Section 6 – Employer’s Requirements 1
1 GENERAL
1.1 Introduction
1.1.1 Metro Line 7 [Andheri East -Dahisar East] of Mumbai Metro Rail project of MMRDA covers
one high density traffic corridor of Mumbai.
1.1.2 The Project is structured as a design and build basis.
1.1.3 Metro Line 7 [Andheri East -Dahisar East] of Mumbai Metro Rail project of MMRDA has been
envisaged to have an elevated Metro Rail Transit System (MRTS). It is about 17 km network
envisaging one corridor having 14 stations (Ref. Fig. 1).
1.2 Scope of Design Basis Report (DBR)
The document defines the requirements of Power Supply & SCADA System identifying the
various sub systems, design criterion and standards.
1.3 Applicable standards
The design of power supply and SCADA shall be based on latest IEC and 25 KV GIS shall be
based on Indian Railway System of Electric Traction as define in AC Traction Manual,
EN50119, IEC60913, & EN50126 as stringent required for application duty. Details are
enclosed in Annexure-2. Graphical symbols used in schematics shall conform to IEC 617-7 or
IS 12032 part 7.
1.4 Climatic Condition
Environmental Considerations
1.4.1 The Contractor shall be deemed to have considered all weather conditions arising from any
cause whatsoever, including river flooding, excessive rainfall, salinity, temperature, humidity,
high winds, lightning, or any other weather conditions and no compensation in any form shall
be granted for delay, damage or disruption from these causes, save to the extent the same
constitute an Force Majeure event under the Conditions of Contract.
1.4.2 Without limiting its liabilities under the Contract, the Contractor shall take all necessary
precautions to protect the Works and Contractor's Equipment against the effects of weather,
provided however Contractor shall inform the Employer in such circumstances which lead to
stoppage of works.
1.4.3 The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining and acting upon all relevant weather
information and no work shall be performed when such work is liable to be injuriously affected
by weather conditions.

2 Section 6 – Employer’s Requirements
1.4.4 The following information on climatic conditions in Mumbai shall be read as reference only and
the Contractor shall be responsible for gathering relevant detailed information from the
appropriate sources which shall be taken into account in the design of the Works. In case
information obtained by the Contractor varies significantly, the Contractor shall bring it to the
notice of the Employer. All equipment, structures and systems including electrical, mechanical
and hydraulic components shall be adequately specified for reliable and correct operation under
these conditions.
1.4.5 Temperature:
Mean maximum 33 0 C
Extreme maximum 45 0 C
Mean minimum 20 0 C
Extreme minimum 8 0 C
Average daily range 10 0 C
Rainfall:
Average annual 2200mm
Monsoon months (Jun-Sep) 1450mm/month max
Maximum >900mm/day
Relative Humidity:
Extreme maximum 100% saturation
Mean maximum >90%
Wind load 150kg/m2
Thunderstorm 85 days/year.
1.5 Design Philosophy of Power Supply and SCADA system
1.5.1 The system is capable of meeting the operational requirements of 2.75 minutes’ design
headway and 80 kmph operating speed.
1.5.2 The 110-kV power from TATA power Substation at Borivli shall be received at Magathane
Receiving Sub Station (RSS) provided with 110kV/33kV Transformers for auxiliary power
supply and 110/25kV Transformers with associated switchgears for traction power supply. 25
KV GIS shall distribute power for Train operation and the 33kV ring main system connected
to RSS shall distribute power on 33 kV for auxiliary power requirement of Stations and other
buildings through 33/0.415 kV transformers and associated switchgears. The Traction system
shall operate at the speed of 80 kmph. The Power Supply and Overhead Electric
Traction(OHE) System provided for Metro Line 7 [Andheri East -Dahisar East] of Mumbai
Metro Rail project of MMRDA is similar type of the system provided for other latest MRTS
projects.
