Lisdhoar
This needs a lot of work, most of this is crap and will be cut.
       Name: Lisdhoar
Half-Elf Vampire, Lord of Death and Necromaster of the Undead
       Alignment: chaotic Evil
Biography: The Classical Age; Lisdhoar was born in the valley of the undead near
the beginning of the middle age. His mother was the ghoulish servant of a necromancer
who wanted an heir to his power. This was during a time of great tension between the
vampires and the necromancers, it was up to Lisdhoar to end it by subjugating the
vampires and solidifying the power of the necromancers.
At this time in the valley of Undeath, the necromancers rule through the use of
undead (mostly Zombies and Ghouls at this point), the peasants live in constant horror,
their lives being for the sole purpose of providing fodder for the undead.
Lisdhoar was a great warrior in the battle of the undead; when his father was
burned at the steak by vampires, he became the Necromaster. He was captured in battle
by the vampires. They forced him to drink their blood, once he had fully turned to a
vampire he was returned to his people. They instantly turned on him because he was now
one of their sworn enemies, but Lisdhoar was now more powerful than ever. Those who
opposed him were turned, dead.
In order to bring peace to his people, he began forcing all the necromancers to
drink of his blood or else he would drink theirs. Once every one in power was a vampire,
the other vampires were indoctrinated in necromancy of the Undead. After setting up a
new vamperic Necromaster, Lisdhoar left the valley in search of further adventure.
He traveled south, out of the mountains and into the dessert where he found a
race of primitive people who called themselves the Sungal. He easily conquered them and
ruled them for a time, just for the fun of it really, they had nothing of value but they were
great warriors who made worthy opponents.
In a short time however, 8 mages came to the dessert in search of a great dark
power they had sensed from afar, he was barely able to defeat them. When a Wizard and
his apprentice showed up soon after, he knew he couldn’t defeat them, so he ordered his
slaves to kill them, knowing they couldn’t, and escaped during the fight.
He wandered among the Human population as a vampire for many years before
he returned to the valley to reclaim his throne. It had been a long time since he left,
several Necromasters had come and gone. The current Necromaster did not recognize
Lisdhoar’s claim to his throne.
In Lisdhoar's absence, the undead had turned their attention to the living. This is
when the Keepers of the Dead intervened. They were willing to let the undead fight
amongst themselves forever, but once they threatened the living, that’s when they got
involved.
The greatest forces of the undead were no matches for even one of the Keepers
and they were quickly dispatched. The keepers fought them back and herded them back
into the valley of the undead where they blocked them in by causing an avalanche.
The Keepers of the Dead are an organization of undead fighters who worship
Daigentu. They are epic warriors and sages who keep the dead in their place. They
recognize that they couldn’t possibly destroy all the undead, there are too many and they
are too powerful, but you can isolate them.
Soon Sigmund Ravinkhar came with his army. The undead were pleased, they
hadn’t had fresh blood in a long time. Ravinkhar’s forces didn’t stand a chance against
the undead. Half of his forces died in the mountains, the vamperic necromancer scouts
raised frozen zombies to flank the invading army.
When they finally attacked the valley they were met with a mass of zombies,
whenever a soldier fell he got back up quickly and fought for the other side. Ravinkhar’s
forces couldn’t dismember the bodies fast enough. The Dark Lord flew over the battle to
destroy them all with fireballs. Now without an army he challenged the Necromaster to a
duel. At first he refused, but Ravinkhar taunted him, and used magic to enhance his ego
and weaken his mind.
Lord Ravinkhar talks him into wagering his throne, the Necromaster accepts
arrogantly. The Dark Lord casts a single spell and the Necromaster turns to dust. The
remaining undead then bow to their new master.
Lord Ravinkhar takes command of the undead and asks whom their leaders
replacement is. There is much argument about this, Lisdhoar ends up second in command
and is left to govern the valley of the undead while Pyrlosk the Necromaster goes off with
Lord Ravinkhar to teach him the ways of necromancy.
Lisdhoar becomes comfortable in his power and is annoyed many years later
when Azmoiveine kills the Necromaster. He goes to become the new Necromaster, but
he is not pleased with the changes that Lord Ravinkhar makes. Command of the Dark
Paladins is handed over to their next in rank Dupraiv, this is a position that Lisdhoar feels
rightly belongs to him as Necromaster.
The skull scepter of Queagle, now containing the knowledge and the power of the
Ancient Wizards Counsel is not handed down to the next Necromaster as per tradition,
instead Lord Ravinkhar keeps it for himself. Instead of arguing with him, Lisdhoar
decides to over throw his throne and take over as emperor.
Ravinkhar attaches an Orb to the scepter to add to its power. He then makes all
his closest servants swear an oath of “loyalty to the Dark Lord, ruler of all the land,
master of the undead, bearer of the skull scepter of Queagle.” Due to a technicality of
wording, a mistake on Ravinkhar’s part, their loyalty is to whom ever holds the scepter,
not to Sigmund Ravinkhar.
Lisdhoar is an ideal servant, giving no hint of anything but total loyalty. He must
arrange for Ravinkhar, Mang, Dupraiv and Wil Conduro to be separated and killed. The
master doesn’t let any of them far out of his reach so that could be difficult. Due to the
technicality of the oath, Lisdhoar was only able to plot against Ravinkhar when he wasn’t
holding the scepter. He had a plan, and it was about to be set into motion when a mortal
Human with a strange magic item killed Lord Ravinkhar.
At first Sam is lead astray by Lisdhoar and Dupraiv, and for a time wallows in his
newfound dark power. But Wil Conduro plots with Azmoiveine to show Sam Seldon the
error of his ways.
During this time Lisdhoar has been plotting against Sam the whole time while
appearing to be his most trusted confidant. Lisdhoar has been planning to turn
Azmoiveine against their new master. Trying to convince him they were sworn to the
man not the scepter, but he doesn’t even believe himself.
He manages to separate Sam from the scepter another way. Upon hearing Sam's
story of being a time traveling historian, he convinces Sam that the scepter belongs
locked away in a vault in the treasury for historic preservation.
Wil Conduro waits for the appropriate moment, when it will have the greatest
effect, he tells Sam about his actual control over Azmoiveine and the rest of them, how
they are sworn to the bearer of the scepter. He tells Sam of Lisdhoar’s plots against Lord
Ravinkhar and his betrayal of Lord Seldon. Sam is outraged and orders Lisdhoar’s
execution.
This duty falls to Mang, but Lisdhoar will not be taken easily. He cannot defeat
Mang in battle, but he can hold him off with magic indefinitely. Lisdhoar is used to
sending his minions to fight his battles for him, it’s been many centuries since he has had
to unsheathe his sword for anything but pleasure.
Holding Mang magically suspended 3 feet in the air, he was helpless. Sam
ordered Dupraiv to kill Lisdhoar. As Dupraiv approached him, Lisdhoar said, “Now is the
time general, now or never.”
Dupraiv stopped. Looked to Mang and asked
        “Are you with us?”
Mang nodded the affirmative. Looking to Lisdhoar, Dupraiv said
        “Very well.”
Mang was released and the three of them turned on Sam, who didn’t happen to be
carrying his scepter at the time. He hadn’t used it in a long time; it was locked away in
the treasury for safe keeping as an archeological artifact.
Wil Conduro stood beside Sam and reminded him of his continued power over
Azmoiveine with his slave collar. The three rebels attacked, Wil fought back Mang and
Dupraiv simultaneously to leave Lisdhoar to Sam and Azmoiveine.
In the fight Sam ordered Azmoiveine to “cast Lisdhoar out of this world”.
Azmoiveine obeys this order literally, exiling Lisdhoar to the Halo world that orbits their
planet.
Lisdhoar finds himself teleported suddenly into the middle of a forest. He begins
walking until he finds a clearing. Looking up he sees that the sky is very different here;
there are no stars and no sun, just a massive planet that fills the whole sky and reflects the
light of the unseen suns. He realizes where he is.
Living on the blood of rats and birds and things, he begins to explore the halo and
finds the remnants of an ancient civilization. At first they seemed to be very primitive,
but the more he learns, he finds that they were very knowledgeable and scientific.
During the many centuries he spends stranded on the halo Lisdhoar learns all he
can about the ancient people who once lived here. They had vast technology that takes
Lisdhoar centuries to even comprehend. It takes him even longer to figure out how to use
it, what’s left of it anyway.
He learns other things along the way too, eventually he is able to decipher the
alien language; it seems to be a combination of the ancient Elven tongue and the
language of the Sungal.
The ancient writings tell of a vicious warlord named Onc Vendar and how he
came to this Halo with his people long ago. The writings follow a calendar that Lisdhoar
is not familiar with.
According to the story the dead were raised against Onc Vendar in a great war. In
the final battle, Onc Vendar fought against a “wizard of death” (‘a necromancer?’ thought
Lisdhoar.) the death wizard threw fire at Vendar, melting away his flesh to reveal a
skeleton made of steal.
Vendar lost the fight, but didn't die, according to the story, he lives. Because
Vendar is a metal man, he cannot be killed, so the death wizard removes his limbs and
hides them deep inside each of Vendar's 5 pyramids spread out across the halo, so he
could never be reassembled.
The story also explains who wrote it, the remaining people on the Halo. After the
Wizard of death left, the dead roamed the Halo, eating the brains of who ever still lived.
The remaining people hid out in the temples and held off the hungry zombies for more
than a century, but eventually, the zombie death squads found them all. With out any
living people to feed on, the zombies eventually died off as well.
Lisdhoar understood what had happened here, a necromancer had come. This was
the formation of the scepter of skulls; as a high priest of necromancy, Lisdhoar knew the
story well. Queagle had gone to the halo, he was the death wizard. The vampires and
necromancers remained segregated under the rule of the Necromaster until the time of
Lisdhoar.
Lisdhoar went to the nearest pyramid and began to explore. Once deep inside he
found what appeared to be a ceremonial temple of the undead. High atop a sacred alter in
the center of the room, he found the rusted remains of a man's torso, made of metal. He
knew right away, this was part of the remains of Onc Vendar.
He set out on foot to explore the other pyramids. Being that the Halo is so vast
and the pyramids were spread out evenly; even with the speed of a vampire, it took him a
century to trek from one pyramid to the next; each time gathering the next piece of Onc’s
body and putting it in a sack. The last pyramid he visited housed the head of Onc Vendar.
To Lisdhoar's astonishment, it was still alive after all these years, though over time, his
mind had gone totally insane. (Staring at a dark wall unblinking, thinking but unable to
move for a half a million years will do that to a person.)
Onc's head speaks in cryptic riddles. Since he finally has someone to talk to, Onc
begins to come to his senses. Once they return to the first pyramid, Onc talks Lisdhoar
through the steps necessary to rebuild him. At this point Lisdhoar isn’t even sure if this is
a good idea, he's lost hope of ever returning to glory, and is mostly just seeking some
companionship, he has been alone for so long now.
It takes a long time for Lisdhoar to reassemble his new friend; necessary parts are
missing, tools are needed. Lisdhoar searches where Onc tells him to and finds everything
exactly where Onc said he would.
Onc tells Lisdhoar of how the ghosts of his former servants would come to him
sometimes and taunt him. Being still for so long, but maintaining his power and
knowledge of necromancy, Onc was able to commune with the dead.
Over time, Onc tells Lisdhoar the story of the apocalyptic age, the invention of the
Orb Drones and the eventual downfall of society. Lisdhoar thinks he is talking about
ancient history, since little is actually known about the time of the arrival.
Onc tells him how he was the Necromaster, but a rival to his throne, in the heat of
battle, called upon a powerful vortex, which engulfed him. It left him stranded here, on
the halo world. He found a backward, primitive Human society on the halo, so he took it
upon himself to become their new Emperor.
Seeing that birds and dragons could come and go as they pleased between the halo
and the planet proper, Onc set about capturing a dragon, this was not easily done, he had
to use zombies because the humans were too scared, and when they died they stayed
dead. If a dragon ate a zombie, the zombie would just continue as before, except inside
the dragons stomach.
Eventually, he was able to get a dragon buried under enough zombies to hold it
down while he turned it to a ghoul. Then he rode the dragon down to the planet. Things
had changed; it dawned upon Onc that he had been sent back in time. His hope was that
he was in some kind of predestination paradox where he was actually the great ancient
Dark Wizard of legend.
His first conquest was to be of the undead, as you know, that didn't work out so
well. He also set his zombies to work building the pyramids in a grand scheme to conquer
the whole world. If it had worked, the halo would have functioned like a weapon that
could decimate an entire city in the blink of an eye. Onc was defeated before his dream
was realized, and Queagle only partly figured it out.
As he explained, fantasies of world domination danced before Lisdhoar's eyes. He
asked if it would still work. Onc said yes, but because of Queagle's meddling with the
plan, you would now need the skull scepter to be able to use it.
The centuries passed, in time. No dragons ever came to the halo anymore, they
knew all about the undead and their ghouls; some still came on rare occasions but
Lisdhoar and Vendar never captured them. Eventually space ships were invented. One
day a ship crashed on the halo and Lisdhoar took full advantage; he turned the entire crew
into ghouls and once again enjoyed the pleasure of servants.
They set the distress call on the ship to be continually broadcast, but it was a long
time before anyone came to investigate. During the Paladin exodus to the monastery, a
gun ship carrying only two paladins detected the distress signal and landed their ship near
the wreckage; they had room to carry the survivors to safety.
Metal Onc, Lisdhoar and their ghouls got the jump on them and ghoulified them.
Then Lisdhoar, Onc, the two paladins ghouls and 4 other ghouls packed themselves into
the ship for the short trip to the planet, then sent on of the ghouls back to begin shuttling
the rest of the ghouls down to the planet.
Mang was still the chief of the tribes of Smamok; who at this time own and
control the Sungal dessert. Lisdhoar and Metal Onc arrive and tried to talk Mang into
world conquest. Mang is satisfied for now; his people live comfortably and face no
imminent threat. Lisdhoar tells him of the great empire of undead that lies north of the
dessert in the green lands and Mang realizes that it will not be long before the undead
venture south.
They join forces and go to war with the undead in the north. Lisdhoar makes use
of Mang’s Elven slaves to create his own army of undead; Mang forbade him from using
Sungal. Together, under the command of Lisdhoar, the undead and the Sungal push
north.
The main battlefield is the forest of Vomisa. In a great war of undead, two
Necromasters struggle for power. When at last they reach the city of Azmoiveine, the
battle is brought to the city streets. Upon a roof top Lisdhoar faces off against the wizard
in command of the enemy force.
Lisdhoar is almost defeated, but in a desperate final move, he casts a spell Onc
taught him, which opens a vortex. Without any consideration of where (or whence) it
might lead, he pushes Onc back over the edge of the rooftop and into the vortex. The
vortex grows in size and power until it swallows every warrior on the battlefield;
Lisdhoar barely manages to save himself before he can close the vortex.
Lisdhoar never did learn the name of that necromancer; he didn't really care. He
became the Necromaster and true to their agreement, Lisdhoar leaves Mang alone forever
after to live peacefully in the Sungal dessert. Soon after that however, Metal Onc betrays
Lisdhoar, kills him and takes his place as Necromaster. Then Onc conquers the Sungal,
kills Mang in battle and enslaves his people.
