Gender Equality tries to level the two genders by planting respect for human rights in the minds of the

society. It is a state of having equal facility to access the resources and opportunities irrespective of
gender in participation in the economy and in decision-making. It is more than an objective itself. It is a
precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and
building good governance. Traditionally, it has been a women's movement for women, but really, it is
the impact of gender inequality and how it is affecting men that has not really been addressed.

A gender stereotype is a broad assumption or generalization made about the behaviors, characteristics,
and roles of women and men. Some feminine stereotypical roles are intelligent, career-oriented, and
tough. These assumptions are sometimes negative (e.g., women are stupid, men are heartless) or
apparently positive (e.g., women are caretakers, men are natural leaders). All stereotyping, though is
confining.

During this century, the society felt the development of women regarding various economic, social, and
political indicators in every region of our world close to gender equality. At the same time, on the other
side, men as a community, political, or religious leader has access to a large range of resources, such as
health and educational services in which the society has accepted equality between men and women.

Regardless of that, everyone still has his or her set of ideas regarding how we should expect men and
women to dress, act, and present themselves. In that case, it is possible to find those different types of
stereotyping people. However, they generally depend on race, sex, and ethnicity. Every society, ethnic
group, and culture has gender role expectations. Gender roles defined to be a social role encompassing
a set of behaviors and attitudes that are generally acceptable appropriate and desirable on what sexual
orientation is.

You may probably see many gender stereotypes all around you. This stereotypical expectation reflects
not only differences but also influences how males and females define themselves as well as others.

You can see probable gender stereotypes around you. The stereotypical expectations, while reflecting
already existent differences, do go a step ahead in changing how both men and women, themselves as
well as other individuals, define them.

A child at 3 years of age will stereotype by showing him pictures of objects and when growing up, they
tend to think that stereotyping is just an option but find it not offensive to other people. This might lead
to a low sense of self since some think that they can not do what they really want because "they are like
this" and "they are like that" and that they may be ashamed or uncomfortable every time they go.

In a gender stereotypes study by Jacobs, it was discovered that stereotypes of parents interact with the
sex of their child and directly influence their child's self-perceptions, with both the parent stereotypes
and the child's self-perceptions influencing the child's performance. Stereotype threat is being at risk of
confirming, as self-characteristics, a negative stereotype about one's group. This theory suggests that
the implicit belief in gender stereotype that women are worse performers than men propels lower
performance by women.

Gender stereotypes are an incredibly typical part of modern life. Perhaps one reason that's the case is
that it's easier to stereotype than to think the brain through itself. Some gender stereotypes seem to
even work even early on, at least at a surface level. In one study on the impact of gender stereotypes,
the subject children were tested with respect to their mathematical prowess.

In many ways, gender stereotypes have wide-ranging influence in society and are destructive to the lives
of men and women. They restrict the freedom and choices of people. They lead to discrimination. They
cause undue suffering. Because of the insidious effects, gender stereotypes need to be addressed at
different levels and by different actors.

The stories have traced and mapped existing gender norms and perceptions, the influence of gender
stereotypes on people's lives, education and vocational choices, relations, everyday life, health, power,
violence, and participation in social life.

The international human rights law framework prohibits gender stereotypes and stereotyping that
undermine the enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms. States have obligations to
eliminate discrimination against men and women in all spheres of their life. This obligation requires
states to take measures to deal with gender stereotypes both in public and private life and to refrain
from stereotyping.
