-KOREAN ALPHABET: HANGUL
So we’ll be discussing the brief history of Hangul, when sya gin invent, sino nag invent kag
naman gin invent sya. Gin introduce na sya ni JB earlier about who invented, so this time diri ta mabal
an naman gin invent ni King Sejong ang hangul
=SEJONG THE GREAT----
He is regarded as one of the greatest rulers in Korean history, and is remembered as the inventor
of Hangul, the native alphabet of the Korean language.
Sejong is best known for his development of Hangul (Han'gŭl), the phonetic system for writing
the Korean language that is still in use.
-HISTORY OF HANGUL
So before the creation of the hangul alphabet, they use chinese characters to express sa pagsulat
kag sa pagbasa, so only the aristocrats or mga royalties ang may privelege maglearn kag magstudy
makaintindi chinese----Korea didn’t have their own characters---
As a result, it was so inconvenient because Chinese characters were not enough or so different
from Korean---- that it was difficult to express Korean fully.
In order to solve this problem, King Sejong and his researchers invented hunminjeongeum
which is now known as hangul which literally means----
=HANGUL WAS NOT WIDELY USED BECAUSE----
They probably saw hangul as a possible threat to their status because hangul designed so that
even commoners could learn to read and write.
Hanja, court ladies, eunuch
1894-1895- After Japan defeated China from colonization in the First Sino-Japanese War, Joseon
became nominally independent and declared the short-lived Korean Empire. Hangul was officially
taught and learned in Korea, diri na ang application of the script sa mga elementary school textbooks.
Biruin niyo mga 400+ years pa bago naging official iteach ang Hangul sa mga kabataan. Pero years after
sang 1910 gin colonize naman sila sang Japan and declared Japanese as the official language of Korea,
however Hangul was still taught in schools.
Hangul Day is celebrated every October 9 ---in Korea to honor the institution of the Korean writing
script (January 15, North Korea)
-KOREAN ALPHABET: HANGUL (last slide)
So later, tudluan kita ni Mr. Renemel Mamay how to write and pronounce hangul especially ang
intonation nya. That would be all, thankyou. The next topic will be the culture of Korea, to be discussed
by Ms. Celoso and Mr. Ampuan.
