Voice-Based E-Mail System for Visually Challenged People

ABSTRACT
Currently, visually challenged individuals face significant barriers when using computers
independently, primarily due to the complexity of keyboards and the visually dominant nature of
most computer interfaces. This challenge is particularly pronounced in areas such as social
networking, email, and multimedia communication, where these individuals often require external
assistance to perform basic tasks. Voice-Mail architecture represents a major breakthrough in
addressing these challenges. By enabling visually impaired users to access email and multimedia
functions without the need for a keyboard or mouse, this system significantly enhances accessibility.
Traditional email systems pose several difficulties for visually impaired users. Relying heavily on
sighted navigation tools like cursors and keyboards makes it hard for blind users to interact
effectively. Typing is another challenge, as it involves memorizing complex keyboard layouts, which
increases the cognitive load and often leads to frustration. Though screen readers provide some level
of assistance, they are limited in their ability to offer seamless interaction with digital tools and
platforms. Our proposed system leverages advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI)
and voice recognition, to offer an intuitive, voice-based email platform. This system reduces the
cognitive load typically associated with email management by eliminating the need to manually type
or navigate complex interfaces. Instead, users rely solely on voice commands to send, read, and
manage emails, offering a more comfortable and independent experience. The system utilizes the
Viterbi algorithm, which provides accurate speech recognition, converting spoken commands into
text. Users can interact with their inboxes by issuing voice commands, such as "compose" or "read,"
allowing them to manage their emails easily. This promotes greater inclusivity, enabling visually
impaired individuals to engage in communication without external help. In addition to its
accessibility features, our solution is cost-effective and easy to maintain, making it suitable for
widespread use. By empowering visually impaired users to participate in digital communication
autonomously, this system offers a meaningful contribution toward bridging the technological gap
and promoting inclusivity in the digital age.
