REPORT
Last week, facilitated by the Faculty of International Studies and The
Green One UN House, I was able to visit the UN headquarters in Vietnam and
experience the real world. It can be affirmed that the field trip is a very
meaningful activity that helps me improve my knowledge and skills and be
more motivated for upcoming decisions.
When I first set foot in the UN in Vietnam, I was really excited and
nervous. Because there are people who always work with the goal of wanting
all Vietnamese citizens to have access to essential social services of high
quality and receive social protection: this goes from gender issues (no
violence or discrimination against women and girls) to early childhood
education, from sexual and reproductive health services to water supply.
Besides, the actual trip also gives me a very comfortable feeling.
Because at the UN there are many trees and the atmosphere is really pleasant.
I myself quite like the color green, because every time I look at it, I feel very
relaxed, it seems that it is the motivation to motivate me to get rid of the
laziness of the exercise and continue to complete the task well. I think that if
one day I have the opportunity to work here, I myself will feel excited every
day when I go to work. But why is there the word Green in the name of the
headquarters? I wonder? Then, I was explained that, "green" here is about
benefits: financial, non-financial, sustainable development; “green” is the
efficient use of energy sources; “green” is human health: air quality, natural
light, visual comfort; and "green" is also environmentally friendly. In
addition, I am very impressed with the green transition measures and must
mention the efficiency of water use. The building will reuse water from the
wastewater treatment system for irrigation; The campus is also built in the
model of a terraced garden and uses water-absorbing bricks and water-saving
sanitary equipment. Not only me, surely many people are also interested in the
problem of waste treatment. At TG1UNH, organic waste is captured to
convert into compost, and all types of waste are classified and managed
according to ISO14001 standards.
During that tour, there were many items that interested me. Especially
the UNDP. It is a program of work to support policy development, strengthen
institutional capacity, ensure people-centered mechanisms and processes, and
build resilience to achieve the SDGs and Vietnam's development priorities.
According to her research, UNDP has helped Vietnam build strong
commitment and outstanding leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS as well
as helping organizations at the central, local and national levels. civil society
in raising awareness, understanding and building tools to effectively contain
this epidemic. Besides, I pay a lot of attention to SDG - 17 sustainable
development goals. The Sustainable Development Goals are global call-to-
action goals aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the earth's environment
and climate, and ensuring that people everywhere can enjoy peace and
prosperity . And in that, Vietnamese young people are the change-makers,
have creative contributions, are able to cope and have left no one behind.
Young people's participation in many different aspects such as gender,
disability, economic and social status, location, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
More and more young volunteers and activists contribute their voices, actions
and initiatives. Besides social issues, I see that young Vietnamese people are
also active in climate issues. They realize that the negative is happening, the
climate is changing more and more for the worse. Therefore, they used their
words and actions to urge everyone to sign the Vietnam Youth Joint
Declaration on Climate 2022. In the report, they mentioned outstanding
projects of union members. , youth on mitigation of greenhouse gas
emissions, adaptation to climate change, promotion of circular economy
development. Young people are the future pillar of the country, it is always
worth learning and developing themselves in many fields. And the
development of youth is also reflected in many National competition anh
incubation programme for youth – led startup. There are many competitions,
large-scale and professional training programs with the participation of many
young people. In addition, there are many contests where young people can
use their voices such as human rights debate contests, or register to become
program coordinators.
It can be seen that young people play a very important role. In SDG,
youth use their voices to inspire confidence and leadership. Or they emerge as
co-creators of knowledge and meaningful engagement. They innovate and
thinking creatively is key.
In addition, we were also introduced by Ms. Ngoc about projects and
programs for Vietnamese youth. Youth Co: lab and EPPIC are projects about
youth start-ups. and if you are interested in climate issues: Youth4climate and
Circular Economy Hub Danang & CE Training (AccLab-CC E). You can
apply as a volunteer, as an intern or as a member of the project. However,
there are some positions that require a high level of expertise and skills, so
you need to accumulate a lot of experience to be able to achieve that position.

achieved if we empower these young people as leaders.” – António Gutteres
