You have recently attended a two-day course, and now the course organizer is asking for

your review and comments. Write a letter to the course organizer.

In your letter, you should:
 describe the course
 explain whether or not you liked the course, and why
 provide some suggestions for improvement
->
Dear Madam,

I have recently joined the course “Better Environment Now”, which was organized by you.
I’m writing to deliver my own feedback and review for the course.

To be honest, I am an environment-conscious person so the first time I stumbled upon the

course’s pop-ups when surfing the Internet, I immediately clicked into and spent time reading
the syllabus of the course. And after several considerations, I made up my mind to enroll in
the course. More fascinating, BEN really lived up to my expectations as the instructors are
experienced and knowledgeable. Besides, the purely theoretical knowledge provided at the
beginning of each lesson, there were edu-sharing times in which everyone can share their
own experiences and thoroughly discuss current environmental affairs.

Nevertheless, I reckon that next time, BEN should widen the age requirements as these
days, lots of high school students are more concerned about the environment and they also
have their own divergent experiences. By this way, attendants can broaden perspectives as
well as social circle. Moreover, it would be better if the course can extend participating time
to a week so that there would be additional time for other activities such as launching mock
projects based on each person’s ideas.

I hope that my feedback would prove useful for the course in the upcoming time.

Yours sincerely,
Ha
Write a letter to the department of education to provide financial assistance for a short
training course that you want to do in some foreign country.
In your letter, you should tell:
 what course you want to take
 why you want to take the course
 how financial assistance can help you
->
Dear Madam,

I write this letter to ask for financial support for a short-term abroad training course that I
have always desired to enroll in.

To be more specific, this course is named “Managing in Marketing'' and is two months in
length in England. It is about management skills as well as in-depth academic knowledge in
Marketing domain. I have always been interested in this field. After thoroughly considering
this course’s syllabus and feedback, I truly reckon that the course will massively assist me in
some ways. Furthermore, getting promoted to managerial position is also my long-term aim
and the acquired knowledge can facilitate my promotion process to some extent.

However, living costs in England are escalating whereas my own budget is quite limited so
simultaneously affording a two-month living fee and flight cost are out of my bounds. I have
heard that the department has a financial assistance program for needy people. Could I
have more information about that?

I’m looking forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely,

Your company sent you to complete a course in another country. You have lost the
certificate received at the end of the course. Write a letter to the principal of the college
where you took the course.
In your letter, you should tell:
 how you lost the certificate
 why you need it now
 what you want the principal to do
->
Dear Madam,

I write this letter to ask about several problems related to the course certificate I have
recently attended.

To be more specific, I have participated in the course called “Management for Marketing”
organized by your college in the past few months. After completing the course, I had to
immediately come back to my country for several personal reasons. However, when packing
the suitcase I suddenly realized that I lost my course certificate, which made me extremely
panicked but I still could not figure out the reason for that loss. More importantly, now I truly
need that certificate as my company asks for my certificate submission in order to guarantee
that I actually completed the course as they previously required.

Hence, I request you to issue a softcopy of the certificate and send it via my personal email,
which is abc@gmail.com. It would be a pleasure if you could also send me the hardcopy via
courier service and I am willing to pay for the incurred delivery fee.

I am looking forward to your reply.

The news company is going to start a new program on TV about a particular place. Write a
letter to offer your suggestions on what the program should be like.
In your letter, you should tell:
 how you know about that place
 what suggestions would you like to make
 why are you offering the suggestions
->
Dear Madam,

I have coincidentally heard about your company’s intention of broadcasting a new TV

program discovering unexplored places, which really evokes my interest since I’m a
travelbuff. I’m writing this letter to ask for your acceptance to some of my suggestions about
the program.

Recently, I have had a great chance to visit a place called Son Doong Cave, which is located
in Quang Binh province. It is still regarded as unexplored due to the fact that it has just been
discovered last year. In order to get to the cave, people have to go trekking for over 30
minutes and then travel by boat for another 10 minutes. However, the cave will live up to
everyone’s expectations as it is breathtaking and house of tons of limestone.

There are several reasons why I really speak highly of this cave and firmly believe that it is a
must for adventurous travellers. Firstly, the experts call it The Garden of Eden as visitors can
spot an intact jungle without humans’ marks with rich flora and fauna. Another point is that
there are many mysteries revolving around the cave waiting to be discovered and your
program will serve as a catalyst for visitors to come and visit Son Doong Cave.

I hope that your company will take Son Doong Cave into consideration. I’m looking forward
to your reply.

You have read an article in a newspaper about someone you know. Write a letter to the
editor as follows.
 describe the article
 explain what details were wrong in the article and what the corrects are
 suggest she/he should do about the article
->
Dear Mrs Loen,

I have recently read the newspaper, edited by you, which rewarded the young talents and
their innovations in a competition named “Global Green 3” and I’m so glad that my friend is
also mentioned. However, there is certain misinformation about herself and her lateral
product so I’m writing this letter to inform you about that as well as to provide the correct
information.

Firstly, her name is Julia Nguyen and currently she is a student at Charles Darwin University,
however; you seemingly mistook her university with Charles Doley University. Furthermore,
during her time participating in Global Green, although there were two sectors, which were
environment and technology, for competitors, Julia only focused on the former, instead of the
latter as demonstrated. Another point is that she isn’t the youngest awarded the second
prize since the truly youngest one did appear in the previous season of the competition.

Although these mistakes are only coincidental, I’m afraid that they will cause troubles to my
friend to some extent so I wish the follow-up article would clarify these issues as soon as
possible.

I’m looking forward to your reply.

An English-speaking friend wants to spend a two-week holiday in your region and has
written asking for information and advice.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
 offer to find somewhere to stay
 give advice about what to do
 give information about what clothes to bring
->
Dear Julia,

It’s been ages since I’ve heard from you. I hope all is well. I’m so glad to know that you plan
to choose my city as the destination for your upcoming two-week holiday. I’m writing this
letter to make some recommendations to help you fully enjoy the holiday.

As you might know, my city is popular for housing massive numbers of homestays, of which
the prices are reasonable and the decoration will fulfill you with the coziness so I believe
homestay would be a very favourable choice for you. Or in case you prefer hotels which both
fit your budget and have views of the whole city, feel free to ask as I will help you to make a
list of hotels meeting your demands.

Regarding activities when coming to my city, you shouldn’t ignore street markets, where you
can buy quality clothes items at a low cost since in the summer the prices are often splashed
and I bet that a travelbuff like you will definitely love its crowdedness. Moreover, you can go
sightseeing on a boat, which allows you to enjoyably contemplate the whole city at night.
And don’t forget to have a try at local dishes such as Luon Soup, Ginger Sticky Rice, ect.

Due to your decision to visit my region in summer, remember to bring short clothes items like
shorts and T-shirts. Sunscreen and hat are also essential things as the weather will be
scorching and you may suffer from heatstroke.

Hope that my recommendations do you a favor. I’m looking forward to your reply.

Best wishes,
Ha
Dear Mrs Joen,

Recently, I have been finding information about studying abroad and fortunately stumbled
into an online web about scholarships mentioning Charles Darwin University. I am writing
this letter to make an inquiry about the Arts and Design course commencing this July.

First of all, I am currently a high school student for the gifted and I always dream of having
overseas studying experience; however, due to certain reasons, I cannot realize my dream
without financial bursary. Luckily, your university at the same time meets all my
requirements, both the studying course and the scholarship program for students from
Vietnam. Furthermore, becoming an artist with my own art gallery has always been my
lifetime wish. And after spending time on reading your university’s Arts and Design course
syllabus, I got more interested in CDU.

Becoming an official student of Charles Darwin University would be my great honor as it has
a global reputation for being ranked among top universities all over the world. This is evident
from the THE times ranking where CDU ranks the top 50th best young university with Arts
degree ranks 6th in Australia. Moreover, I am particularly impressed by the core values,
which are: diversity, inclusiveness, equity and social justice, CDU aims at. The student
service is also a favourable point since it is professional and students are always mentally
supported.

I firmly believe that I am a suitable candidate for the scholarship as I ranked top 1% in school
with GPA 9.5/10 throughout the running years and gained merit-based scholarship from my
school. Besides, I am also representative for school to attend academic contests and
successfully achieve high prizes. Furthermore, I joined certain Arts competitions and my
lateral product was honorably published in the newspaper.

I hope that you will take my inquiry into consideration. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,
Ha
You want to apply to a private college seeking admission for a bachelor degree. You are
experiencing financial problems at the moment and cannot get admitted to the college
without some help.
Write a letter to the Principal of the college explaining your situation and ask for information
on scholarships or other means of financial help available.
->
Dear Mrs Joen,

Recently, I have prepared to apply for undergraduate courses at certain colleges and took
yours into consideration. Therefore, I am writing this letter in order to make some inquiries
about your college admission requirements and conditions to achieve scholarships as well.

Currently, I am a senior student of a high school for the gifted and the deadline to submit the
listed colleges of each student is at the end of this July. However, when searching for the
tuition fees, I realized that those hefty amounts of money are out of my bounds. To be
honest, the COVID 19 pandemic truly wreaks havoc on my family finance so we are now on
a tight budget. For this reason, affording 4-year-colleges’ tuition fees at this moment is
impossible and financial bursary would be the most favourable solution.

I would like to apply for the bachelor degree of Economics and Philosophy and do wonder
about the admission and scholarship requirements. In order to gain a 75% or 100%
scholarship, how much GPA do I have to get? Are IELTS and SAT simultaneously
compulsory since I solely have the former? Besides, is it necessary to have a portfolio of
extracurricular activities relevant to my desired field or I only have to send hard copy
certificates of those?

I hope that you will take my desire into account. I look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,
Ha
