GROUP 2 – PREJUDICE

        Prejudice is a preconceived negative attitude from a combination of feelings, beliefs, and
behavior toward a group and its individual members. And we the presenter number 2 prepared a
skit not only to discuss the certain topic which is prejudice, but to also show through the skit on
how we, as individuals can act when we witness someone experiencing prejudice in any form.
Prejudice comes in many forms such as the following:
Scene 1: In the form of Obesity
N – For the first scenario, EUGE experienced prejudice in their household because of her physical
appearance.
ASH- Mga anak kain na, bilisan nyo anong oras na oh
JHI- Bilisan nyo para maihatid ko pa kayo at may pupuntahan pa ako
DIM- Hoy ate bakit ang dami naman nyang kinuha mo? gutom na gutom
EUG- Pake mo ba
ASH- Oh EUG dahan dahan naman sa pagkain ang taba mo na anak oh tignan mo yang kapatid
mo maganda ang katawan at healthy
EUG- Ano bayan kapag si (DIM) kahit anong kain wala kayong sinasabi pero kapag ako, kaunting
kain lang may masasabi kaagad kayo
DIM- Tignan mo naman kasi yang katawan mo kompara saakin ate, mukha ka ng aparador
EUG- Wow eh mas marami ngang kinain si (DIM) kahapon sa handaan halos luklukin niya na lahat
wala kayong sinabi pero kapag ako ganyan kayo
JHI- Oh tama na yan malalate na kayo sa klase niyo oh, tiyaka anak okay lang naman kumain ng
kumain pero mag exercise ka rin ha? Baka wala ng mag kagusto sayo nyan.
Scene 2: Prejudice in the form of Sexual Orientation
N - In this scenario, REE in his way to school helped JOM who is experiencing a prejudice in the
form of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
EUG - Omg, look at that mga sis, HAHAHAHA tombits
CHE- Naku ka ate ko may pechay ka tapos ganyan buhok mo? anong balak mo sa buhay?
DIM - gusto mo maging lalaki? asa ka naman
EUG - anong trip mo bat ginanyan mo buhok mo? naboboring kana ba sa buhay?
CHE - pwede rin pero teh dimo bagay
JOM - ay ganun ba? (anxious)
DIM - HAHAHA cool kana niyan tomboy?
EUG - Oo nga, nakakainis tingnan
CHE- nakakahiya
REE- Uy, anong ginagawa niyo?
CHE - Sinasabi lang namin sa kanya na bagay niya yung buhok niya pero halatang tomboy na siya
 REE - Talaga ba? Making fun of someone for how they look? O kung ano sila? Sobrang baba niyo
naman.
EUG - KJ namn joke lang eh
REE – Jokes are meant to be funny bullying na yan at alam niyo yan, nasaan ang respeto?
EUG - Nandun nag kakape! apaka KJ makaalis na nga
REE- Ayos ka lang? Hindi mo kailangang makinig sa kanila, there’s nothing wrong with being
yourself, talikuran ka man ng lahat tandaan mong meron at meron paring tatalikod sayo este
tatanggap sayo.
 MC – Oum, I know. Salamat
Scene 3: Prejudice in the form of Religion
N - In this scenario ASH and JHI helps their classmate CHE, a muslim who is experiencing a
prejudice because of her religion. (parang kakapasok lang sa classroom nila MC1 nad MC2 dto)
JOE- Ok class, bago tayo tumuloy sa ating leksyon tanggalin na lahat ang mga sombrero, hoodie, o
kahit anong suot niyo sa ulo. Nakakaabala ito at bawal sa school policy.
CHE - Sir, hindi ko pwedeng tanggalin ang hijab ko dahil bahagi ito ng aking pananampalataya.
JOE - Naiintindihan ko, pero rules are rules at nasa klase ko kayo, kaya kailangan sumunod ang
lahat sa pare-parehong patakaran.
CHE -Pero sir, ang hijab ko ay hindi lang basta accessory o kung ano pa, bahagi ito ng aking
pananampalataya at hindi pa ako kailanman pinilit na tanggalin ito.
JOE - Naiintindihan ko, pero nakakadistract ito at baka hindi komportable ang ibang estudyante.
Kailangan pantay-pantay ang trato ko sa lahat, kung hindi mo masusunod ang patakaran,
kailangan kitang ipadala sa guidance.
CHE - Hindi pa ako nagkaroon ng problema noon, bakit ngayon bigla na lang naging isyu ang
hijab ko?
JOE - Tama na, kung papayagan kitang labagin ang patakaran, iisipin ng iba na pwede din silang
lumabag. Alisin mo o pumunta ka sa guidance?
JHI - Hindi patas no, wala naman siyang ginawang masama. (WHISPER)
ASH – Uh sir, I think mali po yang ginagawa nyo because everyone has the right to express their
beliefs, at yung hijab nya is part of her identity and dapat po nating igalang yon.
JOE- I appreciate your concern, but I have to maintain order in the classroom.
ASH –Sir maybe there’s a way to allow her to keep her hijab while still respecting classroom
rules.
JOE- I see your points, let me think about it ok (CHE) can you explain to me why your hijab is
important to you?
CHE- Of course sir, my hijab is a symbol of my faith and identity and it represents my commitment
to my beliefs.
JOE –Thank you for explaining, how about we have a discussion with the administration about this
so that we can find a way to respect your belief?
CHE- Sure sir, thank you JHI and ASH for standing up for me!
Scene 4: Prejudice in the form of Age
N - In this scenario there are 4 characters applied for a job and luckily, 3 of them were accepted
immediately because they were seen as qualified due to their young age, however the three of
them noticed that the last applicant is an old man who also applied for the job, was not accepted
because of his age. In this scenario, you will witness a prejudice in the form of age.
ASH- Congratulations, for the three of You, you three can start working next week, excited na
kaming makatrabaho kayo.
JOE- Salamat! Hindi ko kayo bibiguin.
DIM- Salamat po talagang pag- iigihan ko
EUG- Thank you po, I will surely do my best!
ASH- Ah, Mr. (JHI), I’m really sorry but we don’t have any vacant position at the moment.
JHI – Ay ganon ba ma’am (sad face)
DIM- Ma'am, napansin ko that Mr. had more experience and showed a lot of passion for this job,
bakit hindi natin siya ikinonsidera? Maaari siyang maging malaking tulong sa team.
ASH- Tingnan mo naman siya, matanda na baka sakitin at mahina na, and do you honestly think
that he can keep up with the pace of this job?
JOE- Hindi patas yan, ma’am, nanghuhusga ka base lang sa edad niya. Baka mas magaling pa siya
kaysa sa karamihan na mas bata gaya namin, dapat mo siyang bigyan ng patas na pagkakataon.
EUG- At tyaka ma’am base sa resume nya talagang mas qualified sya dahil talagang matagal at
experienced na sya sa trabahong ito.
ASH- Ah well you’re right, I shouldn’t have made that assumption. (Hinabol) Mr. JHI, let’s
reconsider your application. Paano kung bigyan ka namin ng trial period? Kapag napatunayan mo
ang iyong kakayahan, gagawin naming permanente.
JHI- Sure ma’am I will surely do my best!
Scene 5; Prejudice in the form of immigrant status
DIM "naku teh may exchange student daw galing china"
EUGE "seryoso ka? "
DIM"oo nga, plastic lang ako pero hindi ako sinungaling"
EUG "ay hala siya, siya na ata yan oh"
JOE "okay class meet your new classmate"
REE "hi I am " "
JOE "so why are you here in philippines? Hindi ba mas maganda ga schools sa China?
 REE "I did not choose ph to be here, my parents did"
DIM "so you were going to live here? permanently?"
REE "yes? That’s what they said to me"
JOE "okay you may take your seat, and class iwan ko muna kayo saglit, please behave hindi na
kayo Elementary at jhs"
ASH "hala may intsik, baka spy yan HAHAHA"
EUG "ka oa mo teh, intsik lang eh spy na agad"
ASH "naku bhe malay mo nandito lang yan pero sa farm pala siya nakatira tas may helicopter pa"
EUG "tumigil tigil ka nga"
ASH "he's probably just another one of those illegal immigrants trying to take our jobs and our
schools. Don't be so naive teh"
DIM "alam mo ikaw dada ka ng dada eh naririnig ka niya"
ASH "so? eh nag sasabi lang ako ng re-yal"
EUG "hoy ate kong pinag pala sa sama ng loob huwag ka ngang ganyan, you're being really mean.
It's not okay to say things like that. he's just trying to get an education, just like us, napaka
negative mo"
Scene 6: Prejudice in the form of Race
DIM "alam mo " " nakaka pag taka lang talaga kung bakit ka nagustuhan ni Jeninna, like what the
h lang talaga talaga teh"
JHI "wait what do you mean?"
ASH "jusko teh don't tell me na dimo gets yung sinasabi niya"
JHI "mag tatanong paba ako kung gets ko? abnormal lang?
DIM"tignan mo to sinagot lang ni Jeninna yumabang na"
JHI "pero seryoso anong ibig sabihin mo kanina?anong nakapagtataka?
DIM "obvious naman kasi na kaya ka niya sinagot kasi naawa siya sayo, tyaka ang dami niya
kayang manliligaw na mga mapupiti at gwapo, don't get me wrong ha"
JHI "ahh okay"
ASH"oo nga no? bakit ka kaya niya sinagot? HAHHAA sayang yung ganda ni Jeninna bro, nainlab
sa nigga na tulad mo HAHAHHA"
DIM "oh huwag mong seryosohin nag kakatuwaan lang tayo ah"
JHI: smile
ASH "nga pala exam na pala natin bukas no? nag review na kayo?
DIM" oo naman ako pa eh ang taas ng expection ni ma'am na mapeperfect ko yung exam"
ASH "ikaw bro?"
 JHI "ah oo, nakapag review narin ako"
DIM "ay nag rereview ka rin pala? kala ko sasayaw ka nalang ng TAYAW, diba cultural dance niyo
yun? HAHA"
JHI "grabe kana teh alam mo ba yun? uwi nalang tayo baka magripuhan pa kita ng wala sa oras"
FASTFORWARD: Next Day NAG-EXAM
 EUG "please announce the scores miss * "
CHE * "(DIM) 38/40, (ASH) 37/40, (JHI) 40/40, (REE) 34/-
EUG "wait did you just say JHI got a perfect score?"
CHE * "yes po ma'am"
EUG "impossible! somethings smell fishy"
JHI "po?"
EUG "you've cheated! I can't believe na magagawa mo yun"
JHI "ano pong ibig niyong sabihin? eh hindi naman po ako nag cheat"
EUG "no, you've cheated, ganyan na nga kulay mo cheater kapa, naku kang bata ka mahiya ka
naman kahit konti, sa subject kopa talaga ikaw nag cheat? dimo ako maloloko"
JHI "ma'am hindi po talaga ako nangopya"
EUG "no! hindi mo ako maloloko tawagin mo ang mga magulang mong mga maiitim at mag uusap
usap kami dahil ang anak nilang maitim nangongopya"
REE "ma'am hindi naman po talaga nangopya si JHI eh, siya po talaga pinakamatalino sa klase"
EUG "hindi ko alam kung anong ibinigay netong JHI sa inyo eh, masyado kayong naniniwala sa
kanya eh kakaiba siya sa inyo, hindi ka panipaniwala ang mga katulad niya.
REE: “ Maam kayo po ata ang may mali dito, inaakusahan niyo po siya ng walang pruweba.”
JOE: “ Oo nga maam di naman po ata yun tama, higit po sa lahat bakit kailangan niyo pong iba
siya sa amin at imention pa ang kanyang kulay?”
EUG: “ bakit ba kayo sumasabat kinakausap ko ba kayo?”
JHI: “ Tama na po, maam ang alam ko po ang motto ng paaralang heto ay maghatid ng
magandang edukasyon hindi po diskriminasyon.”
 Another Day (HINDI NA PUMASOK SI JHI)
Ree: Maam nais ko pong ipaalam na ayaw na pong pumasok ni JHI dahil sa stress at
diskriminasyong natatanggap niya sa paaralan.
Narrator: (pinuntahan si JHI at nag sorry) Pinuntahan naman ng guro ang studyante pero dahil sa
mga karanasan mas pinili na lamang nitong tumigil sa pag aaral.
  GANTO KAPOWERFUL ANG EFFECT NG PREJUDICE SA ATING KAPWA. KAYA NAMAN BAKA
HETO NA ANG PANAHON PARA PAG ISIPAN NATIN ANG BAWAT SALITA AT AKSYON NA ATING
                                          SINASAGAWA.
