I. OBJECTIVES TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY

B. PAMANTAYANG PAGGANAP

C. MGA LAYUNIN  naipaliliwanag ang kahulugan ng pabula;

at aral); at

D. MGA MAHAHALAGANG Factors that affect the strength of the

KONSEPTO electromagnet. • Number and size of coils of wire - the
more you increase the number of coils, the more the
increase in strength of an electromagnet.
• Size of iron core or nail - the bigger size of the iron core
or nail, the stronger the electromagnet can be.
• Size and number of dry cell battery – the more supply
of electric current, the more it produces a stronger
electromagnet.

DAILY ROUTINE

Bago tayo tumungo sa ating bagong talakayan atin munang

bagay. Maaari ba kayong magbigay ng halimbawa ng isang
Alamat? Alamat ng bayabas
Alamat ng pagong
Alamat ng pinya

Mahusay! Tunay ngang nakikinig at may natutuhan kayo sa ating

aralin.
2. Motivation (Let the learners watch the video) A crane that lifts
heavy objects

It has a powerful
electromagnet.

https://youtu.be/BQA5VDXE7ts?
si=6xlemFoNFjstDWe5 (A crane that lifts heavy
objects)

Based on the video you’ve watched, what did you notice?

How did the crane become powerful enough to lift large pieces
of metals?

3. Presentation of the lesson

Let’s see how an electromagnet can become powerful or weak.

Our lesson for today is all about the Factors Affecting

the Strength of an Electromagnet

At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:

• Identify the factors that affect the strength of an
electromagnet.
• Appreciate the role of electromagnetism in everyday life.
• Design an experiment to determine the factors that affect
the strength of the electromagnet.
B. EXPLORATION GROUP ACTIVITY 1. Observe
1. Setting of standards cleanliness. 2. Work
Before we perform the activity, there are things to quietly or
remember/consider in doing the activity. What are they? maintain silence at
work.
3. Work orderly.
4. Handle materials
carefully.
5. Share opinions and
respect other’s
opinions.
6. Record observation.

2. Activity proper
Let the teacher group the students into four groups.
Let them do the activity and follow the rules in doing
a group activity.

ACTIVITY 1: ELECTROMAGNET MODEL

Each group will go to
Science Skills: Observing, Inferring their respective area
Time Frame: 10 minutes and do the activity
independently.
GROUP 1
Materials:
•thin and short wire • large nail •1 large battery •electrical
tape • safety pins • thumbtacks
Note: Be careful in handling all the materials
Procedure:
1. Coil the wire around the nail and connect to the
battery with electrical tape.
2. Try to use it to attract the pins and thumb tacks.

Guide Questions:
(Write your answers on a work sheet.)
1. Did your device work? Why and why not?

GROUP 2
Materials:
•1 small battery • thick and long wire • large nail •
electrical tape • safety pins • thumbtacks

Note: Be careful in handling all the materials

Procedure:
1. Coil the wire around the nail and connect to the
battery with electrical tape.
2. Try to use it to attract the pins and thumb tacks.

Guide Questions:

1. Did your device work? Why and why not?
GROUP 3
Materials:
•1 large battery • thick and long wire •small nail •
electrical tape • safety pins • thumbtacks

Note: Be careful in handling all the materials

Procedure:
1. Coil the wire around the nail and connect to the
battery with electrical tape.
2. Try to use it to attract the pins and thumb tacks.

Guide Questions:
(Write your answers on a work sheet.)
1. Did your device work? Why and why not?

GROUP 4
Materials:
•thick and long wire • large nail • 2 large batteries
•electrical tape • safety pins • thumbtacks

Note: Be careful in handling all the materials

Procedure:
1. Coil the wire around the nail and connect to
the battery with electrical tape.
2. Try to use it to attract the pins and thumb tacks.

Guide Questions:
(Write your answers on a work sheet.)
1. Did your device work? Why and why not?
2. Presentation of the Output After finishing the task,
they will present their
work in front of the class.

C. EXPLANATION What happened to the device made by Group 1? It doesn’t work.

1. Discussion Why does their device did not work? Because they use less coil
of wire. So, their device
did not attract the pins and
thumb tacks.

What happened to the device made by Group 2? It also doesn’t work.

Why does their device did not work? Because they use a small
battery and did not also
attract the pins and
thumbtacks.

What happened to the device made by Group 3? It doesn’t work.

Why does their device did not work? It is because they use a
small nail where the pins
and thumb tacks are not
attracted by their device.

It works.
What happened to the device made by Group 4?
Why do you think their device work? It is because they use
enough coil of wire, large
nail, and batteries.

Did you remember the different example of an
electromagnet I showed you last time?

How does an electromagnet contribute to everyday life?

Yes ma’am!

-It allows us to use

electrical devices like
fans, lights, and
refrigerators.
-It also helps in
transportation systems
like trains and elevators.
Very good!
-Electromagnets are used
If the appliances we use at home like fans and doorbell,
in speakers, doorbells,
speakers and television stop working, which of their part may
have a problem? and even in picking up
scrap metal in junkyards.

Maybe in their
electromagnets.
What are the tools that we can use to repair the -soldiering iron,
