Biography: Wil Conduro was born at the very end of the dark
age, he spent most his life living free in the renaissance. He was the
son of a blacksmith, living in the Rejarn jungle in the foothills of the
Southern Mountain Spires. His people were renowned swordsman and
Wil had a sword in his hand shortly after learning to walk. He learned
his father’s trade; by the age of 12 he made better swords than even
his father and people from every clan in the jungle would come in
search of a Conduro sword.
He had a passion for learning; it helped him make better swords.
He enjoyed scaling the mountain spires and there, atop one of the
spires he a winged Elf named Honin who lived in a large house on top
of one of the taller spires. Honin was legendary for his great knowledge
and wisdom and the huge library he had in his home. Wil asked to be
taught and Honin gladly agreed. Wil had a knack for magic and a great
passion for alchemy, he was fascinated by chemicals and how they
reacted. After learning everything he could Honin recommended Wil go
to the Elven University in Duando to learn alchemy.
When he was 15, Wil got his fathers permission and left for the
university to study alchemy and sorcery. He studied at the university
and returned a knowledgeable alchemist and sorcerer and an even
better blacksmith and swordsman. He spent the next 10 years building
a life for himself and became a world famous swordsman and sword-
crafter.
One day, a wizard who called himself Lord Ravinkhar of Darkness
came to conquer them. The jungle clans weren’t too worried, they’re
always up for a good fight. The Conduro clan gathered at Wil’s
blacksmith shop where he sharpened their swords. They decided a
plan of action. The Vendar Clan was already heavily engaged in
combat. Scouts had identified the commander of the offending force
and the warriors of the Conduro clan were going to take him out.
They set out for the Vendar village but stayed away from the
main roads. Approaching from behind, they snuck up on the shadow
mage and attacked. Before they could reach Ravinkhar they had to
deal with his Dark Paladins. It was a close fight; in the end only Wil and
his sister Cif were standing, the only members of the Conduro clan who
were able to stand against Ravinkhar’s Dark Paladins. In the end, the
only Dark Paladin with his head still attached was Dupraiv.
The two remaining Conduro warriors attacked together, Dupraiv
deflected Wil and impaled Cif on his sword. Casting away her body with
a telekinetic thrust, he turned to face last warrior of the Conduro clan.
Wil attacked ferociously but he could not penetrate Dupraiv’s armor.
Dupraiv could not even touch Wil Conduro with his blade and Wil knew
enough magic to defend against Dupraiv's magic.
Wil Recognized Dupraiv, he had come into his shop 6 months ago
and commissioned the very sword he’s fighting with now.
They fought for a long time with out an obvious victor before
Lord Ravinkhar separated them. He offered Wil a position working for
him. Wil refused, but the Dark Lord told him that if he refused he would
kill every last one of his people. Looking around him Wil saw that his
people were dying and this may be their only hope.
Now Wil Conduro, a young mortal man (age 25) serves under the
Dark Lord. Wil is the greatest swordsman who has ever lived; he is also
a talented sorcerer and a scientist. He is essentially a good person who
does not wish to serve evil, but in order to save his people from certain
destruction at the hands of The Dark One, Wil Conduro is forced to
serve him humbly. Of course Ravinkhar doesn’t trust Wil at all, which is
why he has never granted him immortality as he has his previous
‘Magi’. Instead he forced Wil to allow Ravinkhar to cast a permanent
spell of Domination on him.
Wil Conduro is an amazing swordsman and Ravinkhar enjoys
sending him on insane suicide missions, only to watch in his crystal ball
as Wil succeeds and returns unscathed every time without fail.
After only 5 years with Lord Ravinkhar, Sam Seldon kills Lord
Ravinkhar and takes over. At first Sam is lead astray by Lisdhoar and
Dupraiv, and for 5 years wallows in his newfound dark power. But Wil
Conduro plots with Azmoiveine to show Sam Seldon the error of his
ways.
During this time Lisdhoar has been plotting against Sam the
whole time while appearing to be his most trusted confidant. Lisdhoar
has been planning to turn Azmoiveine against their new master. Trying
to convince him they were sworn to the man not the scepter, but he
doesn’t even believe it himself. He manages to separate Sam from the
scepter another way. Upon hearing Sam's story of being a time
traveling historian, he convinces Sam that the scepter belongs locked
away in a vault in the treasury for historic preservation.
Wil Conduro waits for the appropriate moment, when it will have
the greatest effect, he tells Sam about his actual control over
Azmoiveine and the rest of them, how they are all sworn to the bearer
of the scepter. He tells Sam of Lisdhoar’s plots against Lord Ravinkhar
and his betrayal of Lord Seldon. Sam is outraged and orders Lisdhoar’s
execution.
This duty falls to Mang, but Lisdhoar will not be taken easily. He
cannot defeat Mang in battle, but he can hold him off pretty much
indefinitely. Lisdhoar is used to sending his minions to fight his battles
for him, it’s been many centuries since he has had to unsheathe his
sword for anything but pleasure.
Holding Mang magically suspended 3 feet in the air, he was
helpless. Sam ordered Dupraiv to kill Lisdhoar. As Dupraiv approached
him, Lisdhoar said “Now is the time general, now or never.”
Dupraiv stopped. Looked to Mang and asked
“Are you with us?”
Mang nodded the affirmative. Looking to Lisdhoar, Dupraiv said
“Very well.”
Mang was released and the three of them turned on Sam, who
didn’t happen to be carrying his scepter at the time. He hadn’t used it
in a long time, it was locked away in the treasury for safe keeping as
an archeological artifact.
Wil Conduro stood beside Sam and reminded him of his
continued power over Azmoiveine using his slave collar. The three
rebels attacked, Wil fought back Mang and Dupraiv simultaneously to
leave Lisdhoar to Sam and Azmoiveine.
Sam met blades with Lisdhoar, but the vampire was by far the
superior swordsman. In the fight Sam ordered Azmoiveine to “cast
Lisdhoar out of this world”. Azmoiveine obeys this order literally with a
Wish spell, exiling Lisdhoar to the Halo world that orbits their planet.
Sam doesn’t know this, he’s just glad Lisdhoar is gone.
Sam turns his attention to Mang. Allowing Wil to focus on fighting
the only man he has never been able to defeat with a blade; Wil has a
new sword and better armor this time.
Sam is no match for Mang, but he has an idea, he orders
Azmoiveine to remove his collar and join the fight as a free man. Upon
hearing this order Mang turns to run and escape, but Dupraiv fights on.
“Wil Conduro!” yells Azmoiveine in a voice Wil has never heard
him use.
“Please step back.”
Wil quickly rolls out of the way as a collar free Azmoiveine calls
Lisdhoar's sword to his hand and sends it flying at Dupraiv, who tries to
deflect the attack. He is not fast enough, the blade flies straight into
his eye, the only chink in Dupraiv's full plate armor. Azmoiveine has
dreamt of that moment a long time, ever since Dupraiv first accused
him of cheating at the magic academy all those years ago.
Dupraiv is bleeding profusely, but still standing. Azmoiveine
casts a spell of extraordinary power at the Dark Paladin. Dupraiv flies
back through the wall behind him and is launched into the sky. (Master
Blaster combined with Nailed to the Sky)
At first they thought he was dead, but Dupraiv survived and lead
his Dark Paladins into hiding to plot their comeback. The Paladin Wars
were the 500 years it took for Sam to vanquish the Dark Paladins from
this land.
Mang escaped and made it back to his people in the Sungal
dessert to take his place as Chief of the Tribes of Smamok.
Wil Conduro was made grand General of the Army. Azmoiveine
took Sam Seldon as his student and for as long as they knew each
other Azmoiveine remained Sam's closest and most trusted friend.
Sam wanted to grant Wil Conduro immortality but Wil refused,
instead he wanted to take care of his people and secure an heir, and
thus began a long tradition of Conduro generals and other important
leaders.
Wil Conduro lived another 50 years and had many great
adventures serving under Sam Seldon, the Great Wizard King. He died
in battle; after meeting Dupraiv face to face many more times on the
battle fields of the Paladin Wars, Dupraiv, an immortal, was able to
take advantage of Wil’s aging body and, for the first, last and only
time, Dupraiv's blade touched the body of Wil Conduro.
The actual number of swords he made in his lifetime is unknown,
however, the swords he did make are priceless works of art. They are
revered as the greatest swords ever made. Wil’s swords can be
identified by the emblem of the Conduro clan he carved into the
handle of every sword he ever made (it is customary for Rejarn sword
smiths to place some kind of signature on every blade they make, thus
their own pride drives them to make better swords).
Conduro copy swords are everywhere, the very best swords in
modern times are swords made by studying the Conduro technique. As
hard as they try though, they will never top the original. In general a
certified original Conduro sword is worth 10 times the price. Conduro
swords are always Keen Masterwork Katanas, this is a non-magical
bonus that would stack with a magical Keen bonus.
The personal swords of Wil Conduro were handed down from
father to son through the ages. They're the two very best swords he
ever made, after all, they’re the ones he kept for himself. Onc Vendar
eventually broke that tradition when he took possession of these
swords after his elderly uncle, a Conduro man, died with no sons or
daughters.
The other swords are rarely identified publicly; most people who
own a Conduro sword don’t want any one else to know about it. Some
people are actually dumb enough to try to steal a Conduro sword from
its owner.
Wil enjoyed the after life. He explored the world, then to the halo
and the moons and eventually the rest of the Quintary Star System.
When at last he decided to return to his homeland, he discovered the
land had been cursed by the undead. The Necromaster was a metal
man, the only humanity he had was a small amount of brain matter,
and half of his brain was a computer.
Wil recognized the swords this Necromaster carried, they were
his. Upon investigation, Wil discovered that this was what had become
of his descendant, Onc Vendar. Once again, it was up to Wil Conduro to
save the world. With his Orb Drones no one could challenge Onc
Vendar, but then Wil didn't need to fight him.
Given his Necromastery and his years spent communing with
ghosts on the halo, Onc Vendar was able to see and communicate with
Wil Conduro. Wil told him he was very disappointed in his heir and that
he must be stopped. Onc tried to fight him, but could do nothing. Given
his age, Wil was a very wise and powerful ghost and was impervious to
Onc’s influence; he could not be turned.
Wil inhabited Onc’s body, shutting him out; Wil absorbed his
knowledge and his memory in an attempt to understand him. Wil
learned about the vampirism, and the thousands of years spent
abandoned on the halo, he understood, but he still didn't approve. He
took Onc’s body and installed in it all the technology used in Orb
Drones. Using holography, Wil projected an image of himself in the
prime of his life around the metal skeleton and continued life as an
immortal Cyborg.
