Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence: Is an abuse that happens between partners who
are married or in live in the same place without marriage (cohabitation)
also it can be called as family abuse. Moreover, domestic violence could
be violence against the parents, children, and elderly.
Causes:
-poverty and unemployment (half of homeless women and children are
victims of domestic violence)
-Parenting at a young age
-Alcoholism
-The abuse wants to control
-Men to show their manhood
-National Intimate partner and sexual violence survey (NISVS)show (1 of
4 women and 2 in 10 men suffered from sexual violence)to jealousy,
anger, learn to solve problems by violence from their families
Effects:
1. Mental illness of people who suffer from abuse
2. Anxiety
3. Depression
4. Concern about safety
5. Death
6. Suicide
7. Physical harm
8. Taking alcohol, and drugs by the victim
9. Low self-esteem
10. Loss of appetite
11. Isolation
12. According to Direnfeld (Ltd, 2021) not only the victim is
affected psychologically and emotionally but also the other family
members are affected and the effects may last for many years. In
many cases, children are affected by the trauma of violence and
when they grow they will become bullies
Solutions:
Put and implement a low where the victim or the abuser to take away
from the home and punish the abuser.
Also, stay away from watching scenes of violence on satellite channels
and internet
(Ltd,2021): the victims can call the confidential National Domestic
Hotline (DMVH) at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) where they are available at
any time in US, same can be done all over Lebanon with the finance of
government where the abuser will be scared to be catch by the
counselor against domestic violence
