Second Age
1744 - Komul, son of Mul Tanul high lord of the Womaw and the lady Klea-shay, is born at Laeg Goak in
easternmost Endor.
1751 - Clea-shay dies when Komul is only seven years old. Tanul’s Avari elven consort, Dardarian, raises
Komul and serves as his principal advisor.
1800 - From about this time onward, the Numenoreans begin to establish domains on the coasts.
1820 - Er-Mûrazôr is born during a solar eclipse at the port city of Andunië in the province of Andustar
on the island of Númenor, the second son of king Tar-Ciryatan and younger brother of Atanamir the
Great.
1823 - Adûnaphel is born at Bar Forowing on Númenor's North Cape in Forostar.
Some unknown time afterwards in her youth, Adûnaphel’s father, Adûnahil, dies and she spends many
years mourning him.
1844 - Komul assumes the throne of Womawas Drus.
1880 - Jealous of his brother’s throne, Er-Mûrazôr the Black Prince sails to Middle Earth to establish his
own kingdom. He lands in Vinyalondë in Eriador, at the mouth of the Gwathlo in Enedhwaith. The Black
Prince attempted to take the port by force as part of his new kingdom but was defeated in battle, forcing
them to sail southeard.
Sometime prior to 1882, Adûnaphel’s uncle, Adûnazil, led an Adûnaic faction that allied with
Er-Mûrazôr.
1882 - Er-Mûrazôr and his followers land in Umbar, where the Prince overtook the local colonists and
declared himself King. This was soon thwarted by Tar-Ciryatan, who ordered the young Prince to return
home. Although he refused, Er-Mûrazôr withdrew from Umbar to avoid his father’s wrath.
1883 - Perceiving Mûrazôr’s desire for power, Sauron brings him to Barad-dûr where he trained under the
dark lord for the next 115 years, becoming a powerful sorcerer.
1888 - Akhôrahil son of Ciryamir is born in Nísinen on the island of Númenor.
1903 - Ciryamir is given license to create and govern a Numenorean kingdom in Middle Earth.
1904 - Ciryamir and his family sail to the haven of Hyarn in the southwestern part of Endor. They landed
at Midyears and journeyed up the river Aronduin to the newly built citadel of Marath Carnadúnê.
Ciryamir founded the kingdom of Ciryatandor along the Northern flank of the Ered Laranor.
1914 - Adûnaphel believes that Numenoreans should have dominion over all men and leaves Numenor to
seek a kingdom of her own. She arrives first in Umbar before settling at Vamag on the Northwestern tip of
the great peninsula. There she erected a citadel.
1918 - Akhorahil trades his eyes for the Eyes of the Well. He invades his father Ciryamir’s mind and
drives him to suicide.
1919 - Akhorahil is crowned king of Ciryatandor and marries his sister Akhoraphil. Akhorahil levies a tax
to placate the Numenorean courts and begins building his young army with plans to conquer the lands on
the southern edge of Far Harad.
1929 - Ciryatandor conquers Chennacatt.
1933 - Ciryatandor conquers Isra.
1939 - By this time Adûnaphel controlled most coastal lands between Umbar and the river Harnan, as
well as much of Western Near Harad.
1949 - Dendra Dwar is born in Horm on Waw, the Isle of Dogs. His mother dies in childbirth and his
father is a lowly fisherman. He works at the age of seven.
1954 - Hoarmurath of Dir is born in the forest of Dir in the land of Urd. He was born the son of Emurath
of Uab, the matriarch leader of Urdar.
1955 - Indur Dawndeath is born Ji Indur in the city of Korlan located in the Kiran republic of Koronade.
Sometime between 1962-1975 Hoarmurath’s mother Emurath died in the Umli wars and the title of
Matriarch was passed to Hoarmurath’s sister Amurath. Amurath permits Hoarmurath to become the
master of the household.
1965 - The K’prur of Hent land on Waw and burn Horm. Young Dwar, his brother Dwem, and his father
Dendra Wim escape, but Wim soon dies of an injury. Dwar swears revenge on the men who destroyed his
home.
Sometime afterward Dwar sails Northward to Wol, where he trained to become a warrior. He would serve
in the Wolim campaigns against the Brodan and Ts’dan peoples of the east.
1969 - Dwar studies the mystical arts under priest Embra Stil, becoming a mage. Ren the Unclean is born
at Ulk Jey Ama, the son of Sen Jey the illusion weaver.
Ren would grow up near Heb Aaraan, amidst enchanters who taught him their ways as an apprentice.
1970 - Ûvathar Achef, son of exiled Variag Prince Kîonid Achef, was born in the Caves of Ôlbamarl.
Sometime in the 1970’s Indur was elected governor, making him the youngest man ever elected as
governor in any of the six realms of Koronade. Sometime later he rises in the political ladder to become a
representative in Koronade’s 12-member assembly where he lobbied for a centralized government to
contest the might of Numenor. This was due to Numenor docking ships near the bay of Usakan which the
young representative saw as a threat to his homeland.
Uvathar Achef spent his early years living a harsh and nomadic life, hardened by the burden of his exiled
family name. Uvatha first rode a horse earlier than any Variag thought possible and killed a man before
even reaching the age of seven.
1977 - After gaining much support from merchants and the nearby Avar elves of Taurode who feared the
Numenoreans’ growing hatred of the Eldar, Ji Indur seized control of the assembly.
1978 - The assembly of Koronade is replaced by a council of oligarchs who elect Ji Indur to be King of
Korlan. With this Koronade becomes a kingdom to the dismay of the Kirani elves. Conflicts and
rebellions from free loving people of Koronade would persist for the next 23 years.
1979 - Ciryatandor conquers Kirmlesra.
1980 - Dwar emerges as the Lord of Dogs, wrestling the citadel of Alk Waw from the K’prur, establishing
a hold on the remote peninsula in southeastern Waw. Dwar keeps the K’prur at bay for over a year with
the help of his war dogs.
1982 - Dwar defeats the K’prur line and scatters their soldiers.
Sometime after, Dwar makes Wolim his territory and Waw becomes the land of the Dog King. In the
following years Dwar tightens his grip and makes the city of Horm a monumental port, all while declaring
himself heir to all surrounding islands and coastal realms such as Hent to the North. Dwar constructs a
fleet one year after doing so.
1985 - Dwar sends his fleet to pillage port towns and islands for hundreds of miles. This will continue for
13 years.
1987 - Tar-Ciryatan orders Adûnaphel to pay him homage and to remove her warriors from Umbar.
Adûnaphel is driven to rage and sends envoys to plead her case to the king, starting a political dispute that
lasts 14 years. The 18 year old Ren ends his apprenticeship and goes east to see his uncle Ul Fen Jey, a
lord who held sway over the Ahar of the Numahar River vales. There Ren meets Elyen at the Grass
Tombs.
1988 - Nearing the age of 18, Uvatha led the light cavalry wing of his father’s rebel army at the Battle of
Knife River. This battle would dethrone the Variag king and restore Uvatha’s family to the throne. His
father Kionid however, died in the battle. Uvatha’s uncle, Mionid, would instead be crowned king and
ordered Uvatha executed as was tradition. Uvatha escaped and fled west to Sturlurtsa Khand, the capital
of lower Khand. Uvatha would make a name for himself in the area, becoming a highly respected warrior.
In the years between taking over as master of the household and 1992, Hoarmurath became friends with
the Avar elves of the south and learned their ways. Hoarmurath began preaching war and argued with his
sister. Hoarmurath wanted to conquer the lands of the Myri and Angcla tribes. Amurath exiled
Hoarmurath but he refused to leave. This led to Hoarmurath’s retainers killing Amurath.
1992 - With the help of the Avar and the more warlike bands of Urdur, Hoarmurath declared himself the
first king of Urd and ordered the slaughter or banishment of Urd priestesses. For the next five years his
bands struck out into the surrounding lands. Ren marries Elyen.
1994 - Womawas Drus appears resigned to outside Dunedain forces, causing many of the Womaw Hiona
to renounce the High-Lord Komul. Komul meets Dardarian on the isle of Sunrises in his time of need,
there the Avari elf seduces her step son, creating an alliance between Womaw and Dardarian’s Avar
kingdom of Helkanen. Ren and Elyen return to Ulk Jey Ama to raise their children, Fen and Fyen. They
remained in the mountain for 4 years.
1995 - The pact between the Womaw and Helkanen leads to multiple Numenorean concessions,
preventing future conquest from the Dunedain.
1996 - Dardarian, secretly working for the Dark Lord Sauron, convinces Komul to accept a ring of power
to gain eternal life, making Komul the second of the Nazgul. Komul became isolated from his people and
his reign soon ended.
1997 - After seven months of isolation, and 3 dozen of the Hionvor’s trusted advisors purged, Komul goes
missing. Komul would join a popular Numenorean faction led by his cousin Aon. By this time
Hoarmurath ruled much of the great wooded territory between the Northern seas, but the land of the Avar
retained its independence, angering Hoarmurath who grew jealous of their immortality.
1998 - After training to become Sauron’s most trusted lieutenant, Mûrazôr was given a Ring of Power,
becoming the first of the Nazgûl, the Witch King. The Witch King would remain in Mordor for most of
the remainder of the Second Age. By this year all of the islands between Waw and the mainland, as well
as the Avar Elven isle of Cimoniemor to the south, are under the rule of Dendra Dwar. As Dwar planned
to take Hent, he was approached by Sauron and given a ring of power, making him the third to accept a
ring. Dwar disappeared and his nephew, Dendra Swip, became Dog Lord. Hent was overtaken. Dwar
would secretly remain in Alk Waw for 250 years, manipulating his heirs. This was also the year that the
great plague passed through Ulk Jey Ama, infecting and nearly killing Ren. Although Ren survived his
sickness, the months bedridden and on the brink of death took its toll on his mind. Ren developed a
superiority complex in his insanity and began to call himself the Fire King, son of the exalted volcano,
Ulk Chey Sart. Elyen attempts to restore her husband’s mind with the help of healers from far away lands
such as Rycolis and Western Khand, but to no avail.
1999 - By this year Ciryatandor had conquered Harshandat and claimed the Western shores of the wide
Bay of Ormal. Hoarmurath turns on the Avar, resulting in two unsuccessful battles between the Urdar and
Avar. Uvatha is appointed Warlord of the main army of Lower Khand. Ren leaves home on a pilgrimage
to his purported mountain home. He gathered a cult of followers throughout the winter of 1999-2000,
declaring himself Overlord of the Chey and beginning a campaign to subjugate other lands.
2000 - Komul arrives in Barad Dur where he is henceforth known as Khamul. Khamul becomes the
Master of the Hold at the dark tower. A man known as the Magician arrives in Tanurak, polarizing
support for Ji Indur. Korlan’s then-governor Loran Klien calls for a return to democracy and the King of
Koronade is driven from his land eastward to Mumakin. There Ji Indur found refuge with Sauron’s
minions before making a pact with the dark lord. Ji Indur accepted a ring of power, making him the fourth
of the Nazgul. Meanwhile in Marath Carnadúnê Sauron sent a sage emissary to speak with Akhorahil
where he was persuaded into accepting a ring of power thus becoming the fifth Nazgul. Sauron also sends
Khamul to Urd to speak with Hoarmurath and he too accepts a ring of power becoming the sixth Nazgul.
Variag and Nuriag warlords in northern Chey territories flee as Ren the Fire King quickly gains control of
various Chey tribes. Uvatha deposes the Urpof Dynasty of Lower Khand before turning his attention to
his uncle Mionid. Uvatha soon crushed his uncle’s army in battle and took control of Upper Khand.
2001 - Sauron gives Adûnaphel a ring of power and she rules at Vamag for nearly 300 years. This makes
her the seventh Nazgul. Using his ring of power Ji Indur conquers Mumakan on behalf of Sauron,
crowning himself Ji Amaav II of Mumakan, claiming to be the second coming of their first king God-lord
Amaav. Ji Indur’s reign would last 1261 years, during which he subjugated Gan, eastern Dushera, and
most of the southern archipelago. Seeing his potential, Sauron approaches Ren the Fire king and gives
him a ring of power, making him the eighth Nazgul. Ren launches a campaign to cleanse those who he
deemed unclean, the non-believers. Between 2001 and 2102, the population of the 36 Chey tribes dropped
by one third due to his religious purges. There were many included in those purges who were once friends
to the Fire King, including his own family.
Over time Akhorahil becomes more paranoid and a recluse. His wife/sister flees to Numenorean Haven at
Elorna, and with that Akhorahil begins purging the men of his court and institutes new governors over his
five provinces. Despite this, Akhorahil would continue to pay tribute to the Numenorean king and his
relations with Mordor were kept secret for 250 years.
2002 - Hoarmurath led his army Southeard to wage war on the Avar, this was called the War in the
Woods. Sauron offers Uvatha the Horseman a Ring of Power, thus becoming the ninth and last Nazgul.
2053 - The Urdar emerge victorious. The War in the Woods officially ends. Hoarmurath took Avar lands
and erected a strong royal government over the next two centuries.
2155 - The beginning of the First Chey Expansion. Ren the Fire King attacks northeast and south.
2221 - Tar-Atanamir dies the first king of Westernesse to not relinquish the throne before death, and
Tar-Ancalimon becomes the new king of Numenor.
2250 - By this time Akhorahil’s reach has grown far from the great sea to the Bay or Ormal, straddling all
routes across the Yellow Mountains and into Southernmost Middle-Earth. Sauron uses this to keep the
men of the West out of Far Harad. As the conquest of Harad neared completion, Tar-Ancalimon sent an
envoy to Ciryatandor in Spring to reaffirm his loyalty from the client king. Akhorahil ordered the envoy
kept hostage and formally declared independence from Numenor, publicly siding with Mordor. Dwar
departs for Barad-Dur in Mordor to breed war hounds for Sauron. Waw enters a time of peace.
Hoarmurath leaves his domain after choosing an heir to reside in Mordor.
Over the next 1011 years Hoarmurath stayed in Mordor where he oversaw the construction of defenses
surrounding Udun.
2280 - Adûnaphel assails Umbar before being defeated by the Dunedain defenders in the Battle of the
Gleaming Shore. The same Armada sent to reinforce Umbar also launches a fleet that landed in Tulwang,
only two hundred miles from the citadel of Marath Carnadúnê where Akhorahil ruled. Akhorahil sent an
army to meet the fleet but arrived too late. The men of the West crushed Ciryatandor’s forces leaving the
nation’s western borders virtually defenseless. Adûnaphel and Akhorahil are defeated and abandon their
capitals moving northward. Adûnaphel established the kingdom of Ard in central Near Harad where she
lived at the capital of Lugarlûr on the south bank of Harnen. Akhorahil meanwhile would oversee the
slave state of Nurn in Mordor, supplying Sauron’s armies with food and commanding from his castle
Luglurak on the southern shores of Nurnen. The two would remain in their new domains for the next 981
years.
2693 - The first Chey Expansion comes to an end. The army of the Fire King overruns the lands of
Dalpygis, part of Khargasis Ahar, Heb Aaraan, and Orgothraath. Ren has built an empire and elaborate
system of horse roads and garrison holds.
2899 - The Second Chey Expansion begins.
Within the first few decades of the Second Chey Expansion, Vaag, Acaana, and western Gaathgykarakan
fell. Ren’s army begins advancing northward to concentrate on the incorporation of the Kargasis Ahar and
the rich territory of Rycolis. The war raged on for two more centuries with the Kingdom of Chey Sart
reaching its peak.
3000 - Ji Indur forms a pact with the Magician of Tanturak and Tanturak declares itself independent from
Numenor, now with Mumakani support.
Sometime later the treaty between Tanturak and Mumakan ends and the Kiran republic is left exploited
and on the brink of collapse caught in the growing tension between Tantuak and Mumakan.
3259 - Ren the Fire King and the Chey army fight alongside Uvatha the Horsemen and his Variag soldiers
to take Khargasis Ahar.
3261 - Ar-Pharazôn invades and the kingdom of Ard falls. Khargasis Ahar is conquered and the Second
Chey Expansion comes to an end.
3262 - Sauron surrenders to Numenorean forces led by Ar-Pharazôn. This same force would spell the end
of Indur’s reign and Tanturak’s independence. Adûnaphel and Akhorahil flee to the Black Lands, Indur
and Khamul retreat to the east while Mumakan becomes a Numenorean subject state, and Dwar and
Hoarmurath return to their kingdoms in secret. Ren the Fire King stays in Ulk Chey Sart. The Witch King
remains in Mordor, operating in the shadows while his master was away.
Khamul first goes to Nurad before proceeding into Shay, the lands of his mother. There he found a
network of devoted and wicked servants whose greed would lead to the sundering of the five tribes.
3319 - The Fall of Numenor. Sauron returns to Mordor. The Nazgul reemerge. Adûnaphel begins
directing troops in Harondor and Near Harad. Akhorahil returns to his castle of Luglurak. Hoarmurath and
Indur return to Mordor. Khamul returns to Mordor where he upholds the fortress of Barad-Dur until 3340.
3320 - Dwar returns to Mordor to prepare for the war against the remaining Dunadain.
3350 - The Wardship of the Dark Tower is passed from Khamul to Urzahil of Umbar (later known as the
Mouth of Sauron) who formally became the Lieutenant of the Tower.
3340 - By this year, Khamul’s agent in Shay, Monarlan brought three of the tribes under the control of the
Shadow.
3429 - The Invasion of Ithilien led by Sauron and the Witch King. Adûnaphel commands the southern
flank of Sauron’s forces, while Hoarmurath commands the Northern flank. Akhorahil leads the host of
Nurn in the attack. Khamul and Ren would also fight in the invasion though their exact roles are
unknown. With this invasion the War of the Last Alliance begins. Khamul resided at Lug Ghurzun in
eastern Nurn for the first four and a half years of the War of the Last Alliance.
3434 - The Battle of Dagorlad. Most of Dwar’s army fell during the battle. The army of the Last Alliance
of Elves and Men fought its way through Udun, Khamul would retreat back to his master’s side.
3441 - The Dark Tower falls, the Nazgul fight the vanguard of the Elven Host. Sauron is defeated in battle
by Elendil and Gil-Galad. The Nazgul pass into shadow with their master.
