The Human Evolution
Human evolution is the lengthy process of
change by which people originated from
apelike ancestors. Scientific evidence
shows that the physical and behavioral
traits shared by all people originated from
apelike ancestors and evolved over a
period of approximately six million years.
There are stages of evolution of a
human throughout the years.
It is a common understanding that change the
only permanent in this world. Every living thing
is dynamic and such undergoes transformation
likewise man as the most important component
of society goes through revolutionary changes
that help him adapt to his environment. Thus
his adaptation started the formation of society
as well as cultural development which is
essential for survival scientists became
interested in studying the origin and evolution
of man especially in analyzing man’s capacity
to cope with the existing environment.
Species and Characteristics
Homo Habilis
Had a brain with a Broca’s area associated with speech in
modern humans. They were the first to make stone tools.
The ability to make and use tools is a unique quality to
humans, Making them the true first human.
Home Erectus Had a
body proportion similar
to modern humans. They
adapted to hot climates
and spread across Africa
and Asia. They were the
first hunters to
improvised tools like
Axes, and Knives and
the first to produce fire.
Homo Rudolfensis Had
a longer face,larger
molar and premolar
teeth and a larger
brain case compared
to habilis. They also
had larger frontal
lobes,which are areas
of the brain that
process information.
Homo Heidelbergensis
Had a larger brow
ridges and short wide
bodies. They were the
first early humans to
live in colder climates
and the first to hunt
large animals on a
routine basis using
spears. They were also
the first to construct
Homo Floreseinsis
Nicknamed “Hobbit”
due to they’re small
stature(around 3 feet
tall). They live in the
island of Flores.
Alongside other
dwarfed animal
species.
Homo Sapiens This is
the species we belong
to. It means “Wise
Man” and appeared
200,000 years ago.
Homo Sapiens Sapiens This is
another sub-species of homo
sapiens known as Cro-
Magnon. They were
anatomically modern human
and lived in Europe during the
last Ice Age,Around 40,000
years to 10,000 years ago.
They were the first to create
art in cave paintings and to
make decorated tools and
accessories.
