Company code represents individual company, i.e. one company code for
one company.
For example if there is a scenario where a business or company have
multiple businesses or companies in different sectors, every company is
liable to maintain a separate account and all the accounts are maintained
in company code level.
It is an legal entity and statutory requirement is to maintain Balance Sheet
and Profit and Loss Statement are created and maintained at the Company
Code level.
Now lets continue with Plant
It is defined as storage place for goods and manufacturing’s. It acts both like
storage location and distribution channel. It can have many locations. A plant is
an operational facility within a company code. This creation of new plant for a
company code is taken care by MM team/consultant.
Plant in SAP is a physical location of company, where the finished goods are
stored for easy distributing the goods to the customers.
Depending upon the usage, you can define 3 types of plants:
Production Plant: Where the production facility available
Inventory Plant: Where the stock of materials are managed
Maintenance Plant: Where the maintenance of goods take place.

Next Storage location
The storage location is the place where the materials are stored or it is the
division of a plant into different areas so that the stock of materials can be kept
there. It allows the differentiation of materials like raw material, semi-finished
goods, and finished product within a plant.
For example, suppose we have a plant111 where we have created two storage
locations B30 and B40. Storage location B30 is used for the storage of raw
materials and storage location B40 is used for the storage of finished products.
7
ERP
It means within a plant111 different products or different materials are stored at
different storage locations.
A plant can have multiple storage locations depending on the type of the
product but at least one storage location is a must for a plant. The storage
location is the four-digit alphanumeric key.
This is handled by MM consultant/team along with Plant.
Even though the organizational structure have many departments and parts,
S&D doesn’t deal with all of it.
