The Indian Ocean is one of the world’s great oceans, but it is smaller than the Atlantic Ocean and
the Pacific Ocean. Africa is to the west of the Indian Ocean, Australia is to the east, Asia is to the
north, and the Southern Ocean is to the south. On average, the Indian Ocean is about 4,000 meters
(about 13,000 feet) deep. That means that it is deeper than the Atlantic Ocean, but it is not as deep
