AP World One-Pager Guidelines
A one-pager is a single page of concise content that highlights and summarizes the main ideas of a chapter. It is
intended to represent your grasp of the material. This weekly assignment is designed to show your understanding of
the material by the way you were able to synthesize the key concepts. An added bonus is that it should help improve
your understanding and retention of the material.
Step 1: Read the Chapter:
● Carefully read through the chapter with the goal of understanding key concepts, themes, and historical
significance.
● Take handwritten notes in your spiral on important events, people, places, and ideas.
Step 2: Writing the weekly “one pager”:
● An ideal one pager includes the following:
○ Main Themes: What are the central ideas or themes of the chapter? (Think SPICE-T)
○ Key Events and Dates: Highlight significant events, dates, and milestones.
○ Important Figures: Note important people and their contributions or roles.
○ If relevant, incorporate Connections:
■ Connections to Other Chapters: If relevant, draw connections between this chapter and
previous ones.
■ Relevance: Reflect on why the chapter’s content is important for understanding broader
historical concepts.
○ **Must include Key Terms: Include 7 of the key terms in your writing**
■ Your integration of the key terms in your written response should show that you understand
the historical context and significance of the term.
● Format: Hand written in paragraph format using complete sentences.. Ensure it is clear and easy to read.
● Submission: Submit your one-pager .in class
Grading Criteria:
● Accuracy: Content is accurate, and written response gives a comprehensive summary of the chapter.
● Clarity: Clear organization and presentation of information.
● Vocabulary: Accurately included 7 vocabulary terms in the written piece.
Before Turning in your AP World One-Pager:
Read your work OUTLOUD.
Did you skip any words? Does it make sense? Is it confusing?
Proofread your work.
Did you misspell any words? Did you use punctuation?
Count your vocabulary words.
Did you use the correct number of keywords in your one-pager?
HINT: Highlight the key words - it will help you and the teacher :)
Does it reflect what you know from the assigned reading?
Is it all your own work?
It should be written in your words, and should only your work.
