ABOUT TNNLU
The Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU), Tiruchirappalli,
located in Srirangam Taluk of the Tiruchirappalli District was
established by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Tamil Nadu
Act No. 9 of 2012 to provide quality legal education. TNNLU
commenced functioning in the academic year 2013-2014.
It offers two five-year integrated undergraduate programmes viz. B.A.
LL.B(Hons.) & B.Com. LL.B.(Hons.) and three One Year LL.M.
Programmes viz. LL.M. (Corporate and Securities Laws), LL.M.
(Intellectual Property Laws) and LL.M. (Natural Resources Law). The
University also offers a Doctoral Programme in Law.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized and
approved TNNLU under Sections 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act, 1956.
TNNLU is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI). TNNLU aims to
develop a sense of responsibility to society among the students and
faculty through the study of law.

ABOUT LAC
The Legal Aid Committee at TNNLU was formed in the year 2014.
The objective of this committee is to create legal awareness
among the general public while facilitating the interaction of
students with the community.
The committee aims to create awareness and educate different
sections of society about various legislations, policies, rules, and
regulations.
To achieve its aims and objectives, the committee undertakes
various initiatives which includes Legal Awareness Campaigns in
nearby villages, schools, and colleges.
The committee also runs a Legal Aid Clinic constituted under the
aegis of the Legal Service Authorities Act, 1987.

ABOUT LA FESTO
La festo is a flagship initiative of the Legal Aid Committee of
TNNLU to educate and inspire the students of law institutions to
provide free legal aid and assistance to the people in need. Since
2016, it has grown into a dynamic platform merging legal insight
with practical impact.
This year the Legal Aid Committee is expanding the horizon of
Lafesto by opening the doors to young minds from other
disciplines of higher education in an attempt to make them
aware of their legal rights in order to equip them to promote
further legal awareness.
La Festo-4th Edition unfolds on September 28th and 29th, 2024
featuring thought- captivating competitions and a panel
discussion. The objective is to facilitate insightful conversations
on contemporary legal issues amongst the participants and
foster societal change.

EYALVATHU KARAVEL
(CREATE LEGAL AWARENESS)
This event focuses on creating legal awareness and empowering the
residents of La Festo Village (a mock village). The participating teams shall
take a stroll through La Festo Village where they shall explore crafted
scenarios, engage with residents and uncover legal issues!
After interacting with the residents, teams will conduct a legal awareness
program on the identified legal issues and shall provide legal advice on
those issues to the residents. Further, the participants shall draft petitions
in the regard.
Teams shall be evaluated on the effectiveness of the legal awareness
program and the quality and accuracy of petitions drafted.
Medium of the competiton shall be English.

THERU KOOTHU
(STREET PLAY/NUKKAD NAATAK)
Theru Koothu (Street Play) sets up a grand stage for teams to
showcase their ability to provide legal awareness by creatively
incorporating singing, dancing, poetry and other theatrical skills.
Theru koothu as the name suggests shall be organised in an open
space and no audio systems will be provided.
Performances shall be in Tamil, English or Hindi. Themes for the
event shall be Right to Education, Women Empowerment, Voter’s
Rights, Cyber Security.
Eligibility Time Limit
1. Team Composition: Maximum time of 15
minutes.

COMPETITION)
The event aims to identify key challenges faced by Legal Aid
Committees in providing legal aid and promoting legal awareness by
proposing an action plan that addresses these issues through
innovative solutions.
Each team shall submit an abstract of their action plan outlining the
challenges identified and proposed solutions. Selected abstracts shall
be published as a book and launched during the Inaugural event. The
abstract shall not exceed 250 words.Further, the selected teams shall
present their action plan as a poster/ 3D Model during the
competition in the Expo set up for the purpose.

(MIME)
In this competition, creativity and expression take center stage as
participants translate complex legal concepts into compelling,
wordless stories. The participants are required to prepare and
perform a short mime.
This provides an opportunity to the participants to showcase their
creativity and celebrates the intersection of law and artistic
expression. No dialogues or verbal communication is permitted.
Themes for the event shall be Right to Education, Women
Empowerment, Voter’s Rights, Cyber Security, Consumer
Protection, Environmental Protection, Anti-Corruption.

LIGHTS, LAW AND ACTION!
In this event, the participants are presented with clips from a
selection of popular movies, each highlighting a different legal issue.
Task of the participant is to identify the legal concepts at play in each
scene.
This is a unique opportunity to see how the laws we study and apply every
day are portrayed on the big screen. Participants will not only enjoy
revisiting some of their favorite movie moments, but they'll also sharpen
their legal acumen in the process.

PANEL DISCUSSION
The La Festo- 4th Edition shall conclude with an insightful and
enriching Panel Discussion wherein various renowned scholars in
the field of law and legal aid, shall delineate the challenges
encountered by the Legal Aid Clinics and explore the possible
solutions to overcome the identified challenges.
The Panel discussion shall be open to all students currently
pursuing Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree programs in any
recognised Educational Institution within India.
The participants of the panel discussion shall be awarded with a
certificate, acknowledging their participation.

The Registration fee paid for the competition(s)/
