SEROLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY LECTURE


1ST Semester 2024-2025

Course Description: SEROIM54P is a four-unit lecture and laboratory course that


deals with the basic concepts of Immunology and the principles and
procedures of serological tests and subsequently reading,
interpreting, and proper reporting of results. It seeks to provide students
immunologic and serologic concepts and principles that reinforce better
comprehension of complex concepts in other professional Medical
Technology courses.

Prerequisite: Bacteriology

Course Outcome: At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
1. discuss accurately the historical development of immunology and
serology.
2. explain properly the mechanisms of the immune system of the body;
3. apply precisely the principles of immunology in serology and laboratory
diagnosis of specific disease through the use of serological reactions;
4. integrate competently the importance of the course in the diagnosis
and treatment of disease;
5. Manifest clearly the following values: integrity, honesty, solidarity,
love, critical thinking, empathy, religious faith, and value for life in an
Augustinian- Recoleto way.
