1. You are an eye witness to a road accident in which a school going boy was killed and many passengers
were injured. As a press reporter of “The Assam Tribune” write a report about the accident in 100-125

Mangaldai, 25th Aug, 2024: A road mishap took place yesterday at about 9.00 a.m. where a school
going boy was killed. The accident took place at Menapara, a place hardly two kilometers away from
Mangaldai on its eastward. The tragic death of the child shrouded the region with sorrows.

According to an eye-witness, the accident took place when a passenger bus was coming in high
speed from Tezpur and faced with a goat that was crossing the road. The driver was confused and to save
the goat he braked the bus severely. But it swerved the motion and ran over of a school going boy. The boy
named Arun Datta was killed on the spot. The bus lost control and hit a road site tree. It fell into a road site
pond and overturned. However there was little water in the pond. Many passengers were injured when
some of them were severely in critical condition. People of the locality rushed to the spot and assisted in
rescue operation. The police as well as ambulance was called. There was a big hue and cry on the spot.
However, the situation was brought under control in no time.

Arrangements were made to send the injured passengers to Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Around 13
passengers were badly injured. They were sent to Guwahati Medical College & Hospital. There was a big
traffic jam that parlayed the normal life. It took 3-4 hours to bring the situation to normal. The local MLA
also arrived on the spot in time and expressed deep sympathy for the incident. He met the parents of the
deceased child and announced Rs. 5 lakhs as compensation from the MLA fund.

Guwahati, 23rd Aug, 2024: A major train accident took place near Rangia Railway Station at about
5:30 a.m. yesterday. Around 25 people were died on the spot injuring many others. According to an eye-
witness, the accident occurred when the Delhi bound Assam Kranti Express rammed into the stationary
Dibru Maghad Mail. Assam Kranti Express collided head on with the Dibru Magadh Mail coming from Patna
to Dibrugarh. Altogether 25 people including none women and five children were died in the accident
when two hundred and fifty other passengers were injured. The surrounding people rushed to the spot

hearing the big crashing sound. Local administration and railway officials also arrived in no time. The
victims were rescued in co-operation with the local public. Around fifty passengers were seriously injured.
They were sent to the GMC Hospital. The rest of the injured were admitted into Rangia Civil Hospital. There
was a big gathering of people which caused a great problem in law and order situation. However, the
railway police took the situation under control sending people away from the spot. The numbers of
deceased people are released on electronic media. The railway officials are trying to connect the near
relatives of the deceased till the news updated.

The railway minister landed on the spot by helicopter. He took up the stock of the situation and
expressed deep concern for the incident. He expressed his sympathy for the deceased family and
announced Rs. 2 lakhs as compensation for each dead and Rs. 25,000 for each injured. The minister also
assured that immediate steps would be taken too overt such accidents in future.
