WANDERING MONK

You were given onto the man-god Udarava as a child.

Life in seclusion gets dull. After you received your onyx beads, you declared your
intention to travel as an itinerant priest. Did Udarava himself not wander?
All devotees tracing Udarava’s steps eventually venture beneath the earth. Are you eager
to explore a new world? Or afraid?

With a shaved head, a body made cord-like by the road, a mind

made knife-like by its risks—you are hale.

You are a warrior. Very agile.

You practise equanimity. Quite perceptive.

You react to danger with perception and toughness.

You crammed scripture. You never forget words written or

spoken. You reflected on strength. Spend a day meditating
on your body: your skin hardens into armour.

What did your temple give you, as a parting gift?

A soft blanket. Big enough for two persons, always dry and warm. Sour Spring Hall is famed for its wines. You are skilled in
1 conversation arts.

An iron spear. Too heavy to be moved by those who don’t know its name. Cracked Earth Fort values warriors. You are
2 skilled in staff arts.

A mouse-sized brass spider. Animate, affectionate, and cowardly. Spider Mountain Temple trains craftspeople. You are
3 skilled in stonework.

A bonsai-ed tamarind. Always fruiting. Food cooked with its fruit never poison. Pregnant Hill Hall is full of orchards. You
4 are skilled in gardening.

An ox with wise eyes. Goring horns, utterly obedient, very ordinary. Deer Forest Palace hosts festivals every week. You are
5 skilled in dance arts.

A dagger with a glowing blade. With a prick, it will destroy any demon, then break. Broken Mask Tomb is haunted, You are
6 skilled in exorcism.

They gave you a good education. You are also skilled in calligraphy and theology. You have trappings
relevant to all your skills.
ASPECTS OF UDARAVA

You consider the life of your god, over and over, until truths are revealed. You begin understanding his:

1 Hot-flashing heart. You emit a light blinding as the sun. Lasts until you inflict bodily harm.

2 Cloud-cushioned tread. You walk on air; solid surfaces repel you. Lasts until you speak.

3 Fulsome submission. Hug a foe. Neither of you may hurt the other. Lasts until you let go.

4 Warm rivalry. Kiss an ally. Injuries they sustain instead happen to you. Ends if you sleep.

5 Dagger against evil. Challenge a foe by name. Your next strike against them severs a limb.

6 Hand cupping tears. Weep to fill a bowl. A creature who drinks this is cured of all disease.

After using an aspect of Udarava, divinity drains from you; you may not use it again. Spend a day meditating on your
god to regain use of all known aspects.

Every odd level, more is revealed. Roll to understand another aspect.

Repeat rolls represent deeper knowledge. If you roll an aspect you already understand, you have one extra use of it,
per meditation session.

SONGS OF UDARAVA

You were taught the songs of your priesthood by rote. When you learn the words, wisdom follows—so your teachers told you.

At second level, you realise the mystic meaning of the:

1 Ogre’s Argument. A whistled tune. All who hear it must move towards you, long as it lasts.

2 Deer’s Lullaby. Hum, low. All who hear you struggle to stay awake. Ends when you stop.

3 Dog’s Lament. A long howl. All who hear it in full now see their latest friend as an enemy.

4 Serpent’s Laugh. Clap out a mocking quatrain. When you finish, all who heard you fall over.

5 Boulder’s Sermon. A chant in monotone. All who hear it hear nothing else, long as it lasts.

6 Coucal’s Lesson. Hoot and yell. Gravity reverses for all who hear you. Ends when you stop.

After using a song, its qualities fade; you may not use it again. Spend a day meditating on your priesthood to regain
use of all known songs.

Every even level, you discover more. Roll to uncover meaning in another song.

Repeat rolls represent deeper knowledge. If you roll a song you already understand, you have one extra use of it, per
meditation session.
