feb, 2017: A terrible train accident took place this evening at 6.30 pm at
Guwahati Train Station.
A speeding train Guwahati Express rear ended another local train. A devastating fire broke
out instantly for the coalition of the two trains. A large number of people gathered
immediately and tried to put out the fire. A reporter called the fire brigade, the Police as well
as 108 Medical services. Five fre brigades started their works and within a few minutes, the
fire had been under controlled. But, 135 people were injured and 20 people were died
instantly. Injurious passengers were brought to G.M.C.H. by 108 Service and private cars at
once. A sorrowful moment flourished at that moment and now police are inquiring about the
accident.

live/stay. Many people have taken shelter on the railway lines. Many houses/huts have been
washed away and a widespread caused by the flood in the whole area. The army has been
pressed to service the suffering people and various relief camps have been opened in some
schools and places. There has been a scarcity of drinking water. The District Administrator is
making out all efforts to lessen the suffering of the flood affected people. The Assam & India
government made relief to each flood affected person.

commitment to a greener future. Finally, the programme was ended with the national anthem
'Jana Gana Mana’.
