WRITING – ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
CRITERIA I – CONTENT: DEMONSTRATE CONTENT KNOWLEDGE ALONG THE TEXT.
0 The text is NOT related to the proposal.
0.1 The text is related to the topic, BUT some information is missing.
0.2 The ideas presented in the text are understandable AND related to the topic.
0.3 The ideas presented in the text are COMPLETELY understandable and it is NOT STRICTED to the given questions.
CRITERIA II – CLARITY OF IDEAS: SELECT, RELATE, ORGANIZE AND UNDERSTAND INFORMATION, FACTS AND
ARGUMENTS ABOUT THE GIVEN CONTEXT.
0 The ideas presented in the text are NOT related to the topic AND/OR the sentences are not understandable.
0.1 The ideas presented in the text are related to the topic, BUT it needs improvement to make it clear many times.
0.2 The ideas presented in the text are well related to the topic AND it can also need improvement to make it clear.
0.3 The ideas presented in the text are COMPLETELY related to the topic AND the idea does NOT need the reader
interference.
CRITERIA III – FORMAT: UNDERSTAND THE PROPOSAL AND WRITE A TEXT WITHIN THE LIMITS OF A PROSE TEXT.
0 The text is NOT related to the topic AND/OR the text is NOT written in prose.
0.1 The sentences are written in paragraph(s) in prose BUT the text doesn’t fit the genre required.
0.2 The sentences are WELL written in paragraph(s) in prose AND the text fits the genre required.
CRITERIA IV – GRAMMAR: DEMONSTRATE THE FORMAL STRUCTURE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE NECESSARY FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE SENTENCES IN THE TEXT.
0 The text was written in Portuguese language or any other language.
0.1 There are MANY grammar mistakes in the text, which is difficult to understand it most of the time.
0.2 There are many grammar mistakes in the text, but it is NOT difficult to understand it.
0.3 There are SOME grammar mistakes in the text and it is easy to understand it. There is NO need to read once or
twice to get the meaning.
0.4 There are grammar mistakes in the text, BUT it is easy to understand the meaning.
If the grammar mistake is related to the grammar point studied during the bimester, student should be
evaluated on the level above.
0.5 There is NO grammar mistake and the sentences are well written. It is allowed only ONE mistake.
CRITERIA V – VOCABULARY: DEMONSTRATE THE CORRECT USE OF ACCEPTABLE VOCABULARY TO WRITE THE
SENTENCES IN THE TEXT.
0 The words presented in the sentences are NOT related to the topic AND/OR there are many words in
Portuguese.
0.1 Many of the words in the sentences are incorrect (misspelling or inaccurated).
0.2 The words in the sentences are correct, but there are FEW mistakes (misspelling or inaccurated).
0.3 The words in the sentences are correct, but there are SOME mistakes (misspelling or inaccurated).

CRITERIA VI – PUNCTUATION: DEMONSTRATE THE CORRECT USE OF PUNCTUATION IN THE TEXT, BASED ON THE
ENGLISH LANGUAGE RULES.
0 There is NO use of punctuation in the text.
0.1 There is use of punctuation, BUT incorrection is presented.
0.2 There is use of punctuation, and only ONE incorrect use of punctuation.
